Awesome, all away around ! From when you walk in to the warm ambience of choices of a lounge area with booths with low level glass top tables, great for with a group for appitizers and drinks; or you can have the choice of sitting up on high bar stools at the beautiful granite top bar, or for a more intimate feel you have the choice of sitting in the dinning room area with linen white table clothes with bench and chairs. The service was kind and helpful with choices; food was fresh and tasteful with unique flavors. I started off with the warm yummy Miso soup; then the plentiful crispy Ginger Salad! Next the blend of crab and other goodies made up the Jumbo Spider Specialty Roll, and then I had the Smoked Salmon with Avocado, & Cream cheese was superb! Did not have room for dessert, but did get a taste of the Fruit Infusion and wines! The restrooms were clean and neat, its worth the visit to try out the neat faucets! Enjoy!

The sushi was good. Weve been here a few times before and had a very good experience, but our visit last night made us not want to come back. We sat at the bar for dinner. The 2 bartenders acted like they were highly bothered with serving us. First, no olives in our martinis, which were only filled halfway to the top of the glass. After we ordered food, we waited and waited, watching others get their food before us, even thigh they ordered after us. When we asked how much longer, the bartender/server never apologized for the wait, but it was obvious she had forgotten to place the order. She spent most of her time obsessed with washing bar glasses. She never made eye contact with us....never asked if we wanted another drink, even though she took our empty glasses. It was bizarre. The overall vibe was icky and I almost didnt leave a tip.

Ive been working my way through the sushi places in GR, and this is the first one that I would actually consider returning to. I dont know if it is because I am spoiled having from having learned to love sushi in Japan and Hawaii. I cannot say a lot about the service as I ordered take out, but the bartender was happy to help me with my order. I waited at the bar and he gave me water to sip. My order was ready well before I expected. The Roll combo that I had was excellent, good portion and a reasonable price for two rolls with flavorful wasabi, a decent portion of ginger, and a side salad with a tasty ginger dressing. The atmosphere was classy and pleasant. I will recommend it to my friends.

This restaurant could be considered between 2 and 3 stars, depending on which day you choose to go. The sushi is always pretty tasty, but nowhere near as good as places like Mikado, or Sushi Yama. The service, however, is deplorable. The first time I visited this restaurant, my waitress forgot about my table. Seriously! We waited well over 30 minutes for our sushi, and there only 2 other occupied tables in the restaurant. When I confronted our waitress, she admitted that she had forgotten that we were there, and fetched our sushi that had no doubt been sitting for 20+ minutes. Also, their Saki is disgusting. If you are considering a visit to this restaurant, you better hope you get lucky.

Starting with the pros, the sushi was pretty amazing along with the cool atmosphere of the restaurant. The con being the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant of this status. At first interactions were very cordial and helpful. We place our order and wait. the sushi comes out and was great, yet one of our orders is totally missing so that once we realized we werent going to receive it we just wanted to leave still hungry. If we had gotten checked up on more than once maybe we could have avoided the mix up and empty drinks. Despite being a Friday the place was not busy at all. I will probably not go back... or may ask for a different waiter.

This is the best place in Grand Rapids to get sushi! Hands down! I love the wide selection of specialty rolls that they offer. A little bit of everything rolled into one :} My personal favorites are the Playboy Roll and Las Vegas roll. Both have intense bold flavors that are sure to make your mouth water. They also have many other options on thier menu to choose from if you are not a big sushi eater, try the Kari Tacos another one of my favorites, Chicken Tempura the list goes on and on for the great variety of food that they have to offer! Make it a priority to try this place, I promise you wont be disapointed.

Best sushi in Grand Rapids, but worst service ever!! Ive been in the industry for six years now and to see such a wonderful place like Ju have such terrible service is beyond me. My server Kaytln actually argued with me about my bill. She had charged me twice for a salmon roll, and I had only asked for one and also only received one. She stood in front of my friends and I and argued that she had rung in two so I must have eaten two, therefore I needed to pay for it. You never argue with a guest. End of story. After the service ive received the last three times I know I will no longer be returning to Ju.

The service is always great. The place is super clean. Youre gonna pull up and be like, "wait this place is in a strip mall?" And the answer? "Yeah, all the best Asian food is in strip malls!" The food cannot be beat. If you like Japanese food; sushi, sake, etc. then you truly must visit this place. The playboy roll is incredible. The crab Rangoon is outstanding, and the sake options are numerous. There is American style seating or traditional, although Id encourage you to sit up at the bar where you can see the sushi masters at work. Go. Just go. Youll be very pleased that you have.

Im biased because I really love sushi, but we went here with a group of five and everyone loved their food. We had one non-sushi lover and there were plenty of yummy options for her. Our server was a great help in picking out fun sushi options. We ordered several appetizers including the tacos and the crab pizza, which were fantastic. Each sushi roll was delicious, the sake was varied and fun, and I got free ice cream because it was my birthday (or a sake bomb but I passed as I was driving)

Amazing service coupled with several levels of ambiance provide for a perfect environment to enjoy some of the best sushi in the city. Sit at the bar to enjoy watching some of the best professionals around sling craft cocktails and a la carte sushi, or relax in either the lounge or dining area. This place has something to offer almost anyone, so please make your way out to the far east side and find these hardworking people doing something truly great.

The search for the best sushi place is hard. Ju Sushi & Lounge is s good step in the right direction. Its still not the best place in Michigan, and certainly cannot compete with coastal cities and Japan itself. Yet putting that all to the side the fish is pretty fresh, meaning its fresh but could be fresher, and the rice is the right texture and taste. Sushi is an experience and a art, they unfortunately dont have both of those. Just the art.
