on 07/10/09 my girlfriend and I went here in search of something new and different from the menu found at Inn Season Cafe. Om seemed logical, as the vegetarian options were abundant, and the location was near us. This is my worst restaurant experience in memory, I know Ive had worse, but this is the worst that I can actually remember as of right now. The decor of the place reminds me of something begging to be a small trendy hot spot in NYC or Chicago, yet the floor plan is ridiculously stupid. As we walked in, the only open seating was a shared bench near the door that a woman placing a takeout order was sitting in. She asked if we were dining in, and then happily gave up her seat at our response. This was the best service in the restaurant, and she didnt even work there. We were sat next to a woman(there was only one bench at the table near the door) who, within minutes of us being there, moved to the opposite bench at her table - sitting directly next to a refrigerator door that was constantly slamming because the staff could care less if they were basically slamming a door in a womans face. We received no actual greeting from anyone that worked there, no menus, no water, no service for 10 minutes. Nothing. It was like we were sitting there, nonexistent to the rest of the universe for those ten minutes. Well, except for that woman who moved sides. She mentioned to the waitress in a very odd demeanor that she could no longer sit at that table, and would like the rest of her meal to go, though her seat (sharing the same side of the bench as us) was fine. We proceeded to go to the Fly Trap, which is right down the street, gave us excellent service, was featured on Diners Drive ins and Dives, and had a great selection of vegetarian items. We will probably never even bother trying Om Cafe again, as there are too many other GOOD restaurants that actually provide SERVICE to their customers in the area. I hope someone from Om reads this, because their menu looked ok, from what I saw online. Its the service and seating arrangements that suck. Why would you put items used by staff separate from each other in the dining room? Group them together, so they can be in a corner and further away from customers. A refrigerator, and table with silverware and essentials, and a register counter - all in separate spots? Makes no sense. Youre just annoying more customers, and your servers as they have to go on multiple treks through tables to get to everything. Worst place I have been in a while. We ended up leaving, without ever being greeted or having any service of any sort.

Was super hungry and excited to try out this place. Entered the restaurant and admired the décor (very hipster). Saw a man eat a delicious looking stir fry and my mouth was salivating with excitement I knew what I wanted that immediately. Once I got my vegan stir fry I quickly dug into my meal. Smelt great looked great but boy was it terrible. For a vegan dish that was 13$ it tasted like someone poured a bucket of soy sauce over my food. No flavor just rotten soy sauce flavor. Why does this place get good reviews I dont understand. The service wasnt great either. My girlfriend got the vegan Mac n cheese and it was the furthest thing from Mac n cheese. Had a very weird curry flavor loaded with cilantro (nasty). But the lime raspberry cupcakes were amazing. Overall dont go for the vegan food its just bad.

Ive long loved Om Cafe despite changes in ownership. They offer a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan entrees, salads, desserts and beverages. My favorite is the Greek salad with tofu with fresh, homemade Green Goddess dressing. If youre transitioning to a plant-based diet, its a nice place to explore how dishes taste. Always superbly fresh, wholesome and tasty. If youre hankering for tasty, healthy soul food, the special on Fridays is BBQ seitan or tofu accompanied by collard greens, yams and corned bread. Youll enjoy this place even if your vegan friend drags you along. Try the Nori rolls. Smashing! The light, airy atmosphere complements the food and the staff is friendly and courteous. Youll leave here feeling good in every way. Promise.

This was my first time here and I was completely blown away by the powerful flavorful punch this place delivered! Myself being newly Vegan, I am still constantly surprised at how filling and tasty these dishes are proving to be. Brussel sprout appetizer was amazeballs. Had the stir fry with udon noodles and sauteed tofu, epic! Carrot cake disappeared within moments. So good. If you want some delicious food, hit this place up pronto, your belly and well being will thank you.

I havent been here for a very long time, why because the New Owner, manager, didnt handle my disapproval of my tofu dish that was smothered with Dijon mustard it was horrible. I went back to the Om Cafe, and complained, the manager, just shrugged. I left the restaurant havent been back since. On a positive note the waitress who took my order was very friendly, Im sure she doesnt work there anymore.

The staff is awesome and the food is very flavorful. This is hands down my favorite vegan restaurant. I had the appetizers (the best brussel sprouts ever! And I had some type of sushi vegan roll really nice), I had a few different stir-fry and there house salad, really good, and I had a lavander cookie very good. And the best cake ever some type of blueberry cake the best

Om Cafe is truly a gem in Ferndale! Since the new ownership, the place is well run and consistent. Ive never had a bad meal here. As a transitioning vegan from vegetarian, Om has a wide variety of vegan options from breakfast and lunch, to dinner and desserts that would appeal to anyone! Im grateful that we have them in town!!

Really bad service, waiting 20 minutes to get waited on. Not the first time. 3 waitress standing around serving water while tables are not waited on. Over hour to get food although we watched others order and eat. Disappointed. Food is ok, not great. Certainly not worth the poor service.

Om does many things very well. They have excellent vegan corn chowder soup and I couldnt believe it (since Ive had sushi at many Japanese restaurants and dedicated sushi bars), but theyre brown rice sushi was the best sushi Ive ever had. Clearly the chef knows what he/she is doing.

Very polite staff. I go here specifically for my favorite vegan dish, the loaded mac and cheese. Ive been coming here for years, and although Ive been to every vegan restaurant that metro detroit has to offer, this place always wins hands down.

The service here is awful, but the food is good. The waitress will walk by 5 times before asking if you need anything. Always a wait, for some reason, even if there are empty tables. A little overpriced for the experience.
