For years, Ive left small restaurants and shops committed to writing a review. Despite my good intentions, I never followed through. However, after my visit to Brake Bread this morning, I vowed that their product and service so overwhelmingly exceeded any expectation I have of a small business that this time I would actually write one. So, here it goes. I visited Brake Bread with my two daughters, four and seven years old. We were invited into a small but open space that gave a clear view of the craftsmanship underway, a counter filled with pastries, and a friendly staff. We ordered two cinnamon rolls, a chocolate babka, and coffee. The cinnamon rolls were lightly glazed with frosting, the exterior was a bit crisp and chewy, and the inside was a soft ribbon of cinnamon laced dough. The glaze and cinnamon did not overwhelm the roll––It was sweet but not too sweet. A perfect counterpoint to gooey, sugary rolls found in shopping malls. The babkas exterior and interior texture matched the cinnamon roll. The chocolate was rich with hints of cinnamon. It was a perfect companion to a well brewed cup of Bootstrap coffee. The bread and pastries are not the only thing that shines at Brake Bread. The service was an outstanding combination of attentive service and warm hospitality. They invited my two girls behind the counter to checkout the bread baking in the oven. My four-year-old left saying "it is yummy, and I love it, and they are helpful." My seven-year-old said, "they are kind and everyone should go there." We all left happy and satisfied. Before leaving, we picked up a loaf of their sandwich bread, Fwuffy, and a handful of cookies. Were already looking forward to lunch. We, without a doubt, will return to Brake Bread. And, if the owners or employees stumble on this review, thank you for a wonderful morning!

Kalamata Olive Bread (I dont remember the official name) was burnt. Im not talking crispy crusts, I mean burnt. Charred black, cracked, and tasting like carbon. I know now that I will always have to ask the server to take the bread out of the bag and show it to me before I make a purchase to ensure it isnt burnt (at businesses other than Brake Bread because I now refuse to buy anything from them). To make matters worse I bit deeply into an olive pit that was contained in the bread and just about broke a tooth! Shame on you, Brake Bread, for knowingly serving customers burnt bread and hiding it in your bags to dupe them at checkout. You have lost a previously loyal customer. I wont be back.

Finally made it over to the new bakery on 7th. A wide array of selection greets you right inside the door. We bought two loaves of the day-old, which was delicious. The price of a fresh loaf will cost the same as most brands from the grocery store, but this bread is much, much better quality. The staff are extremely friendly and very community-focused. They mentioned hosting a neighborhood get-together. When I asked whether I could keep some bread in the freezer, (yes you can) they educated me on the best methods. Stop over and support this wonderful small business!!

This bakery has great bread and treats (the cardamom twist is excellent). They also have great coffee (I forget who roasts it but is a local company). I heard they may eventually have an espresso machine, but theyre fairly new from what I heard and are still growing. Great vibe inside (I like to work on my computer at the bar in the front window). Reliable wifi. All around great spot.

I havent made it into the store front yet, but I do receive a loaf of their bread and a dozen cookies delivered to my door every Wednesday and this is absolutely amazing! The bread is so fresh and tasty and the cookies are really adventurous too. I love supporting a local company and I look forward to Wednesdays now every week.

The bread is beautiful, everything tastes great. I LOVED the outdoor dining area. It is simple, but we came with a dog and the area was mostly fenced in, so it was safe to let him be there with us. A blessing to dog owners who want to enjoy a snack as it is close to a busy street.

Fresh crusty bread, with light fluffy, tasty interior. Great staff (service with a smile); she let me sample bread prior to making purchase, even though it didnt seem that they had anymore samples left. This is my new favorite local joint for fresh bread!!

Brake Bread has friendly staff and excellent breads. Its a cozy, fun shop to visit. I also enjoy their cinnamon rolls, which have great texture and arent too sweet. Their chocolate chip cookies are the closest to homemade that Ive had at a local bakery.

This is the best bread in the cities, baked by the nicest people. My wife and I came in near close one day and they threw in a free baguette with our purchase because "everyone loves baguettes!" Worth any hype you hear- its now the only bread we buy.

I particularly like the bread here because its made without added sugar (unless specified on the label that it contains honey). But if you want sweet, I suggest trying the cardamom spinner. Theyre delicious!

Delicious fresh bread every day and not too pricey! You can even get day old bread for half-off. I had the salted brownie bites too once and those are dangerous....Highly recommend!

Fwuffy restored my belief in Minnesota bakers. One of the best I have ever had. Such a cute and silly name for such a serious loaf of bread.

Cardamom rolls are incredible, like the toast options for a low-cost and tasty treat. Tastes even better if you bike there!
