Traveling by and saw some decent reviews so decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Mixed Enchiladas that had one beef and chicken enchilada and a taco. Taco was good with a crispy shell and flavorful meat. Enchiladas where great and I think the sour cream was even hand made because it didnt have that processed texture. I was a little disappointed that there was no queso included but after seeing the quality of the queso I can see why its not included complementary as it is of good quality and not just canned or powder mix. Also as this was a small restaurant Im not quite sure what to expect in regards to sanitation and I am glad to report that this restaurant, although small, was very clean including the restrooms which smelt freshly cleaned. Overall if your traveling through Mt Vernon, MO off Highway 44 stop by and check it out, you wont regret it. Pros: Great friendly staff, authentic style Mexican food, good $$$ Cons: None

We live locally and hadnt been to this place in years so we thought we would give it try again. What a mistake! The service was terrible; it took over 30 mins to get cold food. We told the staff and were told the food was cold because we used salsa on portions of the food. We disputed this because everything was cold right down to the rice/beans. They were extremely rude and finally took our meals off the bill. While settling the bill, the manager/owner said to us-exact words: "next time no service". No apology, just dont come back. Obviously, I would not recommended this place!

We eat here once or twice a week. They make their beans fresh daily and their chips and salsa are homemade. Chips are the best I have had in a restaurant. Service will be slower on a Sunday because they are packed. They have Dr. Pepper which is always a plus. Restrooms are clean. Wait staff is friendly. Never had a problem with the owner er as mentioned in some of the other posts. If I ever had an issue, it was addressed with no problem. Fajitas do come out smoking on a iron plate but the smoke dies down quickly.

I had never before ask them to fix anything. Order was messed up twice and I ask the manager to make it right or discount it and he crossed his arms over his chest and puffed up like a tough guy telling me he didnt care and wouldnt discount it and threaten to put my picture in with his cooks I assume to mess with my food if I was seen at his restaurant again which I wont be after his disregard for any type of customer service.

Its ok. But please know: every other dish offered here is served on an over heated iron skillet! And on a Friday night, with no ventilation, and a small intimate dining room, the smoke was too unbearable. I had to bail on my dining experience a bit early. My contacts could not take it. The food is good. Id go again, maybe ask for outdoor seating? Dunno if its offered.

Great, just like Swansons. Im sorry but its like most mex food out here. I miss fresh carnitas Grilled on a spit and shaved, manudo on sunday morn. I miss fish and tongue toco. I miss S. Cal. Mexican food 89 cent Toco after one, U have to order two more, I miss, $1.25 burrito U cant finish, and $1.50 dos XX beer.

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and I have lived all over the States, including the southwest part of the country. The fajita meat is brought out in succulent, sizzling platters that will make you want to consume far too much. They rock! Well worth venturing off the Interstate. *****

Salsa is great.. I had the chili Verde.. Good flavor and portions good. My wife had the street tacos. She said they were very good. I will be back. We were just passing through and saw the good reviews. They were right. Great food. Good staff.

My Family and I eat there often. I love their food and service. If you are near or in Mount Vernon its definitely worth the stop. Portions are good, Price is great, service is fast and friendly.

I am a weekly regular. Usually in a group of 4-10. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food preparation is spot on. Also bathrooms are clean. I think that deserves bonus points. Good job El Azeca!
