First off I have been a chef for over 20 years and never encountered a scam quite like this before this is why Im writing this. There are 2 problems with this place, 1st my wife tryed to order a veggie omelet without onions the "waitress" said everything was pre done so if she wanted no onions she would have to build her own which costs $1 each item she ordered the turkey sausage and then just added broccoli. Never in my experience as a chef in any of michigan restaurants have I heard of this (obvious scam). Secondly, I ordered corned beef hash with Lightly basted eggs they were prepared well so I sent them back and they came back the same way so I denied them and she almost did not remove them from the bill I sent the toast back with the eggs and she tryed to leave the bill prior to me sending the toast back and then she grabbed back the bill. I have never seen this in all of my years as a chef. Becareful with restaurants you are able to get exactly what you want the way you want it within reason. This place obviously has a scam going as far as the front of the house. As far as the back of the back stop hiring inexperienced cooks of the street and start getting more experienced young chefs from the cooking schools in the area and that are not deaf. If you know whats good for you (patrons) I would stay away from this place or they will scam your hard earned money.

Food was so-so, service was poor, and the management was awful. We had a horrible dining experience, especially when you consider the inflated prices... my coffee mug had a brown film inside that wiped off with my finger - when I told the manager, Mike Sachs, he stared blankly and asked "so what do you want, a new mug?". No apology from the manager and not a word from the waitress when she came back with my new mug. Food took 25 minutes when they were not busy and we were only told it takes 20-22 minutes to cook an omelette after we asked what was taking so long. Waitress never checked to see how our food was (it was mediocre at best) and never came to refill my $1.80 mug of coffee. My sons spoon had a huge, dried, black chunk of something on the handle (we never told anyone because they never came to ask about anything) and when I asked for "a few extra napkins" I was given only one. Finally, when we got the bill we found that the waitress had taken it upon herself to assume the milk I ordered for my two year old son should be a large!!

Be prepared to wait to park if you go on a busy day at a busy time. Google helpfully provides information about what time and date they are most frequented, so check and plan accordingly. Also, menu is very inflexible to those who want to sample a bit of everything. It does tend to add up if you order like me, but if you go in and you know what you want, then to me, the prices are very fair; just a dollar or two extra compared to the same dish at, say, IHOP. If possible, Id like to communicate with the owners to introduce half orders. Otherwise, I got a really good experience- I went for food and got exactly what I came for. I got nice large portions, freshly made and served with heaping helpings of condiments which was actually surprising. The server was helpful and patient with me, as she figured it was our first time ordering. Overall, aside from the two minor mentions about parking, and offerings for portion size, my experience was very rewarding and this is definitely somewhere I intend to visit again. Lovely place

The Original Pancake House is the best breakfast on earth. The Apple Pancake is the best breakfast dish ever, the silver dollar pancakes are a taste sensation despite being just a mundane pancake. They have the best sausages I have ever tasted and the Cherry Kijafa is amazing as well. The other great part is their consistency across restaurants. I have eaten at 4 Original Pancake Houses and they have all been incredible. The only downside to the Original Pancake House is that they are so incredible, there is frequently a line to get in. At my most recent visit, they had actually set up childrens toys, coffee and milk outside the door for waiting customers.

I have eaten at this and the GP location for years, usually I have a good experience. Unfortunately my last visit was not so pleasant. There was a thread or string in my food, the server and staff seemed to make a joke about it, laughing that they saved it for special customers! Also blaming it on a kitchen towel, I felt like they shrugged the matter off. They did replace my meal, but the damage was done and I couldnt eat it, the string really grossed me out and put me off. I feel that the staff should have reimbursed me. I wont be returning. I understand that things happen, but I also feel the inexperience and lax behavior from the staff is a cop out.

Really Good Breakfast, really big and filling. We had the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and the Santa Fe omelette (spicy). Everything was completely enjoyable. We also tried the potato pancakes, very different and good. One other bad thing was the long wait to get into the establishment. We went around 12-1 so we had to wait at least 20 minutes to get into the place and another 20 minutes to wait for the potato pancakes. If we went back it would be at a time when there are less people and to try some of their treats - which came highly recommended.

Original Pancake House always has a line out the door for good reason! Baked omelettes, fruit topped crepes, smoked thick sliced bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice, pancake batter made with real cream, real butter, superb coffee, & honestly too many great things to list here. They absolutely serve the best breakfast Ive ever had! First time there we were so impressed by the fresh, real ingredients and excellent service that it is a regular stop when we are in the area. Make sure you stop and try it, but beware it might spoil your taste buds.

Best pancakes EVER!!! Theyre light, fluffy, and melt in your mouth. And the syrup is perfectly warmed up so youre never eating cold pancakes! They always say, if you see a line outside the door for a restaurant, go there. Thats how this place is, so be prepared to wait at least 30-45 mins for breakfast. hint: if you go around 3pm on a weekend, you wont have to wait long at all. Im ruined for pancakes from anywhere else!

The food was excellent but over pricey. Seven dollars for a waffle, really? Also the manager (not knowing he was the manager at the time) bumped our table with his ass touching my bacon in the process. So when we asked for the manager guess who came to the table. He replaced the meal but the fact I had to ask to speak to the manager (which was him) just seems unprofessional.

My favourite breakfast when visiting Detroit from the UK. i used to love Detroit breakfast house at merchants row. Original Pancake house does excellent pancakes (cooked lightly as requested) and french toast. fresh squeezed Orange juice is lovely (add ice). good portions value for money. Ive eaten at their Bay Harbor location and that was lovely too.
