Im not going to deny people that they had bad experiences and service, after all it only takes a few bad employees to ruin a restaurant, but some of these past reviewers are retarded. One person complaining there was enough "rare release" beers, like what do you, bourbon barreled abraxis, 3Fs Dark Lord, cigar city beers, Kbs and Cbs? Like thats rare in my opinion and not too many places are going to readily have that on tap.. at least not for more than a few hrs. So having said that hopcat has far more rare stuff than what I can regularly get access too. Another complaining about 10 oz pours.. it says right on the menu that its a 10 oz pour! Another complaining that he tried 3 rye beers, but they didnt have the "rye beer flavor" that he loved? Lol are you kidding me!? How the hell is the hopcats fault seriously, moron! I could see if they had a dirty glass or dirty tap line, but youre complaining that the beers that some brewers made dont taste they way you wanted them to, perhaps you should take it up with the brewers!? Maybe your old decrepit ass taste buds are shot. Anyways in my opinion, there burgers are phenomenal, I tell them medium/medium-rare, and they come out that way with a beautiful seared char on them. the crack fries, meh, nothing special, the place is big and beautiful. I sit at the bar and the bartenders seem to be more than knowledgeable. I ask for recommendations, and stay away from the local 30, only caz Ive had them all a million times. They had an excellent sour selection last time I was there.

I was really disappointed. The service was very slow despite it not being that busy in the restaurant (9:20pm on Monday). I waited almost 15 minutes for my beer after ordering it--large selection, although the flavors felt a little off, which sometimes happens with these places with lots of taps and maybe dont sell quite enough beer. I waited 18 minutes for a glass of water, and the cheddar ale soup that was supposed to come "right away" according to the server was 29 minutes later, served with dinner, lukewarm, and not tasty. The "10 best fries in America" were also served lukewarm, and thus, didnt taste that good; they compared unfavorably to some fries I had earlier in the day from Wendys that were hot and reasonably seasoned. Maybe theyre better when fresh, but they were not fresh. The burger itself, the "paddy melt" (advertised as sort of a cross between a patty melt and a reuben) was pretty good, and hot, although the server didnt ask how I wanted it and it came a default medium-well. It then took six minutes for them to bring the check. The burger was good enough that thats why theyre getting two stars instead of one, but overall, this was one of the least good dining experiences Ive had in some time.

1st experience -I went to this place on Saturday Night and sat at the bar, we order 2 drinks and 1 order of "Crack Fries". The drinks took about 2 mins which was great. We wait about 20 minutes for "Crack Fries" it never came, so we asked about it. Bartender said it should be on its way. 10 minutes still no fires. We cash out they didnt charge us for the fries, but still terrible service. 2nd experience - went on a Sunday night aroun 7pm, we decide to sit at a table, same order 2 drinks and some crack fries.. crack fries came before the drinks - took about 4 minutes for everything to hit the table. Service was great and way better. However this places have way to many Cons: Crack fries = under portion, like really lol it cost like 8 dollars now its 4.25 Beer = under portion, 10oz glass? So, if youre looking for a place to have some decent portion food and some good cheaper beer, I would go to Bar Louie, Ashley, ABC.

Okay, so obviously the beer selection is great and theyre always getting in new, interesting things. The food is pretty good too (try the Sloppy Joe crack fries, seriously, do it). However, it is the staff that are particularly fantastic -- really knowledgeable, passionate, friendly, and always take the time to give great beer and food recommendations. Also, two of the staff, Brandon and Ben, once totally saved me/weeks of work. I had foolishly left behind a really important pack of notes and came back to look for them hours later, panicked. Brandon was off duty but recognized me and came over to let me know that he and Ben had saved my papers because they looked important. That kind of thoughtfulness about a stack of scribbled on papers is uncommon and completely beyond what one could reasonably expect but so so very appreciated. I was already a loyal HopCat customer before that, but certainly am even more so now.

My friends and I went here last night as part of a birthday bar crawl. This was our last stop of the night. I have been here several times since the grand opening and i have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this establishment. The service is always relatively fast and always friendly. They have the largest beer selection in the area. It is in one of the better locations in downtown. The artwork on the wall is pretty cool as well. One of the guys we were with ordered the Freedom Juice which is Pabst Blue Ribbon, it is cool to see a bar with humor. In the past i have ordered many different kinds of food they offer. The buffalo chicken sandwich, beef and chicken tacos, their famous crack fries in many different forms (poutine, loaded, ranch, etc,.), among other items. All of them, that is right ALL OF THEM were delicious. This place is a must visit. 5 stars always.

What a disappointment. Just after sitting down at our table we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for someone to take our order. When our server arrived his demeanor was clearly indicative of someone who did not want to be there let alone serve our table. He then went back to put our order in and never returned. Having been nearly an hour without service we decided to leave. We notified the manager of our disappointment and all were met with was an insincere apology. He justified the lack of attentiveness with an overly busy night while several table remained open and numerous waitstaff sat in the corner talking amongst themselves. Not sure what they are trying to pull here but not the place to go. We ended up next door at Knights which met us with nothing but smiling waitstaff and a friendly atmosphere.

This place recently opened up and is now my favorite place to get beer. They have a huge selection of any type of beer you can imagine from all over the world. The atmosphere is casual, it can get a bit noisy but thats party of the fun, right? Their fries are to die for - so if you dont want to overeat do not get them but if youre down for some great beers and fries then go for it! Its great for a casual hangout with one person or a group of friends. The service is great and its really easy to get carried away drinking into the night. I would definitely recommend this place! Ps: theres street parking and a parking garage right across.

Stopped in for lunch on a Monday and what a great choice it was. Was in Ann Arbor for an errand and decided to look up "best places to eat in Ann Arbor." HopCat was on the list and sounded familiar for some reason. I was really happy I stopped in. Service was prompt, but then again it wasnt busy at the time. The food, Chipotle-Lime Beer Chicken Tacos, Pulled Pork / Bacon Mac n Cheese, and Crack Fries. I would describe everything, but its not even worth it... that sounds negative, but its the opposite. Everything was so very good. If everything is that good on the menu, I could eat EVERYTHING. It was amazing. I will be back soon.
