Grizzly Peak is located just off of Main Street in a big corner building. We parked across the street in a public lot and walked over to the brewery. When we walked in, we found the hostess station. A waiter saw us standing there and came over to seat us. Here was my big complaint about the meal. I probably should have asked to be seated in the bar so I could watch the football game, but I didn’t. Outside of the bar, there was one other couple eating and one large group. The dining rooms at Grizzly Peak are huge and there are several options. They seated both us and the other couple right next to the large group in a cramped dining room near the back of the space. Come on now. Why would you seat a couple next to a group in an empty restaurant. We just wanted to enjoy a nice dinner, but the group wanted to catch up and you know how people get when they haven’t seen each other in a while. Grandpa at one end of the table is yelling to his grandson at the other end of the table. Doesn’t make a good dining experience for anyone around them and we were right next to the table. Our waiter came back with drinks and we were ready to order. This month’s special is a few award winning mac ‘n cheese dishes. They all looked really good, but I was in the mood for a burger. I got the Grizz burger with bleu cheese. The waiter asked if I wanted fries, but I passed for an extra $1.50. The burger came with just a burger. They threw a few pickles on the plate and called that a side, but for $8.20, I felt a little cheated. The burger is a 1/2 lb of aged sirloin served on an onion roll. I couldn’t taste a difference. It tasted like a burger to me. I ordered it medium. It came medium rare. That doesn’t bother me and I ate, but most people would have freaked out at the blood on the plate. I actually prefer burgers medium rare even though I know I shouldn’t. The burger was good, but not very filling. It really needed some kind of side. I don’t care if it was just chips. Eight bucks was too much for the burger. J got the Cherry Chicken Salad. She got a huge grilled chicken breast on top of a fresh greens, toasted pecans, Maytag bleu cheese, and dried cherries. The dressing was a tart cherry vinaigrette. She loved her salad. She said the greens were so fresh they still tasted like weeds which apparently is a compliment. There was too much chicken for her and I got a little bit of that. She said the salad and dressing were delicious. Our bill was $25 and like I said, I don’t think I got enough food for the price. J, on the hand, loved her meal and the salad was more than enough for her. Desserts looked good, but she was full and I didn’t need chocolate. On the way out, we stopped in the bar area to check out the scores from the football games. Grizzly Peak is actually a really good space. The whole interior is dark, distressed woods. It has sort of an outdoorsy feel to it. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the brick oven. The kitchen is kind of set up in the middle of the restaurant and it’s entirely open. You can see the flames shooting from the back of the oven. I probably should have tried one of the pizzas. I love brick oven pizza. There are two bars at Grizzly Peak with flat screens plastered all over the place. Besides the usual pub tables, the bar area had drink bars where you can stand and socialize, but still have a place to set your beer down. Grizzly Peak is a really cool bar. The seating arrangements left a bad taste in my mouth and the value of my meal was defiantly not a good one. J would have a totally different opinion on the value of her meal. I think she really liked it and didn’t leave hungry. We had a mixed experience at Grizzly Peak. Maybe I was just tired and it wasn’t as bad as I thought, but the choice of seating set the tone for the whole meal for me. Too bad. I really wanted to love the place. I love brew pubs and atmosphere wise, this was one of the best. The meal just didn’t match.

1) Street parking available or at the lot across the street. 2) Came here for a friends birthday and we had a large group. The the maitre d was very good at organizing the reservation and ensuring that we had everything set. They did ask for my credit card information to hold the reservation. Though at the restaurant, the reservation was for 630pm but we couldnt be seated then as they were still setting up for us. We were even allowed to bring the cake (though we were not informed that it will charge $1 per person for a cake-cutting fee). We had a group of about 18 people and we werent told that the two cables would not be together. So we were tucked away into a corner of the restaurant it was not one long table so is hard for the birthday boy to jump from one table to the next to ensure all his friends were taken care of. I felt that this was something that they should have brought up to us because this was a concern once we got there. 3) Ordering food was quick and straightforward, despite the size of our group. One server was more friendly and happy than the other. 4) Friends order beer here, which is GPs own brew. 5) Food came out slowly and inconsistently. Fried cheese curds appetizer was really good. I ordered the chicken bruscetta pizza which had a thicker crust than I wouldve liked. The crust actually tasted like naan. Some friends said that the chips were chewy, but overall I think everyone liked their meals. 6) Service was inconsistent as one server was better than the other. Nice, clean place. Quite loud and busy, but it was a Saturday evening, and good central location. We were told that reservations, even of groups as large as ours, only have the table for 2 hours. 7) Overall, fine experience. Our friend had a good evening celebrating his birthday so that was nice.

Just went to Grizzly Peak tonight for dinner with a friend from out of town, and was incredibly disappointed. While the food is always good, the service is very unpleasent. After we put our names down for a table, we proceeded to the bar to grab a few drinks to wait for our table. With open booths and tables in the bar area, we decided to sit town. A server passed by and I kindly asked her if it was ok if we sat down and waited for our table to be called, or if she would rather save that for her customers. (being in the restaurant business myself, I understand the inconvenience of ordering from the bar, but taking up a servers section, but because the bar was not full, I asked) She rolled her eyes and acted as if we just ruined her whole night., She then went up to the hostess stand to tell them to get us a table fast so that we would no longer be "in her way." We were taken to the dining area, where our server didnt even ask us if we wanted anything else to drink. She merely pointed to the specials and said (and I quote) " if you dont know our specials, they are right here" as she rudely brushed the menu with her hand, and walked away. about 10 minutes later, she came back and said, (and I quote again) " you guys dont want, like, any bread or anything do you?" acting as if it would be a hassle to bring us a basket of bread...like all the other tables around us had. She didnt talke our empty glasses and plates off the table, and had a very condescending demeanor when she dropped off the check. If i were the manager at this restaurant i would definately do a server evaluation, and clean house. Nobody wants to be at work on a friday night, but to take it out on your customers is out of line. If you dont enjoy customer interactions, work in the kitchen.
