First time actually eating inside (they also do takeout) and the food was excellent. Bit of a wait, came at 6:30 pm on Thursday night (20 mins), but definitely worth it. I suggest trying the BOWLS, the Yellow Curry (roasted cauliflower)with chicken was my favorite. If you are looking for a more typical meaty flavor, the Pork & Over Easy egg was delicious (crispy fried onions hell yes!). Also one of the few places that sells kombucha on tap, Deanes Kombucha is a great local non-alcholic alternative. They have some local beer as well - Yamma Jamma is a unique fall beer by Indeed. Alas, it isnt really about the beverages - have not had a bad meal here. A bit spendy, portions are not huge, so try several items. Get a side of black beans and rice - you wont regret it. Also, the restaurant was a bit on the warm side, so bring layers.

In the Minneapolis location, food, service and ambience are great. Zagat 20-25 on all three. In Saint Paul, the food and ambience are 20-25. Service is less than 10. Somebody came by promptly with water and a friendly greeting. That was the last communication we had for 8 or 9 minutes when we left. Waitresses walked by repeatedly within 8 feet and act like youre not there, not a word, not a look--thats before we could have made the order. The place was less than 30% full during the lunch hour. This had happened to us before and we had gritted it out because of the good food. This time, after minutes of no service, no acknowledgment, we left. We had been to the St. Paul location 10 or more times so I am not sure what happened. We will still return to the Minneapolis location for the great food. Saint Paul is done for us.

Service was horrible. The servers look like they roll out of bed, smell like they dont bathe, and smoke cigarettes instead of attending to t customers. The FIRST TIME I went to Brasa, I waited 20 minutes to be greeted at my table. Then it took 20 minutes to get water. Our food was brought out about 30 minutes later, by the time I was starving, and even then the pork tasted fatty and as if it had been sitting out all day, the plantains were mushy and under-cooked, and the other sides were underwhelming. I give all places a second chance... SECOND TIME I went to Brasa, after 10 minutes of waiting at the table without being greeted or offered water, I walked out. No way is this place getting a 3rd chance from me.

We usually go to the Minneapolis location and their service is always better. This time it was unfortunately worse yet again at St Paul. The black bean fritter was beyond spicy (even my hubby who loves spicy food agreed) I tried to tell my server twice and she walked away both times. I finally told the lady who bussed the table, she said thats how it always is and it isnt spicy (isnt the customer always right?) She said shed deduct it from the bill and didnt. Our server was far too distracted to even stop and make sure things were done with us and the bill. And the fritter was never comped. Sticking to the tride and true original from now on #Minneapolis

Really great place, sweet atmosphere. Simple menu. I had the rotisserie chicken with candied yams, and homemade chips and guac. My mom had the pork and she had plain yams and a corn masa cheese bread. The chicken was really moist and had a good flavor. The corn masa bread that my mom had was to die for! I could eat that everyday! By far my favorite thing. The chips were good but much like the chips you can get at Chipolte. Pretty fast service, i would recommended to anyone who likes a fun new place to try out! Also nice because you normally dont have al lot of the things that are the menu at home. Which makes this place stand out!

I have only lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for a little over a year now and have struggled to find a decent Mexican/Latina based cuisine. I have stopped searching now that I have visited Brasa. With two locations, one on the Minneapolis side and the other near St. Paul, no matter if you are coming form the East or the West, you can enjoy quality food that does NOT break the wallet or bank account. The portions are huge for your buck and if you leave still hungry, it is your own fault. I highly recommend this place for locals and if you have friends and family visiting a need a place to eat out.

Brasa is one place I always recommend to out-of-towners. The food is excellent, with something for everyone: rice and beans, masa corn cakes (my favorite!), fried plantains, and a whole bevy of roast meats. Theyve got a great local beer selection, too (and house-made sodas, for those not imbibing). The St. Paul location is larger than the one in Minneapolis, but it still gets quite busy - so be aware if youre heading there on a weekend. One of my favorite spots, I couldnt say enough good things about it!

One of my favorite places in St.Paul. Menu might not be big, but still options for everyone whether youre a meat lover or vegetarian. Food is always quick yet flavorful and tastes fresh. Be sure to try the yuca fries with the tangy green sauce and definitely the honey drizzled corn bread! If youre not in a mood for a big meal, the appetizer portions ate good enough to fill you up too. The patio seating is great for summers.

Portions were SO SMALL! We came starving, ordered a small meat portion each, three sides and a corn muffin, and left still ready to eat an actual meal. We almost laughed out loud when they brought the food out. My complaint is that its not like the food is that valuable that they couldnt increase their sizes and still make great profit. The food was very good, definitely a different experience, but we probably wont go back.

My daughter and I decided to have dinner before I returned home. We decided to just pop into Brasa to see how long the wait was. Less than 5 min. on a Sunday night at 6:30 pm. It was packed. Food was flavorful! Chicken was moist. Mac & cheese was perfect. Corn bread was tender. Recommend if you want a simple but tasty meal. Price was great too. Less than $25 for two meals and we took some home for lunch the next day.

Brasa is one of my favorites. Im hard pressed to stray away from the pork sandwich, as it has so many flavors in it. Get as many of the sides as you or your group can because there are so many great items there. Rice and beans, chips an guac, fried plantains, crispy yuca, cornbread .... you get the point. They also have a small but solid beer selection with a 5-6 beers on tap and another 5-6 in a bottle.

Everything I had here was phenomenal...I know this is a little mean to say, but usually I have low expectations for Mexican or Latin American in the Twin Cities to have any spice. While it wasnt really spicy, the Potato and Chorizo Chilaquiles were unbelievable. The chicken is super juicy with a good lemony skin, and the plantains are also incredible. Definitely will be coming back soon.
