Never again! Ive eaten here at least 30+ times. It WAS my favorite Asian buffet. I try to come on Sunday when they serve sashimi (raw tuna). On my last (and final) trip, I discovered the tuna had turned. Let me be clear- there was no uncertainty or debate about this. The taste and smell left NO room for doubt that this tuna was un-edible at best and dangerous at worst. It was positively nasty. It can happen to any restaurant. Asian buffet is basically a low-priced cafeteria. You cant expect everything to be a winner, but this had to be a mistake. I didnt want anyone to get sick. I approached a young man who at least dressed and appeared to be in charge and told him about the tuna. He thanked me for informing him and assured me he would take care of it right away. I guess he didnt see or care that I had a clear view of the sushi bar (and him) from my table. After about ten minutes, I watched him approach the tuna and stare at it for a minute. He then poked at it with a pair of tongs. I guess he was satisfied that all was well because he then left and the bad tuna remained until the tray was picked clean by unfortunate guests! Mind you- He made NO effort to smell or taste the offending fish. He didnt talk to anyone from the sushi bar. How he could expect to tell if it was OK by a visual inspection is just silly. The red color is artificially induced with carbon monoxide gas at the processing plant. Color means nothing. Smell and taste tell the tale. I only had 2 bites. My first was followed by a smaller, more cautious sample to make sure the first piece wasnt a fluke. I didnt vomit when I got home, but I DID get sick. I have an iron stomach and can practically eat glass. If 2 bites had this effect on me, I shudder to think how others who ate that tuna might have fared. Shame on you HG & SB !! You lost a loyal customer that day. I dont trust you anymore. -Update: I mourn the loss of my best buffet no longer. A new buffet just opened up at University and 694 (on the way to HG & SB no less). We tried it and found our new favorite. Only $12 and better food on every count! Thats saying a lot considering how much I loved Hibachi Grill.. Your days are numbered guys. Theres a new place nearby and theyre doin it better than you.

Im not one to go public with my opinions but this place should be shut down. Clearly from the other reviews, we were also not the first to be hounded for a tip either. My family used to frequent this establishment until about a year ago. The food had gotten disgusting. It was ridiculously priced. We started feeling sick after we ate there. The clencher for us was one evening when we were at Sam s Club and saw them leaving with baskets of watermelon, a flatbed full of cakes - which fell on the floor only to be picked up and still taken to serve- but also a cart full of cat food and litter. I mean, an amount of cat supplies that would have lasted normal cat lovers about 2 or 3 years. Seriously, we have 3 cats so I know. This was after we saw some strange "racks" outside the back of the restaurant. At that point we were done with this place. Recently, we decided we wanted to give them one more chance since there wasnt anything apparent about the cat supplies that we saw. So, last week we gathered the courage only to go in and be hit with pure fish house stink. We promptly left. And yet again, tonight we thought if they pass the smell test, we will finally try it. The food was barely warm, flavor less, had slimy sauces. In short it was disgusting. ..even worse than before. So to pay $13 a person for that was plain stupid. Then to top it off, the "waitress" was rude and all we had was water. Mind you, this is a buffet. Not much service needed. She actually flipped the bill over right after I signed it to see if I left a tip on the card. Since I didnt, she said you know the total doesnt include a tip. Just so you know, and stormed off. Now, we tip and tip very well for service that deserves it. For all she knew, I was going to leave a cash tip. We were appalled. Then to really clench it, she did the little kid mouth back thing to my husband, not once but twice. She did it again when my husband was speaking with the manager about the horrible situation we had experienced. Sadly, the "manager" didnt seem to care less and refused to provide me with the contact information of the owners. Unbelievable. See yelp, yp and urbanspoon for more reviews.

First off, the selection of the food wasnt bad, could be better. Secondly, the service was TERRIBLE! They didnt refill our drinks, tried to collect plates as we were STILL using them, and rushed us to eat asking us to pay 3 times while we were still eating (we hadnt even gotten to dessert yet!!). But that wasnt the kicker for this review. When it was time to pay, I decided not to provide any tip as the service was the worst I have experienced in years. I put the total of the bill down w/o tip and they clearly pointed out that I did not tip and I could leave it right there (pointed at the tip spot). I said fine, I put down 2 dollars and stated that I was NOT impressed with the service and the waitress got mad, scribbled it out and said "I dont need it!" and proceeded to walk away stating in Mandarin that we did not give them a tip very loudly. Had they provided slightly better service, I wouldnt have had any issues with leaving a tip, but nope, not from me. Will continue to keep an eye on my bank statements as advised from other reviews. Will NEVER go back there. I shouldve read the reviews before going there, or else I would have just stayed away. UPDATE: After checking my bank statement today, they did indeed take the $2 tip that the waitress clearly said she did not want and scribbled out. Its only $2, but she didnt deserve even one penny with her service and attitude.

I read many reviews before I go to Chinese restaurant, there are positive and negative, most of the negative about the services. Sometimes, I talk to their manager about the services about what I read. But, their explanation are the same most of the time. Here , I want to share my experience about Chinese people. Chinese people are much more friendly to anyone compare to the many other ethnic groups, however, in their culture, they dont express their feelings in explicit way. They are preferred to express themselves in implicit way. In service industry, like the restaurant, most of waitress have language barrier, sometimes cannot communicate comfortably with fluent English, for this reasons, they do not talk to much their customers, or express more hospitality to their customers. I saw this situation in this restaurant. Actually, this restaurant has more options in terms of Japanese and Chinese style buffet items, for example, I found , sushi bar is good, they are really fresh, buffet is good, sea food are not too bad. I dont know how many people know about the soup bar, I learned that the soup is served after many hours boiling the fresh meat bones . Therefore, i really give good credit for this restaurant and recommend it to public!!!
