Had a reuben sandwich, fries and some cider. The good: * Service was friendly and attentive. I was biking and she thought to ask me if I wanted extra water as I was leaving. But even beyond that, very friendly and helpful. * Reuben was outstanding. Meat was thick and good. Overall just well done. There were some parts that were too thick (something Ive never encountered before) and I found those parts too hard to eat. But even so, I really liked it. It aint Zingermans, but it was well above average IMO. The bad: * About half the fries were overcooked. Way overcooked. The claim was that the oil needed changing and the owner wouldnt let them change it due to cost. Ive cooked fries a lot back in the day and I dont buy that--some of the fries had just been overcooked (others were fine, though yeah, the oil needed changing). * The 12oz beer (cider in my case) didnt seem likely to be 12oz. It was quite reasonably priced, so I dont feel I got ripped off too much, but still annoying. Maybe it really is 12oz, but id guess 10. The cider was good. The other: * Food was a bit slower than Id have expected given how empty the place was when I was there. But nothing crazy. * Id appreciate a bike rack. * Prices seemed reasonable. A bit higher than I had expected for some things, lower for others (beer in particular) but other than the issues with the fries and the 12oz drink, I was happy with what I paid for.

This place is awesome. Stopped here when passing through Stockbridge and so glad we did! Just got drinks and crab cakes but we were both highly impressed. The staff is great, its nothing too fancy, good prices and the crab cakes are amazing! Best Ive ever had and Im picky about my crab cakes! Definitely seem to be a place that makes everything from scratch. Apparently they have a Friday night all you can eat fish fry with 3 different types of fish. We live 40 minutes away but would do the drive to go to this comforting bar/restaurant!

Great family style restaurant in Stockbridge. My buddies and I frequent this place on weekends after a nice ride, and they always take good care of us. Only issue weve ever had is the wait for food for a larger party (8). Food came out separate between 4 and 4 of us, but it was all hot and spot on, so no complaints. Havent been there for the opening of the bar, and am looking forward to it. Heavily recommend the 8 oz burger.

Under new organization. Updated dining room and bar areas with a separate banquet/meeting space. The food is great and the staff is friendly! DJ Phatboy Halloween COSTUME party on Sat. October 29, 2016! 8 PM to Midnight. Reminder that Sat. 10/22/16 the restaurant is closed for a family celebration. Congratulations to the Gonzalez family on their daughters Quinceañera.

I had the turkeky reuben for lunch today and it was delicious. Served with fresh chips and a pickle. Cant be beat. Try out the new and improved Backstreet Bar and Family Restaurant!!

Surprisingly great food and great prices! Very unusual for a place off the beaten path, but if you are ever traveling to MSU along 96, give them a try!
