Food was fresh, and had good flavor, but staff was inexperienced (especially the male host) on the day we visited. The host was preoccupied with micro-managing customers who have children, instructing all parents to fold down their strollers and stash them across the restaurant for no apparent reason. We found it to be humorous, but annoying. The restaurant was nearly empty, and there was plenty of room for our tiny little umbrella stroller. We watched him speak rudely to two other parents with strollers, one of which had a newborn! Im sure she needed the stroller to hold the baby while she ate. I would have left if it were me. If youre going to make pointless requests of parents, then you need to provide high chairs and carseat slings immediately following that request. The staff could not provide a high chair for at least 30 minutes into our lunch. I then had to remind our waitress again for a high chair. This is not a bar-- it is a very casual cafe with a kids menu. We did not expect to be treated as second class because were parents. If you have something against children, do not work for a restaurant that is supposed to be child-friendly.

Without a doubt, the best bang for your {HEALTHY, NATURAL, ORGANIC, LOCAL...} dollar! When the patio is in season, you absolutely must enjoy a meal out there! Its a little piece of heaven! So many great options for our Gluten & Dairy free family, EVEN delectable desserts! We have always been pleased with the quality, consistency and delicious food, but on a few occasions the service has been a bit pretentious and seemingly unaware or compassionate regarding service in a timely fashion. This has NOT stopped us from coming, because the ambiance, variety, appetizing healthy food options, and price point far outweigh that minor criticism. We just make a point to enjoy the French Meadow Bakery on days we have not specific time table and can just relax to take in all fabulousness! Parking can be tricky on Grand, there is a very small lot directly across from the restaurant on the North, if you catch a space, thats great, if you dont, you can still consider yourself lucky to take in the fanciful shops and other restaurant views on your walk to get in.

This place is so full of their fads and hipster pop culture that I think that is all it will ever amount to. Imagine a hipsters general attitude towards life and that is what you get with the service - the analogy is between acting like they did some thing before it became cool and acting like they gave you service without even doing so. French Meadow Bakery has options for me that angered me at a level I cant even begin to fully describe. After showing up countless times to try those highly-esteemed blueberry gluten free and vegan muffins, I finally had the opportunity to try one... and it was as dry as the tears on my dead grandmothers eyes rolling in her grave in sympathy of my struggles in life. On several occasions the woman behind the counter asked me to try one of the gluten free options because gluten free is cool... thus ending my visit with a sour note of hatred toward those who choose to eat my food leaving nothing for me but despair.

I ordered eggs benedict for carryout breakfest. I have a bad spine so my girl friend went out to pick it up. She didnt look in the carry out boxs to see the quality of are food. Her idea was was if were paying this much for quality food I shouldnt have to look at it. She brought it home yolk broke and the eggs look like plastic. Not to forget they forgot my salad and girl friends toast. After i told the Manger he just asks what you want me to do. How about u offer me a free meal and something to compensate for my driving. No there Manger has no idea how to problem solve. There not about services or pleasing you. I told the Manger Im returning it and want my money back since you cant think of a way to fix this. Never going to this location again due to the Manger and cooks not know how to prep a plate . Go to downtown saint paul if you want a nice dinner or breakfast.

Ive eaten here several times. However today I waited in line for a table for 15 minutes without being greeted. Additionally, no one else in line was greeted either. My husband asked the barista if there was a host who could take names and she flatly said she doesnt seat people (not her job). He said he understood but was wondering if anyone would be with us, again she said that wasnt her responsibility. We saw a few other servers moving about but nobody acknowledged the long line of people waiting for tables. While we waited, several potential customers gave up and left and we finally left as well. Ended up driving to an old favorite Longfellows, where everyone was super friendly and the food was delicious.

I really like French Meadow because they have excellent vegetarian options, and its not overly priced. Their eggs in particular taste great and theyve always been cooked right (over easy). The most recent time I went I got the vegan breakfast: tofu scramble, toast, hashbrowns, and veggie sausage that has an excellent texture, spicing and mouthfeel. The coffee is strong and hot, and their drink menu is quite good. I look forward to the introduction of spirits and cocktails in the near future. One complaint I have is that the Saint Paul location is severely understaffed when I go there, leading to obviously overworked waitresses (and even the barista was setting and clearing tables)

Ive been to the other location and had great experiences there, however, this location is just not the same. Came here with my family for breakfast and the service was awful. It took forever for the server to just even acknowledge us and when the food came out it was cold. But the worst part was that my sisters bread had mold on it! We tried flagging our server but she never came so we had to get up walk to her and just tell her. She just stared at it, apologized, but didnt do anything about it. Im a waitress, and if this happened, the customer gets reimbursed for their meal along with another meal for that day. Nothing happened to us. Very disappointed in the customer service.

The food was okay, service was subpar. The server and I had very little interaction and didn’t even introduce herself. I did not know that the cold pressed coffee didn’t have refills as it wasn’t expressed to me. It also came with lots of ice so it was hard to justify a 3.50 price point for barely any coffee. The toast didn’t come with coconut oil like the other location and there was no ketchup for the hash Browns. Granted I never asked but the meal felt incomplete. I would recommend their other location only 5 miles from here. Service was A1 there!

This location was awesome. Very quaint, warm and welcoming environment. The service was great. The organic coffee was okay. I drink lots of coffee and different organic varieties and this was one was really smooth, but almost tasted like it was a little watered down. The food was awesome! I had the "Zone Omelette" with added vegan sausage and it was tasty! My mom had the French toast with bananas and a sweet caramelized sauce. I like sweet things and this was a little too sweet for me. Overall, I loved the environment, service and food. Stop on By!
