I can honestly say that any Hy-Vee food store Ive been in, since their remodeling/expansion, has been a good experience. The New Hope location is one of my favorite, since its not only more conveniently located for my needs, it generally has a better product selection compared to any Cub Foods. It feels cleaner, more welcoming and is more well-lit in the parking lot as well as the store itself. I personally hope they drive Cubs Foods to strive for excellence now that theres a major competitor nearby. This Hy-Vee has a North Memorial Express Clinic available. Its similar to a CVS Minute Clinic so youll be in and out quickly for minor ailments. Their pharmacy is very quick with prescription orders as well. The Market Grille is a wonderful addition and Ive experienced it multiple times for the Sunday Brunch and for regular dinners. For the brunch, they also allow you to walk outside the restaurant to get meals from the Italian and Asian Express sections, if youd like. The Bakery is exceptional. If you havent tried their cupcakes or tortes, I highly recommend them. They also sport some amazing cake pops that are larger and cheaper than those youd find at Starbucks. Speaking of which, theres a small Starbucks stand inside the main entrance, along with a Post Office, and even dry cleaning near the Customer Service area. Their bathrooms are located in front, next to Customer Service and are comfortably-sized, individual rooms instead of designating two larger public rooms to separate gender. Changing/mother rooms are also available to those that require it. The Wine and Spirits section of Hy-Vee has a wide selection and is very comfortable--hosting tastings from time to time, as well. They have their event/tasting center in the back, next to the walk-in cooler. The only downside is that I would have preferred the layout better if the Wine/Spirit section was accessible from the inside of the store--separate, but still accessible without going outside. This does negate the amount of carts and children that are roaming through the aisles, though. The employees are much more friendly than your regular food store, in my opinion. They dont give off a feeling that youre bothering them if you require assistance. Everyone has their off days, and no ones perfect, but the majority of the staff has a really positive attitude and air about them.

My husband and I were traveling and stopped here to pick up groceries to fill our cooler for our trip up north. We arrived just before 9:00 pm, as the deli was closing. 3 employees were tearing down the meat slicers and closing the deli cases. I was walking around the cases looking at their pre-packaged meats and cheeses but didnt see what I was specifically looking for. A deli employee asked if I needed anything and I told her yes, but I see theyre closing for the evening so Ill find something pre-packaged. She wouldnt have it. She told me that if a deli employee is present, they will always help. Such a friendly offer, considering they were closing. She happily sliced up what I wanted, and even offered to get more items if I needed. That was so kind and speaks volumes of the quality of service Hy-Vee provides. I then went to the beauty section to get some travel-sized shampoo/conditioner. I didnt immediately see what I was looking for. A beauty department employee approached me and offered assistance with a smile. She helped me find what I was looking for, and even saved me money! The staff at Hy-Vee are trained well and offer service comparable to the other local high-end grocery chains. I travel to the area frequently, and will make this store my go-to from now on. The parking lot is ample, selection is vast, and prices are very reasonable.

WOW! Is this what a grocery store is SUPPOSED to be like in a large city? Im REALLY impressed. Best grocery store in the Twin Cities. This will change EVERYTHING in the cities. Im SOLD! Prices are Equal or better than Cub. Gets down to Walmart prices on many items. More variety of products than anything in the cities. I can see why Cub Foods is scared and has lowered prices. There is NO REASON TO GO TO CUB, when you have a HY-VEE. Hy-Vee makes it QUITE CLEAR, Cub Foods is nothing more than a over-priced dirty Walmart. Hy-Vee ALSO does things that Byerlys/Lunds SHOULD be doing and could even give Whole Foods a run, they have a whole over-priced "heathy foods" section too. Chinese at a reasonable price. Pizza Bar, Fried chicken bar, Fresh take out bar. Bakery where stuff is made fresh, not ruined with freezer burn like Byerlys/Lunds, yet cheaper too. Good deli. Overly friendly staff. Starbucks. They bag your groceries. NO SELF CHECK OUT ISLES!!!!!!! Only downside is maybe some of the produce and its busy.

Having shopped at many stores here in the Minneapolis area, I would say this is the nicest, most well stocked, cleanest, friendly staffed store in the metro area. I will probably never visit a Cub Foods again. The most accurate review I can offer: 1) Quality of service, meats, produce, and bakery are on par with Byerly, Lunds, Jerrys and Kowalskis, and superior to other chain stores and independents. 2) Variety of products is better than Cub, Super Target, Walmart, Coborns, Super Value, Jerrys or Rainbow . 3) Prices are not as good as Walmart, but are about equal to Cub and Rainbow, and much more affordable than Coburns, SuperValue, Byerlys, Lunds, Kowalskis, Driskills, Jerrys, or Super Target. 4) Natural/health food selection is not quite what you will find at Whole Foods or Lakewinds, but is triple or better the variety found at any other chain store mentioned above, and at a far better price point than any other local source I have found.

The store has good selection, good layout, but I changed my five star review to a one star review for terrible experiences using their grocery pickup service. Ordering online is easy. The process of getting your grocery order is a mess (weve tried twice, never again). On both occasions weve had forgotten items, long waits, confusion among the staff, todays order they seemed to completely forget about so they not so discretely put it together while we waited in the parking lot. They still forgot an item that we paid for, even with their added time to get it right. Then it took five minutes just to get the receipt after loading up the groceries. On the other occasion they didnt include an item we ordered, but didnt charge us (presumably because they didnt have it). It would have been nice for them to tell us that they didnt include the item, so we didnt get home without it then have to get back in the car to go to Cub to buy it.

I went the first time in this HyVees opening day. Having previous experience with HyVee in other states, I looked forward to the "customer first" atmosphere I was accustomed to in those stores. I was dismayed, however, to find most of the employees were typical for Minnesota--more focused on task then customer, argumentative and unhelpful in general. I left the store with no desire to go back. Fast forward to yesterday when I decided to go with my daughter-in-law to explore vegan pantry goods in the HealthMarket section of the store. I have to report I was delighted the stores employees were much more responsive to customers than they were on opening day. Every interaction was pleasant and went out of their way to help us find the exact item we needed. Its clear HyVee is truly bringing their "customer first" attitude to the Minnesota shopping experience. Brava! Bravo! Ill be back!
