Ive been to PAUL many times and its so-so. There have been times where Ive experienced greatness here, and times where Ive left feeling like my money would be better spent elsewhere, preferably a place where I dont have to spend $25 for one meal to fill me up. First of all, I love the little set up they have here. The comfy seating and contemporary decor fashions a cute and cozy modern French bakery. They have GREAT quiches here. They are flakey like a croissant on the outside, warm, and they always taste amazing and make me want more. The unfortunate part is that the servings are pretty small. For $10, I feel like you should be getting a bigger slice. I tried one of their macarons for the first time after drooling over them every time I walked past the display in the window. For a French bakery, I was very disappointed in the raspberry macaron. It was too moist on the inside, so I didnt get that "melt in your mouth" feeling. The taste was just ok, and unfortunately the consistency made it seem that I was just eating raw jelly. Even though I spend a lot more money than I would like to for "meh" coffee and small portions, something keeps me returning to PAUL, so I guess you should just try it for yourself.

Paul is just not ready for prime time. Ordered the Complete Breakfast - a $17 mean with is basically a baguette, eggs, OJ and Coffee. OJ is supposed to be fresh squeezed - was handed a Minute Maid. Did not arrive before we were done eating - when I asked about it I was told they ran out. Asked for a manager - but the manager was busy. Then asked for a refund - was given attitude and then they processed it - however looking at my CC statement it looks like I was actually just charged a second time for the meal. After the failed refund, the Coffee finally was delivered- however the staff who processed the failed refund saw that, walked over and took the coffee to dump it out.

Having thought very highly of Pauls bakery/cafe in Paris, London, and D.C. for pastries, we tried Washington Street/Bostons and Assembly Row/Somervilles branches and were disappointed: while the almond croissants were excellent and the chocolate deluxe croissant was pretty good, the plain croissants were mysteriously dismal ---not flaky or buttery, more like a crescent roll---and the lemon tartlet featured decent lemon curd on a softish, non-buttery base instead of a rich, buttery, firm cookie crust. The coffee in Boston was fine while in Somerville it was bland and tepid. The Paul chain needs to inject some quality control and consistency into its brand.

We were walking around the Assembly Row area, not expecting a place that offered a quick bite, as it seemed like everything was a sit down restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to see this tucked away behind the ice cream place. The pastries looked great, and we grabbed a jelly beignet that was not bad, and a fruit tartlet that was quite good. The pastries seemed a little bit pricey, but they looked of high quality and were hoping to come back soon to try the other foods in less of a hurry to grab a quick bite. They had an assortment of coffees/teas, as well as sandwiches, and there was a decent amount of people lined up around 4:30 PM on a Saturday.

We like this place. Its a mix between a coffee shop and a bakery. We order a vanilla latte, a regular coffee and a lemon meringue tart treat. The vanilla latte was tasty with a good consistency. The lemon meringue was delicious that looked and tasted like a treat from one of the North End bakeries with an appropriate amount of richness for a small treat. The service was very friendly and the pricing was on par for the meringue. The place had a nice lounge-like atmosphere to it. Well definitely come back!

Came in here after a friend from NYC told me they are wildly popular in Paris. Found out this is the only location in the states (as well as the Natick Mall) so wanted to try a few things to see what the fuss was about. I got some olive bread which was excellent. Both flavorful and great texture. The olives added a good tang to the bread as well. I also tried the elephant ear which also was pretty good. I will def try more of their breads in the future.

I really enjoyed my lunch here. Had a french onion soup and roll. My girlfriend had a vegetable quiche. For desert we shared a chocolate croissant. The ambiance is really nice here as well. My only issue with the place is we ordered all our food together, yet my soup came out asap and then we had to wait 20 minutes for my girlfriends quiche to come out. Every place Ive been to eat, the food comes out together. Next time, Ill make sure to request this.

I expected much more from a PAUL bakery. The sandwich I ordered for take out took 40 mins to come because the "forgot" my order. The employees were unfriendly and rude. The whole place was a general mess due to their inability to handle the number of people there. I am truly surprised at how many people were actually willing to put up with the service of this useless bakery. The PAULs across the pond are sooo much better.

My experience here has been pretty inconsistent. I am inclined to give 4 stars for food & 2 stars for staff/customer service. My first visit around the time it opened was great all around. Then, Ive had times which I thought staffs were rude and tables could have been cleaned better. Overall, not a bad place to grab a cup of coffee with friends or light meals if staffs are in a good mood.

Keep in mind that most negative reviews are from 3+ months ago as of July 2017. The first thing we were told as we entered was "you should buy the chocolate almond croissant, theyre fresh out of the oven." I highly recommend trying to get whichever pastry is freshest and still warm from baking. We didnt wait too long for our Croque monsieur or our Quiche, which were both excellent.

After asking the baker his name more then once he replied thats not your business before he turning around I glanced on his name tag and it said Eric. I did let him no he didnt have to speak to me in that manner he asked me what am I going to do and to shut the F up !!!! I will never ever go back there and I will let all of social media how disrespectful this place is !!!!!!!

Love the fact that a real Parisian bakery is up here. It tastes exactly the same as what my hubby and I had in France. Slightly different offerings than what is in Europe, but beware, pricing is very European aka pricey.

Ordered a lattee. Never got it. When I approached the staff I was given attitude and terrible service. And then finally someone said they would make it. Another 20 minutes went by but it still never showed up.
