Easter brunch was a nightmare for us, had reservations for 4 arrived on time had to wait 15 minutes to be sat as we are looking a dining room full of empty tables, get sat in a closet like room that was too hot and crowded. Once we were sat we had to wait another 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us to even get a glass of water. The busser finally got the male host to come over and take our drink order (which we never received). When I asked if we had a server I was told Sally would be right with us. A few minutes after that I see 2 servers discussing who was going to take our table, the whole time we are just sitting there waiting for some sort of acknowledgment and our drinks. Well it turns out that Sally must not have wanted to take the table because we had sat there so long. After asking for coffee & tea for a 3rd time we finally were able to actually receive our beverages. As for the food, 3.5 stars. I definitely will not be returning for any further brunches.

My husband and I are regulars at the M Cafe in the St. Paul Hotel. The food, ambiance, and service is always first class. You can order off the menu or order the buffet. We always order the buffet as it includes omelettes made to order, waffles, sausage, bacon, prime rib, potatoes, salmon (both poached and smoked), yogurt, fresh fruit, and many choices of pastries and desserts. They coffee is hot and fresh, and the utensils are of high quality and table linens are of high quality. We also enjoy descending the elegant, curved staircase which leads from the equally elegant lobby down to the lower level.

All three of us liked our food. I had beef stroganoff, one of us an omelette, and homemade Mac and cheese for the kiddo. If your kid is picky tell them not to put the garnish/herb on it. My didnt care... Very reasonable prices for quality food. Friendly staff. A great way to experience the St. Paul hotel without going broke. I like the food better here than the Grill upstairs. But its in a basement instead of overlooking Rice park. Nice old architecture features. Fancy bathrooms with lounge area.

The food was all good quality. The waffles, dessert, large shrimp and smoked salmon were nice. Skip the eggs Benedict though, if thats what youre after try The Saint Paul Grill upstairs or Meritage across the street. Only problem here is that nothing stands out, its good as far as hotel breakfast buffets go, but not worth the price.

The atmosphere and service was great. We enjoyed the Christmas decorations. As far as the food- my husband and I both ordered corn beef hash. While the hollandaise sauce was delicious, we were disappointed to discover that the actual corn beef seemed canned.

Fantastic downtown food in a beautiful setting. Enjoy the "Cinderella staircase" as you descend into the cafe. Great tasting food at great prices. Perfect for a business lunch. Theyll validate your Lawson parking ramp ticket for two hours as well!
