I went to Fridas the other day for lunch, I have been there many times since theyve opened. The food is not bad, Ive had worse! But its not the best Ive had, either. The prices are not as cheap as what some of the other reviews have said they are. In fact Fridas prices are a little higher in cost than Mexican Fiesta -(Ive compared both). Anyhow after sitting down for lunch, there was only a table of 4 and a table of 2, already eating. The waitress took a long time to come over, when she finally did walk past me she didnt say anything, she just put chips on the table and kept walking to greet what seemed to be her friend walking in with a baby. OK, so after a little while longer she finally comes back to take my order. I told her I would like a combination, and could I have a flour taco shell instead of corn? Right away she starts shaking her head no, even before I finish asking. I told her that I have been here before and ordered it that way and theres never been a problem! She told me in a sassy rude manner " well Im the owner, and I have not seen you here, and no one should have let you change the combination" as if who ever let me change the taco shell is going to be in trouble! Then she went on to say "why do you just order a different combination" pointing at my menu. The other combo didnt have any of the items that I wanted, except for a taco in a flour shell. I said that my original choice is the combo that I would like, it has the items that I prefer- please! She didnt answer me and took my menu and walked away with a very mean stone face. After a long wait, and listening to this owner/waitress talking extremely loud to her friend in Mexican language. I hear the bell at the cooking window ring and it must be my dinner because theres no one else there not eating except for me. Well she still continues talking to her friend some more and finally goes and brings my lunch to me approximately 4 minutes later. She puts it down on the table in front off me, I tell her thank you and she doesnt say anything and walks away. All through my dinner she did not come back over to ask me if I need anything or even how is the food. Nothing! After she sees I am finished, again she is making me wait for my check, now mind you I am on my lunch break. I finally get my check, pay for my lunch and leave. To be quite frank, that is no way for the owner a restaurant to treat her customers. Shame on her! She should never tell customers thats shes the owner especially in negative way. Furthermore why not try to please her customers, I wasnt trying to change the entire menu, it was a simple little change. I could, and will go to the Mexican Fiesta, where Ill pay less and not have a problem about changing a taco shell, and also get excellent food and service. 2 thumbs down for the female "OWNER/WAITRESS" at Fridas. What are you a owner of if you have no customers? Because she would rather treat them mean, instead of pleasing them! She has a lot to learn about owning and running a restaurant! She is inexperienced, or just plain rude with a mean- stone face!

The other reviews are odd, in that theyre either outdated or extremely expectorant. Taco Bell better than authentic? These are the people who likely feel that confusing their taste buds means it "tastes good". I digress. Our service was faster than we could ask for —served chips and sauce promptly after making our order, which made waiting for our food to be ready much more bearable, and we were even given refills before we could even ask! Chimichangas came fresh and perfectly between tender and crunchy. Though it was my first time having them, the flavor instantly overtook the taste of the deep-fried shell. The fajita combo felt like a piece of heaven with every bite. Needless to say, I ate somewhat messily from being so absorbed with the sensations that are otherwise lacking in typical Mediterranean and American foods. In fact, my buddy and I were unable to finish because of how full and satisfied we were! Best food coma Ive had in years.

I walked in the twilight zone when I read these great reviews. obviously these people never tasted good Mexican food. and the guy from Texas!!! omg were you living under a rock in Texas??? Frida was awful absolutely no flavor and more than that the wrong spices with the wrong way of cooking!. how can they mess up Mexican rice and beans???I ordered the fajita combination( meat, chicken, shrimp) I had 2 small wraps of that and left all the rest. the sour cream looked liked its been sitting out for a while and the guacamole had no flavor. the service was good and the waitress was a nice young girl(obviously not the owner)! Fridas food tasted like someone is faking it back in that kitchen but failing miserably at it! Someone"s review mentioned that they have halal meats, I guess this place banked on only that!

Clearly other 1 star reviewers including people named after overrated car companies have never had good mexican food and are confused at the greatness that was presented to them. This is by far my new favorite mexican restaurant. When it comes to mexican cuisine my girlfriend and I have been all over the metro Detroit area doing a bit of a food tour and we can honestly say that the food here knocked our socks off! The prices were very comparable and they do it with great tasting food and excellent style. The seemingly minute details added up to a blast of a wide variety of well balanced flavors and textures. A 35 minute drive will not deter me from driving here again!

Worst restaurant & service ever!! Today was my first time trying this place and I left furious. I ordered a quesadilla and I honestly couldnt eat it, tasted nothing like quesadillas Ive had in the past. So I kindly ask if I can change my place and I explained that its my first time coming here, she does. I get the new plate, which is a tilapia dish and the fish is RAW. I had tasted that dish from the person with me and it wasnt like that. So I ask for my bill, she hands me it without saying a word, without even asking whats wrong. I paid & left. Worst customer service, never coming here again!!!

The service was awful, there was hair in the food, and the waitress was extremely rude. The waitress demanded that we pay for food that we had not touched (because of the hair) and when we refused she stated "Never come back". Im glad we left when we did seeing as how others have also complained about this establishment taking additional tips off of their credit cards. I strongly recommend that you all take the advice of my waitress and "never come back".

My friend and I went into Frida and the service was horrible. The food was bad and got sick from eating there. Paid with a credit card for the bill. Left cash for the tip but came to find out that they were greedy and filled in a tip on my credit card receipt as well. I would not recommend this place to anybody and if I could give them a zero I would. I will tell everybody I know about my experience and Ill never go back.
