What a unique experience, great food, nice people. I happened to be in the area about 15 - 20 miles north of Boston when I heard from my wife about the LDD in Peabody, she saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and suggested that I check it out. So I went and found it on a Sunday morning and found a place that was not operating at a frantic pace but rather cozy and laid back. I walked into a small entry room, big enough to hold 2 - 3 people maximum, that had a small counter on one side with a coffee pot, cups and extras. There was a sign on a small blackboard which read "Help yourself to a cup of coffee then drop a buck in the honest cup.". People would come in, say good morning, get their coffee, drop their buck in the cup and then be on their way. I continued into the diner through a small sliding "pocket door". I introduced myself and how I heard about them. I met Judy, the owner, her son Joe and Laurie, the waitress. 13 stools, a counter and a model train running around the ceiling all decorated for Christmas. I had to try the "Train Wreck" for breakfast, corned beef hash, fried potato squares, 2 poached eggs, home made Boston Baked Beans with bacon and some brown bread with a sauce on it like I had never tasted before. Absolutely excellent. Being from the Chicagoland everything seems to always be hurry hurry rush rush turn that table, not here. Sit, relax, talk, have a cup of coffee or two. If I find myself back in that part of the country again the Little Depot Diner will definitely be on my list of places to have a good breakfast and nice conversation. C. M. Carter, Bartlett, IL

Penny Cluse Cafe in Burlington Vermont was the best breakfast Ive ever had. Today that changed. This is a small 12 seat diner but delivers big. I had the pastrami benedict. The pastrami was grilled on two oversized English muffins with two eggs, holondaise sauce and home fries. What a treat that was. The pastrami was perfect the eggs cooked just right and the sauce was fresh. The home fries were spiced right. The coffee was really good. I had three or four cups. The combination of all this with the blues music and the place itself was a wonderful experience. My wife had the Greek omlette with beans. I tasted the beans they were very well cooked. She liked the omlette and beans very much. It had baby spinach, feta cheese and tomato. The two ladies working there were very nice and eager to help. Thank you for this experience.

An AMAZINGLY cool place to eat but do get there early as there is only a counter with about 12 stools which are very close together. The joint is decorated with awesome vintage rock and blues memoribilia and there is a continuous flow of great music playing in the background. The two ladies working the tight place were friendly, efficient and fast. Our food was good, really good and the Hungarian sausage was delicious and tasty..not spicy but as good as Italian linguica. Since I had never tasted it before, the owner was kind enough to bring me a couple of little pieces. Our food came quickly and many of the customers were regulars and called by name. Bitchen place with a great vibe. A+++

This was an amazing find. I come to Salem for Halloween every year and never knew about this place. The food is delicious, the prices are good, and the service is awesome. I will definitely be coming back here. Ordered steak and eggs, steak is shaved but still moist and tasty. Corned beef hash, was excellent. Breakfast tacos were fresh and tasty. Sausage was delicious. The lowest part was the coffee which by no means is bad but I dont think its on par with the rest of the food and service. Oh and sign the guestbook...

Great place, Collette the owner and her husband have a great place... Good food, great service and every one is happy to see you. Wanted to try this place after I saw it on DDD, and because its different owners I cant compare between the two, but as far as this place goes its awesome. Small, Diner stool seating and cash only... And a train that goes all way around ceiling for the lil ones. Nice job guys.

Went on a spontaneous date to this cute little diner. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in terms of getting cash from ATM/ finding little shopping venues around the town. DELICIOUS food, reasonably priced, and bottomless coffee! Can definitely see that staff loves to form genuine bonds with customers. Overall a little piece of home away from home. Must go!

Expect a wait for a seat on one of the fifteen stools that are in this 1923 dining car. Have your breakfast food (or other things, like Hungarian sausage or sandwiches) and Blues music elbow to elbow with other patrons. Its worth the wait for the experience of the musical decor, nostalgic diner atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food.

The owners and staff create a old diner feeling and are very welcoming. The place is tiny but extremely clean. If youre a fan of breakfast church them out. We went for breakfast and everyone left full and happy. The lunch menu looks good. If I am in the area again it will be a must stop!

Appearances can be deceiving. Get place! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Fast service and amazing food! We ordered the waffle and special of the day, banana walnut French Toast. I wish I was from here so I could go more often! It seems to be the place where the "locals" go!

Great food, personable owners, reasonable prices. Good blues playing in the background. Try my favorite, the home made Hungarian sausage & Dominics (2.5 y/o), the homemade banana bread with the special butter. Oh yes & the train does a lap around the diner if hes done a good job.

Delicious, friendly, tiny, local joint. The girls behind the counter seem to know about half of the people in there, and treated everybody like regulars. Theyd get five stars if their portions of their delicious house-made sausage were a little more generous.

Undoubtedly the best breakfast place in the region. Their atmosphere, staff, food combination is truly unique and unforgettable. Make sure you look for the specials, they are original and always good, and get the special butter. Youll thank me later.
