This restaurant was a mixed experience. The decor is pleasant and fun, a nice mix of Asia and contemporary, and good lighting. We sampled two specialty drinks and a lemon drop cocktail. All were exceptional. The 9.50 charge for the Lemon drop was a bit of a surprise compared to a 7-9 charge for all the specialty drinks. The smoked duck pot stickers (4) were flavorless and small. Not worth the money. The Satay (1 skewer) was decent, and at 2$ priced right. The chicken was overcooked and the paired peanut sauce was bland. The beef was cooked perfectly, the sesame soy sauce was flavorless. The eggplant was pleasant and the mint sauce paired nicely. The fried rice was fresh and cooked perfectly, but was lacking something to make it special. The Kimchi Reuben was better than average and the twist on the original was nice, however it did not deserve the best cheap eat award it received from Minnesota Monthly. The sweet potato fries were good. The pho soup was good.

Loved it. However, if it is your birthday and your name is Jenna, they will most likely kick you out. Actually, the waiter I had did not like Js and repeatedly told me not to say any word with J in it, like the word Jenna for example. Regardless, the food was excellent! However, towards the end of the meal, my wife asked if they had Gelato. Henry (the waiter who does not like Js) interpreted the word Gelato to mean Jella-to, like some fancy Italian pudding. My wife was simply asking if they had Gelato, a form of Italian custard. Henry snapped, said we could not eat that, ran into the kitchen, grabbed every gelato platter they had and threw them on the ground, proceeded to stomp on them in a rage, and broke the door on the way out. Henry no longer works there... But until this day, I fear that I will run into another waitress who cannot stand Js or the word Jenna. May have been his ex girlfriend? Who knows ...

I would give less than 1 star if I could. We walked in for some late night food/drinks which this place is supposedly popular for. The bar was sparce and there were two other tables seated. The server/bartender ignored us until we approached the bar and let us know she had to set and example and we must order from the bar, and pay at the bar but she would bring us our food. We proceeded to order food at the bar and while we were browsing the drink menu back at our table , she came back to let us know we needed to pay for our food immediately while angrily tapping the menu on our table. So its too much trouble to come to the table to take our order but shell make it a point to let us know we need to pay before even getting our food?! Is this fn McDonalds?! We left....horrible experience do not recommend!

4.0 star rating 11/11/2016 1 check-in Ginger Hop has always been good to me (let me say though that the last batch of shrimp ceviche I had was terrible, but generally I love it so wont lower my rating unless it is bad again the next time i.e. lowered recipe quality to save $$). The happy hour has great options, including a burger and fries for $6, the best ceviche ever (usually) and cream cheese wontons with caramelized onions that are great. I also think they have a pretty good Tom Yum/Yam soup, but it doesnt come rice, which is weird, and last time I got it they didnt ask anything for spice level. This place is particularly good for a group because their menu has great asian items, as well as burgers and other options, so someone is sure to find something they like.

I ordered the Tom Yam soup. This soup, and variations of it, is my favorite type of Thai food. However, at Ginger Hop it is terrible. It is as if the chef has never actually seen or tasted this type of soup before. Too much Sriracha sauce, the wrong type of mushrooms (undercooked and WAY to many) and not enough fresh ingredients. Sad. My friend got the green curry. It was not even close to green (grey/beige would be a more accurate description). It had no kick. Minimal vegetables. In both of us ordered tofu in our meals. Mine was not crispy on the outside and several peices were shredded. The sweet potatoe fries were decent. Perhaps this restaurant would be better if they just gave up on the whole "Eastern" part and just focused on "North East."

I go here often and every time its consistently a great experience! Delicious and decent priced food, drinks and beer in FOOD : Im making my way through the menu and their hasnt been a bad dish yet, most have been really good, especially the Pad Thai and Fried Wontons! When they say something is spicy, they really mean it. Also prices are more than reasonable. ATMOSPHERE: Laid back and chill. Lights are dimmed enough without it being to dark. The music is really good, seems to be mostly classic rock mixed in with some modern hits. The staff is freaking amazing, all of them seem to be having a good time and take good care of you. OTHER: Their beer list is amazing. They offer Founders porter for ~5.00 which is a steal. Good variety of mixed drinks too.

Went with a large group of friends for dinner at 6pm on Saturday with a reservation and we were seated immediately. The service was friendly and thorough, we never had to ask for refills. They were so attentive they even asked us if the music was too loud for conversation in our area. I got the fat charlies turkey sandwich, my boyfriend got the Fire Noodles, and we shared sweet potato fries, veggie spring rolls, Veggie satay, and beef satay. Everything was really good and I know the rest of group who ordered a variety of things of the menu was likewise happy. The only issue we had was that some of our orders got mixed up the check but we were a big group of 18 people with separate checks and they quickly fixed their mistake. I will be back!

I went there for a friends birthday last night and the service was absolutely horrible! Note, it wasnt busy at all. I split a sandwich and salad with a friend. When we asked for ranch our waitress wasnt sure if they even had it, we asked for salt and pepper which never came. When we asked for the bill, it took about 20 minutes before I had to ask again. At one point one of my friends was in the bathroom stall and over heard our waitress talking to another worker about how annoying our table was (Real professional). I also saw her taking a shot with a customer while still working. I will never go back here nor recommend it to anyone.

Walked into Ginger Hop tonight 45 minutes to close for the first time. No hesitation to be sat which was a relief. Service was so crazy fast my boyfriend and I received water, beer, wontons, calamari, udon noodle curry bowl, and sweet and sour supreme with 17 minutes to finish our dinner. :) The food was so delicious and sizes were so plentiful we each had leftovers (the food was so good it was really hard to not eat all our food) The staff was so friendly and real. They were more than willing to let us stay past close to eat and still asked us about drink refills. This was an AWESOME experience cant wait to go again!
