I almost hesitate to write this review as Im afraid it will be difficult to then get in at this restaurant. However, that wouldnt be fair to this renewed Black Walnut. (It is NOT to be confused with the one that was there last summer with the same name which was not good at all.) I can only say that last night was one of the best dinners I have had ever anywhere, even Europe. There was not one misstep in any of our meals and were some fabulous twists on old favorites, such as the chefs take on the old iceberg wedge salad and mushroom bisque... simply wonderful.

The crab cakes were perfect and the drinks were great! Our waitress was fantastic, we enjoyed talking with her. The chef was friendly and welcoming. Great spot. Only disappointment was the scallops, they were not my favorite... sweet and lacked some flavor I was hoping for. My fiancé got the whitefish with Brussels sprouts - that was amazing! Overall great place that I can only see getting more amazing.

1st time at Black Walnut and I highly recommend it to everyone. Try one of the hamburgers. Wonderful taste, high quality meat and bacon. Manager John was outstanding and very attentive to our needs. Off the beaten path on Griffith down an alleyway. Quiet, quaint atmosphere. We will return many times. You will not be sorry.

Misrepresentation of food! Our waiter tried telling us the burgers were Kobe beef even though the menu even says USDA Prime. This greatly irritated us as Ive actually lived in Japan for many years and know the difference.
