Good food, but a bunch of CHEATERS! This restaurant doesnt have an automated system to do their billing so everything is totaled and billed by hand and in Chinese. The business is set up so they can get away with cheating people by adding an extra few bucks to their bill. For the past four times I visited this place, there has been at least $4.00 added to each bill. The last time I went, we decided to just take away some of the tip to the additional amount they put on our bill and THE WAITRESS HAD THE NERVE TO STOP US AND DEMAND FOR MORE TIP. Its one thing to cheat people on their bill, its another to demand a tip from the customer, not to mention the fact that they didnt even deserve it with the poor customer service. Its very easy for them to get away with robbery especially with the several $3-$4 items you order, no one is really gonna go out of their way to tally up their subtotal. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We wanted to try a new restaurant, went there last night. The food was ok. We ordered General Tsos chicken, the first batch had the taste and smell of old chicken. I wanted to just send it back and order something else, and the waitress would not allow us to subsititute anything else. She bourhg out a second order which was just as bad. We also ordered the Cashew Chicken and it was actually good and the Vegetable lo mein was good. The tea had no flavor. Our service was horrible. Our waitress was more concerned about other customers not even in her tables. She was flirting with the one gentleman that was sitting by himself, and then when we asked for the bill, she spent three minutes talking with some new customers before going to get the bill. This was also expensive, they would not even substitute brown rice for the white rice without charging extra. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Really nice restaurant, definitely my favorite place for Chinese food. Food is great, they have dim-sum so you can come in, be seated and be eating within 2-3 minutes. They also have a great menu with excellent roast duck and many other selections I dont see elsewhere. Veggies are always fresh and nice when I get them (dont appear to be from out of a can) and I love the baby bok choy when they have it available. Service is great and almost everybody there remembers me and my usual orders even if I havent come in months. They are always friendly and service is fast.

The servers are friendly and helpful 95% of the time. They work as a team, not as individuals trying to get a big tip. Pleasant experiences. Food is generally very good and authentic Cantonese, although quantities have been shrinking. 90% of dishes stand up to the test of time, except occasionally, the chef flops, e.g. too salty, or main ingredients are not up to standards. Their Dim Sum lunch is the best in the Detroit area. Enjoy!

Since moving to Michigan from San Francisco, Ive had a hard time finding quality dim sum. Shangri-la is the closest place Ive found to be traditional--they employ the usual carts to deliver various steamed buns, baked goods, veggies, and other Chinese dishes directly to your table. Youll face a long wait on the weekends, which I why I prefer to sneak away here for a long lunch break during the week.

I agree with some of these reviews. Its a little pricey for decent food that you can get at any other Chinese restaurant. And I had to argue with the waitress because they didnt add up our bill correctly - maybe it was intentional, maybe not, but it would definitely help if they had a system that would calculate everything more accurately. Wouldnt come back here ever again and wouldnt recommend it.

I waited almost 2 hours for dim sum. It turned out that they lost our order and failed to check up on us during the two hours. We ended up cancelling our order, which is now our second time having to cancel because of forgotten dim sum orders. The lady was rude and inconsiderate of our wait time. The dinner combination seemed like its been sitting out somewhere. It was overall a bad experience

Love going at lunch and pucking hot delicious Dim Sum off the cart. The food is great quality and always fresh. Now, the duck soup is on the menu. If you want to taste an amazing soup, a must get. I dont eat duck, but Im a soup eater, and this is one of the best soups Ive had in my life, no joke. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant, unlike most Chinese restaurants.

Its a shame. Food is alright, but service is embarrassing. Ive brought multiple friends to this restaurant for their food, Ive had more than one occurrence where theyve been chased after to be forced to tip. Hong Hua is down the road, food is better. Service is not embarrassing there as well. If you are okay with being treated like garbage, you can go here

Me and 4 others are there. Food is good, but we were humiliated by getting called out in front of other customers to tip even though we did tip, they said it was a "service charge". My friend was forced to tip a total of 20% and I tipped another 3% over the 15% that I had originally tipped. So disappointed.

Very wonderful and delicious place to eat! The design is very authentic and stylish. Our waitress was very nice and helpful! The duck we had was simply superb! It was all delicious! There was only one flaw, the wait time was a bit longer than expected. Besides that, it was amazingly put together!

Im not even out of the restaurant and I had to write a review. This place is amazing. So fresh and is really good. My parents had duck dinner that could honestly have fed the 5 of us here. The sesame chicken was excellent as well as the potstickers (Chicken). All of the party was pleased.

One or two of the waitresses here is super nice and courteous. However, the angry lady with the really short hair is always rude and falling asleep on the chair. Food is good, even though depending on who you get the service can very frim great to awful (short haired lady).

Maybe it is the traditional chinese-style of food, but i cant stand it... chicken-feet, squid, and shrimp-galore do not constitute a delicious meal in my opinion... reminds me of the by-products that other restaurants throw away. However, the chow-mein was good

The new Farmington Hills location, 12 Mile Road and Middlebelt, is a diaster. The service could not be worse. The food is overpriced, the portions small. Expansion has a price; presently, Shangri-La Farmington Hills is not a very good restaurant.

I ordered orange chicken and it was uncooked and still frozen from inside. Will not recommend!! It is a blizzard out thereand I cant even drive anywhere else. Worst Chinese restaurant in whole Detroit. Theyll do nothing about it either.

Use to be one of the best Dim Sum places in town (could still be due to the lack of competition). Had experience when the durian pie is still frozen in the center. Also offer late night Dim Sum options, which is definitely a plus.

While it cant compete with Chinese restaurants in LA, San Fran, and other Chinatowns its pretty good for Michigan. There arent any decent Chinese restaurants near that area, so it definitely the place to go to if youre nearby
