Im giving this place 5/5 because I went in feeling kind of grumpy and judgey about the the whole no pork and no beef thing. But I left totally convinced that they dont need to change a thing! It being our first time, hubby and I shared the sampler in order to get a taste of as many things as possible. Chicken wings, Turkey Ribs, Turkey Rib Tips, steak fries and sweet potato fries. My favorite was definitely the wings! The rub had the perfect amount of flavor and the skin had developed a nice bit of crisp and chew. My hubbys favorite were the Turkey Ribs - they definitely have a lot more meat on them than most pork ribs Ive seen, so two alone are decently filling. I was also pretty crazy about the Rib Tips. They had an incredibly deep smoke line and their texture had actually become quite similar to brisket! I have to say that both fries had no seasoning. We ate outside on their patio and didnt see and salt and pepper. So I tried dipping them in their BBQ sauce. But this sauce a a very sweet and Apple-like flavor that just wasnt for me. Thank goodness none of the meats needed a sauce! Id probably get the sweet potato fries again, because they were the better of the two. I will also mention that not only were the rubs on everything absolutely delicious (pretty sure nothing had been treated with a sauce or mop of any kind) they also werent sweet. So while they didnt have that caramalized bark Ive come to expect, the rub definitely held its own! We will be back!

We wandered in to the Gobblestop Smokehouse when the Korean restaurant in the same strip mall had too long of a wait. The restaurant has a small dining area with 6 table/booths and you order at the counter. Theres a big board with lots of smoked chicken and turkey options. There were a few other meat options as well, like sausage. Meals were a good price. Most meals with 1 side were about $8. Great choices of sides and apps. I got the 8 smoked wings and the fried corn on the cob. My wife got the pulled chicken sandwich, baked beans, and the corn bites app. All the food was super tasty! Service was fast and friendly. The corn bites were really good, hot and fresh from the fryer. It was hard to wait for them to cool enough before eating! The fried corn on the cob was like a big version of that and was also well battered and really tasty. The wings had a great smoky flavor and were pretty substantial. 4 of them was enough of a meal for me. The sauce on the side was also good but not necessary. The wings were already good dry. The pulled chicken came on a great buttered pretzel bun. My wife loved the spices in the baked beans. They also had a nice soft texture. We had a great meal and will definitely be back to try the turkey rib tips and the cookies.

If you dont like great, honest barbecue from great, honest folks, then dont come here. The place is tucked away in an unassuming plaza behind Seeger Toyota on Olive. Believe me, it is worth the trip! This is my third time coming, but the first time for dinner...and my calculations proved correct! Gobble Stop is absolutely the spot to be at if you have that craving for some fresh, made-to-order chicken and turkey! There is a little bit of a wait due to every dish made-to-order (~20-30 minutes), but it is truly worth it. I strolled in on a Friday night at 730p on mid-November and they were packed. Plus, the family, including the mother, was in there! Lets get to the real deal...thats the rub and the sauce! My goodness, its not spicy, not salty, and the right amount of smoke. Gobble Stop has honed its craft and made itself an instant classic. Dont take my word for it...make that to-go order call or dine-in (its more of a lunch setting) If youre looking for one of the top spots in the Lou for Q.

I brought a party of 20 to Gobble Stop on July 20 when we were in town from Wisconsin for a youth service trip through church. We showed up not realizing that they are a small place and barely had room to seat all of us inside. Desmones stepped right up and assured me that he would take care of us, and that he did. He started taking orders and sending them back to the kitchen one page at a time, and before you know it we were all taken care of and eating some of the best barbecue we have ever had. Desmones recommended the turkey loin sandwich, so I ordered it and it was literally the best sandwich I have ever had. Others really liked the turkey ribs. All of the food was fantastic, and we were made to feel very welcomed from the time we walked in the door. I am literally looking for a reason to get back to St. Louis just so I can eat at Gobble Stop again!

We asked our 7 year-old what he wanted for his Birthday dinner, he said "Chicken on a bone and macaroni and cheese". Since weve been wanting to check out the Smokehouse for months, I called them up. They said they didnt have macaroni yet, but theyll get it on the menu soon. We told them well come anyway. When we arrived, they had bought him a "Happy Birthday" balloon, not one of the cheap ones, and they had run out to get the fixins for Mac & Cheese for him! We had our whole party, presents and all, there. They helped us cut the cake that they said we were more than welcome to bring, gave us incredible service and food you wish your Momma had time to make for you. The Howard Brothers treated us like family and cook Michael gave us beautiful and delicious smoked delicacies. OMG, the turkey leg, we took pics!! We cant wait to go back!

Tldr: MUST HAVE. HIDDEN GEM. Amazing. Delicious. This place has the best bbq I have ever tasted. Its a real hole in the wall but man is it a hidden gem. We came before closing so they had run out of collard greens and chicken tips so we had turkey ribs and chicken wings. Oh. My. Goodness. The smokeyness and the sauce was amazing. The meat was juicy and tender. Even the sweet potato fries and baked beans were delicious and everything tasted really fresh(not expecting them to be that good after having such good meat already). We will definitely come back. Hits the bbq cravings like no other. Also staff is incredibly sweet, inviting and friendly. They have every reason to be loved. If theres anything I can recommend is for them to get a food truck so they can get more known. All the best with much love.

1) Took 25 minutes to order, with a line that was not very long, only for them to write it down incorrectly. I should have confirmed it with them afterwards, but I figured going down a list of a small number of items one-by-one would be fairly simple to follow. 2) Took 45 minutes to make the food. No food is worth a wait that long. 3) The food is quite overrated. Although you can taste some smoke, you can barely taste any rub. That being said, they are creative with the chicken and turkey dishes available, a lot of which cant be found at other restaurants. One positive is that the workers are very friendly. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed given all the positive reviews. I guess people are afraid to be critical of restaurants these days simply because it is relatively unique.
