Well today is my sons bday. I ordered my sons cake and paid in full 4-7-15. Well I go pick up the cake the person serving me never brought the cake all the way up to me. Im not thinking its going to be messed up because its a bakery and this is what they do. So I get the cake home and my design was cricket and the border. I had to take the cake back to be fixed and the pic is still cricket. I am so unpleased with this bakery. I have never been treated so badly by a business before in my life. I wasted my time money ruined my sons day messing with this bakery. Not bashing just not professional at all.

FDA warning letter: Mexicantown Bakery in Detroit, MI, was told March 18 2015 that an inspection of its bakery facility from Oct. 24-Nov. 4, 2014, revealed “serious violations” of Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations. FDA’s letter stated that inspectors observed that bakery employees were not adequately washing their hands, there were signs of rodent and insect activity inside the facility, and there were undeclared allergens and artificial colors in the company’s products despite several related recalls.

My brother, who is visiting from Arizona and eats Mexican food and desserts quite a bit loved the tres leches cake here and as did I! It was really good! Just like the ones I used to get at the Cuban shops when I used to live in Florida! People talk about the prices on here but honestly theyre pretty fair with the prices. Same as any other bakery. Maybe theyre from back home and think everything should be cheap like in Mexico lol

Rating the Brownies, hostess-style cupcake and chocolate mouse cake: Not good. Frosting gives you that "tickle" in the back of your throat like other low-end bakeries in the area. Chocolate color is there, but its missing deep chocolate flavor. So everything looks good and is decorative but has little flavor and textures are not appetizing in the least. Wont be back!

This is a one fine establishment! The Tres Leches Cake is so deluctible. The staff are very affable and exhibit the best decorum! Have always come here for birthday and anniversary cakes. Refuse to go anywhere else. Great hours too. What bakery stays open until 9:00pm?? Eliva has beautiful penmanship and can fit even the longest statements on your cake! :D

Very positive and tasteful experience. Local neighborhood feel. Wonderful location with view of Clark Park, if you were having a cup of coffee or tea with your special treat. Bakery carries a nice variety of mexican oriented pastries along with a line american based products. Staff was very warm and attentive. Great way to start your day!

My wife and I ordered a cake for our sons 1st birthday, and specifically told the bakery we wanted one whole side of the cake chocolate, and the other side vanilla. When we got the cake home, it wasnt what we ordered. They had layered the chocolate and vanilla. So we paid almost $70 for a cake that wasnt done right.

The quality has gone down over the years. There is a smaller variety of baked goods and the prices of those we purchased are high. We also ordered a large cafe americano which was nothing more than hot water with a drop of coffee. This used to be my go to bakery. I guess Ill have to find a new one.

Baked goods were okay. Cookies and muffins hard as a rock (crunchy), as opposed to soft. Some of the "desserts" were quite tasteless = ( Ive had much better,. Love Astoria Bakery in Greektown! more expensive but then again, you GET what you PAY for!! = o

My friend and I visit this spot on a regular basis. Everyone is nice, and the treats are amazing. My favorite has to be the brownie mouse/flower. The cheesecakes are to die for, and to honestly say, I dont think there is anything in there that wasnt good.

The BEST selection of homemade Mexican baked goods, 6 stars. You can order personalized cakes too! My family LOVES the variety of cookies and breads. The only wish I have is another store, Detroit is a bit of a drive for us.
