Ah Perkins - this is where I shall start. Since I am an avid user of places and things, why not start with a stock standard quasi American place to eat. Perkins Restaurant - Now Im a smallish kinda woman, but I’m an eater - I do not like presumptions on the part of restaurants, servers or chef’s, or wanna be chef’s parading around in the kitchen of a Perkins. So we order. I decide on the nachos, fairly safe, easy, and as described via their website as: “ULTIMATE NACHOS Choice of Cajun-seasoned chicken or ground beef with black bean corn relish, crispy jalapeños, queso, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa and sour cream on crispy tortilla chips.” - So I go with the ground beef version. I would like to first focus on the food, the service was strange enough to warrant its own write up - but let’s just focus here on food since that is what they say they are good at. Well, we wait - and then it comes. What was given to me was stale corn chips drenched in hot cooking oil to refresh them. Some chopped up hamburger patty trying hard to appear as nacho meat - on a very long rectangular plate. A modest drizzling of milky/watery sour cream topped what I would ONLY consider Ultimate Nachos if I were trying to make something at home or if I were still in college attempting to make munchies for myself while higher than a KITE. Nothing on this plate constituted ‘Ultimate’ - NOTHING - the coarsely chopped up hamburger patty was NOT seasoned, the so called cook had simply chopped up a hamburger patty, there was no black bean corn relish, no jalapenos, no queso, there were chopped up red onions and tomato, and lettuce…but alas the wrong kind - more like the flappy end bits of decorative lettuce from about two days previous. Such a disappointment - so I returned the plate. The plate was about $8 and change, my main concern was the idea that what I was presented with something that would be akin to what I would attempt to make at home in a pinch while smoking a splif, or as I said if one was in college trying to make some munchies with what they had laying about. Since I am sitting in what is advertised as a restaurant and I am NOW paying restaurant prices.....I was hoping that the plate would be professional and up to some sort of standard. Nope. The presentation was sloppy, the service was remedial. No check ins by the waitstaff, no offers of refreshing drinks - such a slip shod operation. Cant recommend -

This is definitely not my favorite Perkins. The food is good, but the last three times Ive been there, the service has been terrible. This location is close to my college, so I go there occasionally with friends to do homework in the evening. The service is inattentive, and if you want a refill on your "bottomless" coffee or tea, you will probably have to go up to the host stand and ask for it. Usually the waiter or waitress will only refill the "bottomless" coffee/tea once. The last time I was there was with a group of about 8 people for dinner and studying. Because of the size of our group, we understood when service was slow. But after we had been there for about an hour and hadnt seen the waitress once since she brought us our food, we started to wonder. She never came back to refill our drinks, so all of our glasses were empty, including those of us who had paid for bottomless coffee. Finally I saw her across the room and made eye contact, smiled, and tried to get her attention, but she walked away. This happened a few times. (Its worth mentioning that the restaurant was nearly empty.) After a while I went to the host stand and (politely) asked the manager if we could get some refills. He said hed send our server right out, but still the waitress never came. After being in the restaurant for about 2.5 hours, never having our drinks refilled or being asked how the food was, I finally was able to get the waitress to come over. I made sure to ask nicely for more drinks, but after she left, a couple of my friends told me that when her back was turned to me she was making a face and mocking me. For asking her to do her job. Needless to say, I wasnt amused.

Despite their mediocre food and services that kept me away from this place for years, I ventured out yesterday with my senior neighbor for dinner. I ordered Steak Medallion & Shrimp for each of us, their most expensive dish, to celebrate my friends special occasion. After another unimpressive dining experience, I asked the waiter if there is a senior discount. He blurted out saying we should have checked out the backside of menu, but rudely pointed out that our dishes were not one of senior menu. Let me tell you something: you would mention kids menu, then why not seniors menu. By the way, why did it take several minutes to bring an extra paper napkin to the table? For the first time, I did not leave a tip. The manager when I brought my experience to her attention quietly in calm voice, she looked dumbfounded, It figures. I think this restaurant can only survive for its location being near the Super Target. Why anyone in right mind will go here where terrible services are the norm and has-never-been-any-good food are served all the time, I wonder.

We often go out of our way to eat at this Perkins. The service, food, and overall dining experience are usually really good. Sadly, this last visit was less than stellar. The place was pretty busy on a Wednesday evening. Our party and several others waited to be greeted and sat for way too long, and others came in after us and were given attention and service before us. At our table our server was friendly, quick and helpful. But then when our food finally came out, my chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back. My family ate most of their dinner before my chicken came out a second time, and then I realized my fork had been taken away and not returned. I finally got to eat about 20 minutes after my dinner companions. The food was okay, but seemed to have been microwaved (the asparagus had become rubbery). Overall, nothing really bad, but it felt like too many strikes for a mediocre dinner. Ill probably go back to this Perkins sometime, though this trip was pretty bad.

Ive been coming to this place the last 10+ years. A racist incident with the manager "Robyn Kurtti" recently was inappropriate after I had been cooperative with her request at the time. She should not have brought up my race, made a rude remark about it, then even tried to relate to me by saying her grand-daughter is also the same ethnicity as I when she realized I was not going to sit there and take her ignorant comments. Yes I called her out and yes I walked away from the rude ignorant vibe she was giving off and she continue to try to have her security guy from Interstate Security harass me all the way to my car. Very disappointing to know someone like this is here at a place I have come to for several reasons in the past. Im glad I spoke up and will continue to do so against racist/rude ignorant behavior like Robyn Kurtti displayed.

I always order grilled cheese and tomato soup when I go to Perkins. This was the first time Ive gone to this location and I will not be going back. The waiter was in a bad mood, might have been a bad day for tips. Anyway, I only got one slice of cheese on my sandwich, it was very dry as you can tell. When I asked to have it remade he said thats exactly how it would be made again. Oh, and they were out of tomato soup and replaced it with unsalted french fries which I was charged additional for. I gave this a 2 star instead of 1 because the cheese did taste good, there just was not enough.
