During my freshmen year @ the UMN back in 2011, this place was the bomb. Even up until 2015 I want to say it was still unreal. However, I went last weekend and was disgusted. The flavor is still there and still unreal. Quality pizza. But 1 star because the prices have been jacked way up and the size of the slices have been jacked way down. What a rip off! Its like paying for pizza @ a wild or twins game. Tiny slices compared to what they used to be. I was utterly shocked @ how noticeably smaller the pizzas were and the price jack. Absolutely disgusting. Frank and Andreas a block down is the new Mesa. There slices are the same size as Mesas OLD and better slices. Plus they have cheesesteaks plus they are a dime cheaper for twice the size of Mesa. Mesa should go extinct in the next couple of years hopefully. They have let me down and all my buddies who came in with me down. Two slices used to make me extremely full. This time I ate 3 slices without any problems, and was still hungry. Yuck. Horrible value. Mesa... what happened man.... you used to be thee spot. I dont know if its a new owner and I dont write many google reviews, but I was disgusted. Never going to Mesa again. They have lost a loooong time customer.

If youve ever seen creative pizza creations on a menu and wished you could try that without having to order an entire pizza...or if you just want to try more than one creative creation in the same meal...this place is for you. They usually have a couple dozen varieties available by the slice. A few examples: chicken penne alfredo, lasagna (my fave- tomato sauce & ricotta under a sheet of pasta, covered in cheese), pesto portobello, spicy burrito, gyro, and the ever popular (and surprisingly addictive) mac & cheese pizza. They have a couple regular types for the unadventurous but thats not why you come here...unless youre just desperate for pepperoni at 1:45 a.m. Downside: Very little seating, and parking challenges (theres a small pay lot just beyond their door so drive slowly and watch for the entrance).

Went here today with a co-worker for the first time and was really disappointed. They have the pizza sitting under a light, then throw it in an oven to reheat it. The employee was what really made the experience a negative one. He did not greet us as we walked in, which is fine, but acted annoyed when I was confused about how to order. When we went to pay, he said something that confused me so I said "what?" and he jolted his head back like he was offended and then repeated what he said in a more aggressive tone. Being from out of state, I was excited to try a new pizza place, but Mesa just disappointed on every aspect of quality and service. Definitely wont be back.

Ordered a delivery pizza at 9 pm. Waited until 11 pm to call them back since I had yet to receive a call from them being here. They told me their delivery driver had called me and said I would be picking it up in store??? Even tho none of that ever happened, and they chuckled it off to a new delivery driver. This is the 2nd time in a row theyve royally screwed up on my delivery order. I wouldnt suggest ordering delivery, and with their increasing per slice price, Id recommend going elsewhere for pizza.

Theres not much I can say bad about this place. The pizza is a great value. You get a very large slice for pretty cheap. They have great variety in their pizza--such as Mac and Cheese, Chicken and Honey Mustard, etc. And they all taste great! The people that work their match the University location, and they are nice and helpful. Also, this place is open until like 2:30am on weekdays and 3:30am on weekends, and they deliver late! Whats not to love! Its my favorite pizza joint.

The pizza here is fantastic. Pizza on Dubuque is still my favorite pizza in Iowa City but these guys are a great competitor. They offer an insane variety of unique pizza toppings. Every time I come, I try a different one. So far Ive tried the macaroni and cheese, the gyro, chicken parm and the spicy chicken burrito. I was pleasantly surprised with all of them, they were all delicious. This place is worth checking out...I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu :)

My bf and I each got 1 slice for a snack and it was great! Less than $10 and we left full but not stuffed :) the pizza was reallyyyyy good I would definitely frequent this place. The selection is huge! And it only takes a couple minutes for them to pop it in the oven. The crust on the bottom was perfectly crispy and the crust was crispy yet soft. I got the tomato, spinach, and feta (AMAZING) and he got their new curry zucchini slice (really good and nice n spicy).

Normally I would rate this place as a 5, since I always go there after bar close. However, the last time I was there I was kicked out AFTER I had paid but before I had received my pizza. For some reason they thought I had snuck into the pick up line to steal someone elses pizza. Staff was extremely rude to me during this incident, and Im not sure if Im ever going to go back. This is unfortunate since I love their pizza

I judge pizza joints on their slice of peperoni. When fresh, MESAs pepperoni slice is heaven on a crunchy thin crust. Their other pizza combinations are also well thoughtout and constantly ahead of the curve as far as flavor trends go. MESA has the best crust for a convential oven pizza place. Very inexpensive. $13 for a HUGE pepperoni pizza (Huge = 20") Fast Free delivery? I lived off this stuff for a while.

Its a fun place to bring people who are new to dinky town for the novelty of it. Lots of different, sometimes out of the world, pizza topings. But I dont eat there regularly just because the shop is a bit small, and though the pizza is great I am more into generic pizza hut I guess. But a great place to go if you have freinds visiting the U or dinky town and they want to try a different spin on pizza.

If theres only one place in Dinkytown you visit, make sure its Mesa Pizza. The slices are big, flavorful, and original. Combined with fast service, and funny crew with a dry sense of humor, this place cannot be missed. They are constantly coming out with new, original combinations. During the day the line isnt too bad, but the place is packed after midnight on Thursday-Saturday nights.

The pizza is always good. However. I was charged for someone ELSES order, and when I called to get it fixed, I was told the owner/GM would call me the next afternoon. I have yet to hear from him. I hate to say it, because the pizza is always fantastic, but I will never order from them again. They have yet to fix a charge of over $50 and refund it to me. Terrible customer service

My favorite pizza place! They have so many different kids, including macaroni and cheese, gyro, philly cheese steak and the Southern Gentleman (complete with mashed potatoes and bacon! Mmmmm!). I have never once been disappointed. We usually order delivery and not only is it super amazing and hot, it arrives fast! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves pizza :)
