If you are looking for absolutely the best authentic Italian food you can find, this is the place to go. If youre looking for a quiet, romantic place to gaze longingly into each others eyes, this is not the place for you. The place is very small, and the kitchen is right there in the dining room, so it is very loud and pretty cramped--but the food is out of this world. They are jam packed by 7:00, so get there early if you dont want to wait. We have decided that this is the ONLY place we will go for Italian food from now on. Any place else would just be a disappointment. About a month ago, they expanded the restaurant to approximately double the size. Its still very small (so you still need to arrive early), but the new room is quieter because its not where the kitchen is. Its still the only Italian place we go to!

We recently moved to Wrentham and based on reviews we wanted to try Café Assisi. After a long busy day and still one more errand to run we stopped by Café Assisi around 8:30pm on a Friday night. Seeing that they were open until 10pm we decided to run our last errand and come back finish our night with dinner. We returned at 9:05pm to find the door locked. We could see people eating inside. We called to find out why the door was locked and we were told “it was a slow night so we decided to close early”. I can see 10-15min early on a slow night but when your hours are posted you do not close an hour early. Change the hours if staying open until 10pm is not profitable…unless it is a family emergency you do not close earlier than what you have posted. Not customer focused…good food or not I won’t try going back.

My husband and I were extremely dissapointed--especially since this place received impressive reviews. The atmosphere and service were fantastic, but that is where the positives ended. The complimentary bread was cold and hard (old), and my chicken was extremely overcooked with a terrible flavor. The server graciously allowed me to order another meal, and I opted for a Mediterranean salad. Basically "Mediterranean " meant two olives on top of a spring salad mix. My husbands veal was also overcooked and "chewy" as was the shrimp that came with the meal. Again, the atmosphere is warm and hospitable, but the food was terrible. We will not be returning.

I love this restaurant. Derek, the owner, head chef and great host is back in charge. Every plate I have ordered there has been excellent. If you dont want to spend a lot of money get their delicious antipasto and a pizza with a couple of glasses of Chianti. You want something a bit more fancy, go for the veal saltimbocca or eggplant parmigiana. The seafood dishes could be straight out of Napoli. There are no bad dishes here. I brought some friends from Boston and they were blown away by the food, the service and the friendly staff. The place is small and gets crowded and is always fun. Cafe Assisi will not disappoint.

Came before the Beyoncé show at Gillette Stadium . We were smart and showed up at one, even though the show didnt start until six or seven. This place was sooooo great!!! We met the owner and he was sweetheart. Overflowing Martinis, GIANT jumbo grilled shrimp on fresh crisp Romain, real shaved Parmesan and homemade rustic croutons with The house Caesar dressing. Definitely try all the homemade desserts . This guy knows what hes doing and he does it well . Promised him Id write a review so I hope you get this ! Beyoncé was flawless .

What a pleasant surprise this place was. If you are shopping at the Wrentham mall, this is a must try. We found it quite by accident when we decided wed like to eat after a long day of shopping and wasnt interested in chains or the food at the Mall - what a gem. The staff were friendly and helpful, ambience nice, service was spot on. The food the half sandwich with soup was terrific - pasta fagioli was exceptional and what a bargain. Try any of the pasta dishes, you wont be disappointed.

I just came back from a FANTASTIC meal there with 3 friends. The food was wonderful, the service very good, and the young, personable owner came over and thanked us profusely for coming. This was truly "food to write home about"! The parking lot (and the interior, too) is small...reservations are probably a MUST for weekend nights! I wish I could share it with a friend who has taken me to great places in Florida.

I have been coming here for years and everything from the staff to the food is always and I mean always great. If you complain about a wait, its because you didnt call ahead and that is your own fault. The staff is amongst the most professional and friendly I have ever come across. There is no reason not to come here more than once a week. The pizza is some of the best around.

Amazing find. After a day at the outlets, finish up with supper here. Come early to get a spot. It was packed, so we ate outside, which worked out very well. I recommend the portabella chicken, it was amazing. My whole family had rave reviews. Great service, great food, you have to try it.

We just moved here and this restaurant has easily become our favorite. The food and the service is amazing. The staff go out of their way to providing a great dining experience and very accommodating for gluten free. I regularly get their gluten free eggplant parm which is the best I have ever had!

Really good food the two times we have been there. Do I wish the wait was shorter? Sure. Do I wish the bar could seat more than 8 people? Sure. I dont care about that stuff. For me its about the food and my wife and I are particular. Here, the food was really good, as was Chris, the waiter.

With any restaurant, its all about the food and atmosphere. With fresh ingredients, interesting and varied recipes, excellent preparation and presentation, served in a quaint bistro atmosphere, Cafe Assisi delivers every time. Derek and his team consistently do a superb job.

One of a handful of Italian restaurants we love to go to. The pasta and pizza is amazing. I alwaya have intentions to order from the lunch menu, but the full menu is just way better for pasta options. You cant go wrong for lunch or dinner.

The Calzone is phenomenal!! The crust is thin, the cheese is very fresh and delicious. Also, the sausage is not salty. I was surprise I didnt get sick of the Calzone after I ate it all. If you love garlic, go for the chicken&broccoli pasta.

I am giving it 5 stars Food is great. Place is tiny as hell though. They need to expand in a big way. Its painful to get take out, because while waiting for the chow you are in the way of everyone coming and going. other wise its great

Owner is top class, food is best in class. Atmosphere is tight Italian cafe feel. Wait staff are awesome. Cant say enough. Must go to place for quality Italian at great prices. Rivals anything in Boston. Place worth driving to.
