Unfortunately we typed up a long and detailed review but it was deleted. Was seated for over 15 minutes before someone came to get us drinks (there were empty water glasses on our table and a tea pot with no tea glasses). It would have been longer had I not finally be able to flag someone down. When I flagged someone down our waters were quickly filled (no tea mugs were ever brought) and our appetizer and meal orders were promptly taken...but that is as good as it got. After ordering we waited over 20 minutes to get our simple appetizers. After we finished our appetizers we waited over 50 minutes for our meals. At no time during our wait did any one ask if they could get us anything else and at no point in time did anyone apologize that the food was taking so long or that no one had helped us when we were initially seated. In fact it appeared that the staff was avoiding our table and avoiding making eye contact with our table. If you value your time, and think that you should have nice and non-inept staff...do not come here...

We tried Gourmet Garden for the 1st time with a carry out of Almond Chicken, and Sweet and Sour Pork. We were disappointed in both. The pork had an aftertaste and the chicken was greasy. Not sure what Frying oil they are using to fry with, suggest a better oil or changing it more often so as to limit taste transfer. There was no egg roll included and i called them to let them know. They offered to give me a credit and make it right. To top it off, they should check the dating of their Fortune cookies because they were stale. We have always purchased our Chinese carry out from New China King in howell and thought we would try a Chinese establishment closer. I hope this was a fluke as they were very nice and i do believe they want to offer the best for their customers, they just need to stay on top of what is coming out of the Kitchen....

We have been a weekly customer since around 2000 and Meis (the owner) menu and service never seem to diminish. Mei is very gracious and her wait staff are all extremely courteous. The food has always been top notch. Recently she showed me thank-you cards from patrons who attended a company party there and their comments of appreciation were "over the top". Knowing of the restaurants food and service first hand, I was impressed but not really surprised. After reading their comments and seeing the photos they sent, I just wished that I had been invited to the party. ;)) JimB

Been going here now and again for three years now. The staff is so friendly and have always catered to my making my meal the way I like it. The tea is hands down the best tea I have tasted ever. Ive had many of the dishes and only once was it less than expected. By being more specific in how I wanted it cooked, that took care of the issue. Its very pleasant, clean and never so crowded that you cant hear yourself talk. Great for food allergies as well.

My family and I have been going to Gourmet Garden for years. We receive excellent service every time we go there. The food is outstanding. Whether its take-out or dining in, weve NEVER had a bad experience in all the years weve been going there. The wait staff are friendly and treat their customers like family. I wont go to any other Chinese restaurant in town because I know the food and service wont compare to Gourmet Garden.

I ordered fried rice here today and the food was bad , But they did call me back after I file a complaint and they were very sincere in trying to make my experience better. I do understand my order was placed really late and it could have made an impact on the quality of the food. Im overall a happy customer because they truly cared about my frustration and really want to do whatever they can to make it better for me.

Ordered take out and the food was in the wrong boxes so everything that was funny was in a soaked cardboard box and the fried food was in plastic and soaked from condensation on our 5 minute drive home. Sweet and sour chicken was over done.and the Mongolian chicken was flavorless. I dont think I would come back after spending 30 bucks for unreasonable food.

Walked in for carry out, they whipped it up in a few minutes and the Asian lady at the register was very nice. The chicken lo mein was fair, plenty of chicken but just not quite the right flavor, it felt bland. Id go back, but only to order something else. Carry-out is a must, a dine-in experience would clearly be lackluster and drab.

The meal started off nice. "Chips" were yummy and warm. Tea was good. Egg roll was not bad. Both entrees were not good, though. They were overpowered with a burnt pan taste. They didnt look burned, but definitely not edible. The Orange chicken was BRIGHT orange, looking very concerning. Will not be going back. Ever.

General Tso chicken was literally white, the rice was lukewarm and slimy. Shrimp fried rice: Shrimp was barely even pink and rice was also slimy. It smelled like raw fish and appeared to be microwaved. Hands down worst Chinese place to date. Tried it twice, never again.

This is the worst food I have ever eaten. My orange chicken tasted like dog food. Seriously I couldnt eat a single thing, my fortune cookie was stale. My delivery took an hour and 20 minutes. I will never eat here again! Absolutely disgusting! Sad excuse for food.

Very nice people that own this business. This is the best Chinese Restaurant in town - needless to say - I would love to see some more competition... Could be better around here - Otherwise, this is the best that you can get in Brighton....

I love eating at Gourmet Garden. I know everything is fresh made in house, not pre made its fresh. They are very polite and complimentary, treat you like family I wouldnt choose any other place. Keep making your great food.
