This place is a mixed bag. The food is very good; some of the best Chinese food Ive had. However, there are issues. I went there with my family last night and had a whole fish dish which, thankfully the rest of my family did not have. I got food poisoning from the fish. Thats my biggest concern. Also of concern: - They rate the dishes for hotness with 1 to 4 peppers. The ratings are inaccurate to say the least. Ive had dishes rated 1 pepper that were so hot that I could not eat them. Ive had other dishes rated with three peppers, some of them were very hot and some were quite mild. The pepper rating is simply not consistent. - We ordered a couple appetizers last night and 3 main dishes. The appetizers were brought to our table along with the main dishes. Appetizers should always be brought out first with the main courses to follow. - The service is spotty. Last night was not a great night. In addition to the appetizers being combined with the main courses, the kitchen help and waiters were in the center of the dining hall having a loud conversation and laughing it up. This went on for an extended period of time. It was distracting and inappropriate. So great food but with the issues mentioned above I wont soon be returning. Very disappointing because the food is worthy of great praise but the experience ends up being a big disappointment for the concerns I mentioned.

I used to like the lunch special/buffet (3 items + rice/noodles) when it was cheap and the amount was good. Now the price has gone up a little, which is one of the many reasons we go there a little less often than before. My husband and I usually just order one lunch special since we normally dont eat a lot for lunch. Today, we went there as usual. But the lady who served us food only gave us teeny tiny bit of food when she saw us ordering together. I thought they may have reduced their serving amount in general. But later I saw the people behind us all got a huge amount of food in their plates. I dont understand the logic. Was it because we two ordered one plate so we should get less than others? Arent we paying the same amount of money for the meal as others even though we share the food? Where does this discrimination come from? It actually happened to us in the past as well. I wish the servers can be more fair and reasonable. Otherwise, we would not come here as often.

Visit 1. Group dinner; They have rooms which you can reserve for group dinners, so you get little privacy from day to day bustle. But they cant seat more than 8-10 people comfortably. good options on the menu and food was 4star. Visit 2. Lunch combo takeaway; less variety, food was 3 stars. Edible, somewhat tasty, but not something youll crave. What I liked was, for a mid day office meal, perfect place. There was line for the combo meal, yet I was in and out in 3 minutes! And the quantity!!!! Wow! Wayy better than panda express at the U, for a similar price!

Once rated in the Top-50 of Chinese restaurants in the Nation, this somewhat popular restaurant offers a wide-variety of authentic Szechuan dishes coupled with the American Chinese classics (e.g. fried egg rolls, General Tsos Chicken, fried rice, etc.) but does so in a rather un-oblivious way. At moments, you believe the only answer to your hunger is cheap lunch combo they offer but take the time to peruse the many options they have. Their menu is large, the staff is hit-or-miss, and the food is HOT. I dont think I would have it any other way.

6/1/2017: Little Szechuan is very good in all aspects. They have a team of people covering the no frills dining room with everybody pitching in to provide a very nice experience. I ordered fried won tons which were just okay but the Szechuan spicy beef (see pix) was far better than I expected. They present it in a giant bowl served with a little white rice which isnt enough for the huge amount of spicy beef but they offered more. Everything about Little Szechuan is outstanding except the won tons and the parking which isnt their fault.

Friendly staff except one lady who seemed to be yelling and told us the kitchen is closed and if you need more food, let us know now. May be she just had a bad day or something. We had rice, shrimp, tilapia and chicken. The chicken came with a lot of dry red chilli peppers compared to the actual pieces of chicken! The food was delicious but very hot as in spicy hot!! But overall, it was cheap as you get a giant bowl of food for $15.

Probably my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. Every time I eat here its almost an out of body experience. Its so damn good. Every birthday its my spot. The food is so good I gorge myself and feel like a beached whale for a day or two. I was broken hearted when there other location in St Paul changed their menu, but these guys are staying true to the old school. God bless them!!!

I went to this place to eat lunch last week. The food that they served was not that bad. However, when I was about to pay, they forced me to pay to tip. They said to me that "in America, they must tip to the restaurant." So I was really astonished by the way they treat their customer in a rude way. I was disappointed by their service. I dont recommend this rude restaurant!!

Food is was over priced. The sesame chicken was too sweet so I guess its sweet and sour just like the other comments(which I hoped I had read first). I asked for a menu because I could find one online and they told me the menu was online only.... Dont waste your hard earned money here. Food isnt that good for what you pay. $20 and I wasnt happy.

Really good lunch special deal here. 3 items + rice/noodles etc... for like 9 bucks... The price has increased since opening.. so I dont come here as often. The food is really authentic and rich though. I love this place. It gets quite busy during lunch, so either come early, or after 1pm. The lunch special starts from 11 and runs til 2pm.

The service was good, food was decent but keep in mind this location now caters to college students. The food isnt as good as it used to be when it was just one location in Saint Paul. Back then, Little Szechuan had the offered the most authentic Szechuan dishes, similar to many I found while working in China.

3$ for a "home made" egg roll that Im pretty sure was bought at target and microwaved. The "sesame chicken" was sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. No idea how they have 4.5 stars but for the price, I would expect way better quality... Or, at the very least, larger portions.

Little Szechuan is not your usual Chinese restaurant. While they serve the usual staples you find at Chinese restaurants, you miss so much if you dont opt for their more authentic cuisine. Their food is incredible, and I am sorely disappointed that their nearer West End location has closed
