When I review a Mexican casual food place, I dont set the impossibly high standard that it tastes like my Mexican abuelitas cooking, but I do keep an eye out for a few things: good seasoning, good sides (e.g. are the beans and rice place fillers, or actually tasty, are the salsas and toppings like lettuce, avocado, etc. generous and fresh looking), and is there more than just white peoples meat preferences on offer (more than shredded chicken or pork and beef silrloin). Pineda Tacos wins on basically all these fronts. Even at the uber-suburban location of Plymouth, there are still a range of seasoning preparations for the meats - even if there are none of the more culturally specific options like beef tongue still on the menu (sadly removed from lack of interest at some point). The "Plate/Platillo" is a good bet - you get two different portions of meat (I got the "chicken with green salsa" and carne asada) and it comes with rice, beans, toppings and 5 tortillas on the side. Despite being *incredibly hangry* by the time I ate, I left with enough for another small lunch. The guac is great, though a little oniony. The burrito is delicious, despite being a little lean on the toppings thst arent beans/meat/rice. My least favorite part was that the pico de gallo salsa had an added spice in it (an extra chile type?) that masked its fresh, basic flavor. Maybe this is a regional thing Ive just never encountered, but I didnt love it. Overall, though, a super solid and authetic casual Mexican place in the suburbs, and I will definitely be back.

This place is pretty good. Would have given 5 stars but later that day it made me need to use the john really bad if you know what I mean. They should limit how many jalipenos you can have at the salsa bar, because I had probably too many and you know what happend next. At least have a sign warning about the consequences? Great burritos and friendly staff! Would eat again and probably just take some tums if Im haveing jalipinos on my stuff. My 3 large sons also like to come here sometimes when we leave the house so Id say its kid friendly! We just bring extra plastic bags to bring home extra salsa from the salsa bar! And pro tip- they throw all of yesterdays chips away behind the building and their really not bad, and FREE!!! Thanks

Been going to this place for 10 years and Ive never had an experience less than perfect. Great people, amazing food, unbeatable prices... Nothing less than wonderful. I havent had anything that comes close to beating it, in the cities or otherwise. Every time a friend visits from out of town, this is a mandatory stop. I cannot say enough about it: Id give 6 stars if I could. Even the old decor - saved over from the bad Italian joint that occupied the space before it - adds serious charm. I would go well out of my way to do whatever I could for this place.

I love Pineda Tacos, for the food & the prices! Its modest digs are a little deceiving. Willow Creek Theater (also great on price!), in Plymouth, Mn, is right across the parking lot from Pineda Tacos, so we often combine our night out to include both. I enjoy many of their dishes, havent tried them all, because I eat my favorites over & over. Theyre always friendly and this is one of our top places to go. Top 2 favorites here are the grilled chicken quesadilla & the taco bravo plate. YUMMM!

This place was fantastic! Some of the best tacos Ive ever had, especially the Chipotle Chicken. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean. Whatever you order comes with tortilla chips and access to the salsa bar, which includes 3 different kinds of salsa, jalapenos, cilantro, onions, and limes. Fast casual style; order your food, get your drink cup, seat yourself, and your order number is called out. My 3 taco combo was around $9, which is well worth the amount of food you get.

This place is a GEM. As a Texan, I LOVE Mexican food and miss it terribly living up here in Minnesota. Really friendly service and delicious food! I take people here and recommend it all the time! I always opt for the three taco dinner, but have heard the other dishes are great too! The fixings bar is great as well, with three types of salsas, cilantro, onion, fresh jalapenos, and lime slices all for free.

This place needs to take some lessons in real taquitos from the south. I have never ate season-less Mexican food before, food is not worth the cost. Ive been around Mexican food for over 3O years and with my mom owning a restaurant for 13 years I am a pretty good judge of good food and Im sorry to say this is not it. Sorry and i hope you take this productive criticism and improve on your cooking.

Pick the "container", point at the meat you want in it - simple as that. The barbacoa quesadilla meal is a ton of food and completely awesome. Their spicy homemade taqueria red salsa is some of the best salsa Ive ever had. Food is always served fairly quickly and I havent had any issues with my order being messed up. Standard strip-mall digs, but the food is completely worth a trip.

I always get the chimichanga, Im always satisfied. Different meat fillings are all the variety I need for my chimi. Prices come out to about $11/plate. But one chimichanga can realistically feed two people. Was there for lunch today and the line went out the door! But the line moved very quickly and my food was ready in about two minutes, same great chimichanga as always.

While better exists (this aint no foodie joint (Masa is gone, get over it)), its by far a better choice than any chain, and the best in the western suburbs. The white Formica interior not withstanding, the food is not better or worse than Maya in NE or Tavial, Homi, Boca or South Robert in St Paul. If decor matters to you, go to hipsterville (NE) or Boca.

Fantastic food. When I go to Pineda, I usually just get whatever is on special that week or that day. I havent been disappointed yet. BIG burrito that rivals Chipotle and tastes better IMO. The home made chips are just like the chips I get when Im in south Texas and they are wonderful. Great value, lots to eat. I go whenever Im passing through Plymouth.

Coming from Denver where theres an abundance of exceptional Mexican restaurants, Ive had a very dreadful time finding a Mexican restaurant in the Twin Cities that would compare or come close to the ones in Denver. I was introduced to Pineda Tacos by a co-worker and I can now say and look forward to going there for Mexican food that will not disappoint!

Despite its unsuspecting location, this place is 100% legit. Easily the best barbaqoa I have had in the cities and at great prices. The line can get pretty long 11:30 - 12:30, but is still well worth the wait. For those who have a massive appetite, check out their "big burrito" - comes with two choices of meat and will be bigger than your forearm.

Asked for a chimi with no beans, got chimi with beans. Brought it back up and asked for one without beans. They actually argued with me claiming I never said "no beans". Refused to replace it. Horrendous service. Apparently theyre willing to lose a 3x a week customer over a CHIMI.
