Unfortunately I cannot rate my experience because we did not stay. I am simply writing this to give a suggestion to the Penalty Box Bar and Grille. There are not many options for restaurants in this area-- my husband and I were thinking we would try it out because we were craving some "Sports Bar" type food. (The only other sit down food option in the area is Mexican) We have a one year old that was going to be eating with us, I guess I didnt really think anything about it because it is a Sports Bar and Grille (I was thinking it would be kind of a Buffalo Wild Wings/ Jakes kind of atmosphere) Unfortunately, upon arrival, we discovered all the tables in the restaurant are "high" There were a couple booths (which were high as well) So we thought "well, this will be our first attempt at eating with our baby in a booster seat" but this was not the case as they did not have any booster chairs to place in the booth. The bartender (who was very nice) said they did have highchairs, but they were not to the height of the tables so wouldnt work. I dont know if maybe it is the Penalty Boxs intent to have more of a bar atmosphere rather than a family friendly restaurant atmosphere--- which there is nothing wrong with a bar atmosphere, but I feel they would probably get more "family" business during the lunch and dinner hours if it was more conducive to bringing your children. Just my 2 cents :)

This place has the worse customer service . It was my first time walking into the place because I heard that their burgers were really good. We walked in for the first time me and my teenage son and did not know if we should seat ourselves or what? One of the server saw us and walked right by, not even a smile or even a hello. All the tables were full except the one by the entry door that we can see where we did not want to eat dinner. So we approach the bar and asked if we could sit here? just to have dinner? and the mean bleach ugly blonde hair was so rude and said im sure there are tables where you can sit!!!! I immediately turned around and left. Funny how I can see other reviews and this blonde was also mention. How does she still work there? I then called to talked to the manager and who ever this person was did not even apologize or felt symphothetic. All she said was ok Ill talk to her about it and got off the phone. I dont care how good their food can be but I will never spend a penny there because there is no customer service. They were just rude. I will not recommend this restuarant to anyone because of my terrible exsperience.

I went to the penalty box to watch a hockey game with the Minnesota Wild and the Dallas Stars I called the head to see if they have the game on I show up to the bar empty and walk in and see that they have the hockey game on 1 TV with music playing so I ask a server if they could turn the sound on the hockey game and she said yes then she came back to me insane all Im sorry but we want music on tonight this is called the penalty box hey hockey term for those who do not know hockey now that blows me away that with a dozen people inside that somebody comes to their bar and wants to watch a hockey game that they would not turn the sound on I will never visit this establishment again under any circumstances Im sorry you did not get my business and then I could not write their food but at that point where you are a hockey bar and you do not playing a hockey game and you have no customers you do the math

I was at the Penalty Box having a beer and minding my own business and wanted to withdraw some cash to pay for my drinks and play the video games. When I approached the badly bleach blond manager I let her know that the cash machine was out of money. She was too busy pulling tabs to care that I just needed some cash. She stated she would refill it when she had time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She would not refill the cash machine because she was PLAYING PULL TABS and didnt want any other pull tab players to be able to access cash and play into her box! Criminal behavior if you ask me. I then tried to address it with the "other owner", Shawn...I would have rather pulled my own teeth out with a dirty shoe horn. STAY AWAY FROM THERE!!!

This is a neighborhood bar that you wouldnt go out of your way to go to. But ya know what? They have VERY good burgers!!! And VERY nice bartenders! I have my three favorite staff members and when I need something, Im not afraid to call out or go up to our waitress. Yes, wait service at the tables can be slow, but not always. Dancing there is ok, but the dance floor is super small, theyd be better off taking out the dividing wall, but that may be a retaining wall, idk. Its clean and they have all the usual things, pull tabs, bands on weekends, a jute box, bar bingo and good specials. The overhead music is usually way too loud though.

Went there for a late lunch one Sunday. While there were not a lot of people in the place, we found the service very good and prompt. The decor was your typical sports bar scene, which is acceptable. This is not a expensive sit down restaurant. I had heard that their burgers are very good and they are. I am picky with burgers and their burgers are very good. I will definitely go back there.

Ive had ok and great experiences at penalty box. Id like to see the walleye fingers come back. The burger baskets are great, with lots of potato options for your mood. I hope there sales get them through these tough times. I like sitting outside, but because of thiefs Sunday is inside only. The hater comments dont make any sense based on my experiences, five stars from me.

This place is horrible! The service is slow and the waitress and waiters are rude. I can get better food at McDonalds for 1/3 of the price! Stay away. As for the persons comment below, I think you need to get a life and allow people to speak their mind. If you like the penalty box then fine but its your opinion, let other people tell their expeiriences and grow up.

Ive gone here a couple times and the service is absolutely horrible every time. They are extremely rude, and very slow. You ask for a drink and they dissappear into the back for 15 min. I just called there to order food for take out and the lady who answered the phone hung up on me. On top of it, their drinks are rediculously over priced

Im guessing from the "ugly" comment that previous reviewer must have a personal issue with one person. What we found was a well run restaurant with the best service Ive had in awhile, and we dine out a lot. The food is good, its comfortable and had a good band last night. Well be back!
