First of all I would like to say that usually this is one of my favorite places to get sushi and I eat here quite often. The food is always on point and every time Ive ordered sushi its fresh and delicious. I just took my fiance there for a birthday dinner and I was APALLED. It was only 9 pm on a Wednesday night and from the moment we walked in I felt like I was being prepared to be escorted out. The manager walked us to our table and was chewing food in his mouth the entire time he greeted us, if you can call it a greeting. Then our waitress, Amy, was so incredibly rude from the moment she came over to our table I felt like we must have done something to offend her when we sat down. She didnt greet us just came over and asked what we wanted to drink in a very snippy and bored manner. When she brought us plates and chopsticks, she literally threw the soy sauce dishes onto the table and walked off in a huff. I dont know if she was having a bad night or what but every time we said thank you, she just said "yep" under her breath and walked away. Being a former waitress Im usually a very generous tipper, but Id say the 3 dollars we left her was more than being kind. When we left, we heard her complaining about her tip and then the other person she was whining about it to looked at my fiance and I, shook his head, and laughed at us. It was enough to turn me off to eating in the actual restaurant ever again. Ill be getting take-out from now on so I dont have to deal with the incompetent staff.

Bauhinia is fantastic. Their food is really great quality and their service is great too. Im partial to the buffet, which in comparison to a lot of regular buffet restaurants, is very small, but I think the quality far outdoes most of those other places. Its more of a nice sit down restaurant too, compared to a lot of other chinese places nearby. The building is gorgeous and I think its a nice place to bring friends and family. Their General Gaus Chicken, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Crab Rangoons and Pork Fried Rice are some of my favorite dishes. They have the best General Gaus Chicken in the area as far as Im concerned! its a treat for us to go here and the people are so nice that it makes me happy to support their business. Its a little pricier for their regular menu, but youre getting what you pay for. They dont have delivery and there are a lot of delivery places closer to us than Bauhinia, but we will go out of our way to pick up food from here when we want something good. Today is our anniversary and my husband is going from Hopkinton after work to pick up our low-key anniversary dinner! Hmmm now to decide if I want to get Wonton Soup or not...

A friend and I had lunch a few days ago. We asked about the cost of the buffet and were told $5.95. That seemed very cheap but after all, it is Chinese. We decided to do the buffet instead of having an item off the lunch menu for $6-$12. When we got the bill it was DOUBLE what we had been told. When I asked about it they said that she made a mistake. The amount on the bill was the price and that was what we had to pay. She did apologize but I thought as a goodwill gesture they could have taken a few dollars off the bill because it was their mistake. I asked for that but it was refused ("This is the price!"). During our meal I had thought about going back a few days later to eat with my husband but I wont ever go back now.

We decided to try this place out for our daughters first communion based on the online reviews. We reserved for a party of 40. What a disappointment. The selection of entries was so limited, each time my party went to serve, the buffett trays were always empty and had to scrap. Also, the place is pricey relative to what they offer...charges a buck fifty for an extra cup of tea...go figure!!! If I were to consider a Chinese buffett...I would not recommend this place for the life of me. Looks did not translate to good food/service. If you are considering a Chinese buffet in Shrewsbury...try the Imperial Buffett by the Price Chopper Plaza,..has more selection and variety.

My family went for easter last year for the buffet. The service was awful even though there were only 2 or 3 other tables present. The buffet wasnt stocked with barely any food it took over an hour for them to stock 1 item. It took 20 min to get drinks. They had 2 young boys working as waitstaff who had no idea what they were doing or any knowledge of the food. If it wasnt for such a long line at imperial buffet we wouldnt have come here. After we left we felt like for the amount of money they ask for the buffet it should be stocked and full and atleast good. 3 strikes foe this place.

Absolutely incredible!! Staff is very friendly, Restaurant is very clean, and the Sushi was some of the best Ive ever had and I travel extensively. I recommend it highly if you are in the area!!! Updated on 7/21/2017- sushi quality has degraded significantly since my first review. Likewise so has attentiveness of staff. I have eaten there 4 times since my first review and each time it was progressively worse. Time to move on now that i know the chef wasnt just having a bad day. So sad....

I went for the lunch buffet, at the beginning of Jan. 2011-costs a little over 10 $. Only a few decent choices of food, and their trays were almost empty (I was there around 1:30 pm). They had only 2 types of sushi for the buffet, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for that to be refilled. Mediocre quality. The design inside is nice, but we went there to eat, not to stare at the walls. There are better options for chinese lunch buffet around. I would not go there again, for the same.

If I could give this I stars I would. Went there for supper tonight and when the food came out it was horrible. The rice was burned, the chicken fingers were over cooked, and the egg rolls were even worse. I spoke with the manager who stated that if I didnt like it then dont eat there... Not really the way I would have handled that and I wont eat there again.

all those who have enjoyed the food here are too accustomed to the terrible Chinese cuisine options available in the area. please do yourselves a favor and do not ingest this cat food that they serve at the so called "buffet".

Typical American Chinese food. Very saucy veggies. Miso soup was water with large globs of salty, unmixed miso paste. Do not go here unless you want to stick with the typical fried stuff. Large portions.

The Chinese food is good and is busy on weekend evenings. Sometimes the food is great and other times its just ok. We still keep going back as its close by and one of the few in town.

Inside looks like a ski house, well done standard Chinese and Sushi place, reasonable prices, large portions, strong drinks, generally good service. A good value.
