I was in town for business and had some time to kill so I decided to stop in for a coffee and bite to eat. The inside was very nice and clean and had a good vibe to it - but then I went over to the counter and the guy working was a complete jerk. He was bothered that I had my ear buds and then accused me of being hostile. Not sure if he had some other problems going on that day but I was completely taken aback by how abrasive he was. I apologized about the ear buds, took them out and he was still a jerk. He told me has was a 1 man show and would have to turn his back to me while he did things. I said okay and asked if I should wait at the counter or if he would prefer that I grab a seat. After I said this he got upset and once again accused me of being hostile, and then he kicked me out and said he would not serve me. I thought he was joking at first, but he was not. I think this place has nice potential and the coffee and quiche looked very good but the guy who works there is a complete joke and should probably not be in a customer service position. I hope that the owner reads this as I was very disappointed and embarrassed about the entire situation and how I was treated.

This is a great coffee shop with awesome food and drinks. I would like to tell the owner that I am so impressed. The second thing that I would say though is that I am consistently left with the feeling that I have somehow burdened the staff. I realize that theyre all really cool - we get it. Now, please treat me like my five bucks and tip money mean something -or- as if I might belong in your presence. Are you wearing slippers back there? Did you just wake up? Pay attention to the order, move your feet, and get the coffee. Smile. In the service industry, you fake it. We all do.

The only coffee here that is premade is the coffee of the day. Otherwise, they grind the beans for each order. It takes a little longer if you order a coffee that isnt the daily one, but no matter which one you order, the coffee will be great. There are food items available for purchase as well. The outdoor seating area is comfortable, so if you arrive and have your pet, you can still enjoy a cup of great coffee.

I go to Black Sheep almost weekly, and the service is always excellent and friendly. The shop has a ton of regulars, which is always a good sign. Each drink is crafted by hand, not by a machine, as is all the amazing food. NO prepackaged food - and the coffee is roasted on site, organics too! Beautiful space - huge fireplace, comfy chairs, local artists on the walls.

Good food, great staff and nice atmosphere. I come here several times a month and always enjoy the experience. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice spot to light for an hour or two to relax with a bite and sup. ☺ Do remember, though, that they close early (3 p.m.) Sunday and Monday. The rest of the week has normal hours.

I was hesitant because of some negative reviews. It happen to be a perfect mid point for a meeting, so we went for it! Each cup of coffee is freshly ground & brewed!! It was delicious! The nibbles looked tasty too (maybe next time). The service was courteous & polite. My bus partner & I plan on meeting here regularly. :-)

Ive gone in here multiple times because its the only coffee shop close to where I work. They close really early and every time I stop in all the employees have a scowl on their face and seem like they dont care to be at work. A really unfriendly bunch. One of the mostly unwelcoming coffee shops.

Ordered a macchiato and it was layered at all. A proper macchiato has a white layer of foam on top, this was just mediocre espresso with some steamed milk. Not even close to the amount of foam it should have. But the pour over coffee did use quality beans and you could taste the nodes.

I love the black sheep! their chai tea is magnificent... not the kind made from mixes that youll find at most places (yuck!). Peter, the owner, is really knowledgeable... he knows his coffee! We also buy our coffee beans from there (fresh roasted right there). I highly suggest it!

I Love spending a Saturday morning/afternoon here. The atmosphere is so cozy! The coffee is great and the bakery items are fresh and delicious! I cant help but stop for a coffee to go before I head to work during the week. The baristas are very friendly and make great lattes!

Hands down, the best lattes anywhere! One of my favorite props to Black Sheep is that they love the art of coffee making....and you wont feel jipped if you have to order soy. The froth is so good I always ask (after my first delightful SIP), "are you sure this is soy?"

We really enjoy the coffee, especially the miel however we have been then many times and the two young men that work Saturday afternoon NEVER greet us, have a conversation with us or thank us for our business, they basically grunt like cavemen. No tip for them!!!!!

Always friendly just wish a kitchen person would help at the counter when its real busy. I read another reveiw about dimestore deserts and patio furniture taking up the sidewalk and none of that is true so dont believe everything you read. Also it is dog friendly!

One of the first places in the twin cities to serve high quality coffee. I used to commute 40 minutes just for their delicious cappuccinos. Although much closer options have opened for me since then, I will always love them for their coffee and breakfast quiche.

Great neighborhood cafe. The prices are on par with the coffee chains and I feel confident these are much higher quality ingredients. I also loved the latte art they did. I was here for a few hours doing some work and its a pretty solid, family-friendly place.

Good Cafe with lots of room for studying. Usually quiet with moderate amount of chatter. Their espresso based coffee is excellent. Their baristas are well trained. They know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte. Their blueberry scones are amazing!

Coffee is good, pastries are good. Sandwiches are pretty tasty. 1 star for having bone piece in my sandwich meat that chipped one of my teeth severely to a point of almost needing a crown. Person behind the counter seemed uninterested and didnt believe it.

The drinks and atmosphere alone are the reason to come here. Big comfy seats, free WiFi, and their signature Painters Mocha make this place a safe bet to visit if you need a caffeine fix. Just make sure you check their hours before you stop by.
