La Siesta is truly a hidden gem - a great family and date-night restaurant, with well-above-average food and service, in an unexpected location. The decor is attractive and welcoming, and the bar offers a casual, congenial place to wait for your table or your friends. The service is excellent: prompt and courteous but never intrusive. Most importantly, the food is authentically Mexican, with many dishes made from old family recipes, and its delicious. Im particularly fond of a really nice scallop dish they offer: a generous number of perfectly-grilled scallops, attractively presented with a nicely formed mound of rice, all bedded on a delicate sauce. Its so exquisitely seasoned that my entire mouth has a party with every bite. (Seasonings at La Siesta seem New-England-mild to me, but you can always request more intensity if you really know your chiles.) Call ahead for large tables or special celebrations - and be sure to let your server know if its your birthday!

Cant believe this place is just down the street from us. I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and the food, the service is nice too. The fresh hot chips and cool salsa are a nice treat. I only gave it 4/5 stars for one reason: The food has too much sugar in it. Mexican food is NOT supposed to be sweet, and I find that too many items have a sweet flavor, especially the items with mole sauce. Trust me, I know; I grew up in the Southwest. Maybe its the trend for restaurants to over-salt and -sugar things, but the sugars just not right in this case, and not what I grew up with. That said, Its the best Mexican food in the area, and Id recommend it to anybody.

Re: the chips and salsa, chips where good nice and warm, but their salsa was weak!! Def store bought which was disappointing. Re: food, menu option is def limited and not too authentic. I Am mexican and felt the food was americanized but overall tasty even if not that authentic. We got a chile verde burrito which was good but not impressive ave tasting and then got the Thursday special chicken milanesa which was tender and the sauce was really good so def recommend that! Re: service, it was good, friendly and our waiter even offered to not charge us if we didnt like the food.

Delicious drinks and great food! A little expensive for a typical Mexican restaurant but this isnt a typical Mexican restaurant! Well worth it as the cooks are amazing. Has great specials daily. I recommend the Chicken Special, its a non-menu item offered daily, even when not on special, because of its popularity! If you want something lighter the Chipotle wings are delicious. Super friendly staff and bartenders. Great selection of beers and drinks and the chips and salsa are complimentary and made from scratch on the premises. Great hidden gem in the center of Winthrop!

The first time we visited La Siesta we were seated quickly, but then waited for over 10 minutes and still no server. So we decided to order takeout instead and the owner was very apologetic and the meal was on them. That was a nice gesture. We decided to give it another try for takeout and this time the carnitas was very overcooked and there were items missing from our order, which I had to go back for after I had arrived home. I see many people like this establishment, but I have had no luck and moved on.

I had the lobster ravioli special. Saturated in a mildly spicy cream sauce. Fish, scallops, muscles, broccoli in a heavy cream sauce. Awesome! Dont let the broccoli fool you. This is a 2000 calorie plate of heaven. Took half home. Paired with a jalapeño cucumber Margarita. Very good but it made me think of a glade bathroom freshener. We sat outside. Nice nice. Patio heated by a heat tower and fire place. Donna, our waitress was excellent.

My wife and I have been coming here for years, two or three times a week sometimes when we just didnt feel like cooking or just craved the Chicken Special(my favorite). This is a wonderful family restaurant, we have had many family functions there as well. Out of all the times we have eaten there we have never had a bad meal. Thank you La Siesta!

Great food but service on Friday night is not the greatest. I think my margarita wasnt ordered right away because it took close to 20 minutes to arrive. And I wanted to order dessert but our server was way too busy to look at us the whole night. Dessert just arrived......... Whaddya know? She remembered who it was for......

Ive been in Massachusetts for a week and a half and Ive yet to have good iced tea. The chips and salsa was excellent also. My wife had the chimichanga and I had the enchiladas Mexicanas. FANTASTIC! I missed Texas until I walked into this place. Dont miss it if youre anywhere close. Oh yeah...the service was excellent too :)

Cant recommend this place enough. Fantastic food and friendly service (thank you, Donna) for a fraction of what the same thing would cost in Boston. Its a lively, clean and pleasant atmosphere. So glad to have found this place. Ill make the half hour drive to eat here again.

Still the best Mexican food in the area. Everything is good, and lately the specials have been out of this world. The nights when they have jambalaya I feel lucky, it is amazing! The place is always clean, the staff is helpful and the food is great. I love coming here.

This place is great. I have been coming here for years and you can really tell it is a family owned restaurant. It is a man and his wife making his grandmothers recipes from Mexico. The food is delicious and the people are always very friendly.

Im from San Diego and I travel 100% for work. This is the only Mexican food Ill touch throughout the USA and outside of San Diego! When visiting I go home to this place. Amazing food!... and its not Tex-Mex!!

Vibrant, fun, colorful Mexican restaurant specialising in dishes from the Durango region. Lighter, healthier, more European style sauces. Excellent bar with a broad range of margaritas.

This place has ruined me for most other Mexican places. I usually skip the menu and just get ones of the specials. And always a margarita. The new jalapeno cucumber margarita preferred.

Food is okay but they have small portions. Ive definitely had better Mexican elsewhere but La Siesta is almost always packed. Drinks were pricey for a outside the city.

Its good and has good food but the only problem is the money that you have to pay for your food. I would suggest dont go out with more than 7 people to this restaurant
