I visited today Sunday August 14,2016....Well where should I start, hostess acted like she never seen humans before... I wonder if it was because my daughter is black latino, they sat us at a booth table where above me the ceiling leaked my wife posted a picture of it on her Facebook, now lets move on the waitress Cristina to start with she only said her name and gave us the menu walked away came back when she remembered to take our drinks order, soda was like flat, she didnt bring bread to the table or did she go over the drink menu but she sure did with the table behind us and as well they got the bread. Her outfit her spandex pants were so see thru my wife just made the comment in the car that her lace underwear could be seen for God sakes its supposed to be a family restaurant I believe as well, we could have been choking and never offer to do a refill of the drinks... Now the food for the price and the quantity and quality we were expecting at least better quality of food, we had Fish and Chips and Grill Lobster Tails, kids had Cheeseburgers and Fries( my 15yr. Old son even said playing it safe here) as a joke. The Lobster tails were rubbery over cooked and far from being grill, broccoli as a side with the whole stem on a side bowl luke warm, fish was same oh lets not forget the appetizers fried calamari that was horrible and the portion please, price ridiculous. The whole Gloucester seafood experience at this place horrible myself and whole family give a two thumbs down on everything. NEVER AGAIN WILL COME BACK OR WILL RECOMMENDED AT ALL STAY AWAY. CLAM CHOWDER HORRIBLE... PRAYING MY WIFE DOESNT GET SICK FROM IT. VERY PROUD TO SAY I LEFT NO TIP, NEVER FELT SO DISCRIMINATE IT AGAINST.

Came in on a Sunday around 7pm. The three ladies chatting behind the host stand gave us a lukewarm welcome, and all looked like theyd rather be somewhere else. We were seated promptly in a booth with a great view of the wharf. Our server had an indifferent/cold attitude. But I know he was capable of smiling because he did so when talking with his co-workers. We ordered lemonade, clam chowder, mussels, and pan-fried haddock with a lemon caper sauce. Chowder was standard. Lemonade was store bought. Mussels were amazing, perfectly cooked, fresh, served with a rich creamy butter sauce. Fish was very disappointing, mushy and barely warm, and fishy not in an appetising way. The lemon sauce was warheads sour, likely to mask the taste of the fish. The fish was only palatable after being thoroughly washed in the mussel sauce. The taste, temperature, and consistency of the fish all point to it being cooked long ago, left to sit out under a heat lamp. The fries that came with the fish were soggy and less than warm, likely suffering the same fate as the fish. No acknowledgment when leaving the establishment. No thanks you, no goodbyes, no come again, and we definitely wont be. Tl;dr: The food was supbar, except the mussels. The service was subpar. But the ambience and view were nice.

I was visiting the area and came here for lunch. The food was average, typical tourist fare. The servers attitude was efficient but poor. My waiter was in his twenties and kept addressing me as miss, even though its obvious that Im in my fifties. If he had said it once, fine, but he said it every time he came to my table. It was patronizing and annoying. Also, he kept coming back to the table to see if I was finished. It was 1:30 on a weekday at an outdoor table, the place wasnt crowded, and I was eating at a normal pace. He even admitted toward the end that he didnt mean to keep coming over. So why did he? Pathetic.

Definate tourist trap..had whole lobster..just barely legal size..served with corn on cob that sat in water too long..served with small portion of coleslaw..and seriously, no boiled potato with the meal..maybe north shore is different but I grew up with the clam boil and always included potato..but the clam chowder had plenty of potatoe but lacked any noticable amount of clams..so the meal was mediocre at best and very expensive for what we got..i would not call this place a good representation of what a good shore/seafood place should be..waitstaff was unattentive.. I do not recommend..

Good chowder, I got the seafood pizza it was burned and not cut through so I had to struggle to eat. I lost half of my toppings each time I tore a piece off to eat it because the crust was so tough. I sat at the bar and when the bartender handed me the menu she said "we are out of almost everything" in a not so pleased voice. She acted like it was a huge bother for her to wait on me. I heard her complain to other customers also. I know we all have bad days at work sometimes but when youre in the hospitality business you just have to keep it to yourself.

They get their lobsters delivered right on the dock of the restaurant, seeing as it is right on the water. Its nice to sit there and watch the fishing boats come in and unload their catch at the processing plants to the right. On our last visit we saw Harbor Seals poking their heads out. It was quite funny seeing half the restaurant get up in one collective movement, drop their forks and knives, and come over to the windows and peer out the windows. Luckily we had window seats!

First off - the BEST French Onion Soup ever!!! Cant go wrong with anything on the menu. I go there often, and have never been disappointed. Consistent in excellent food; friendly service; warm and welcoming; and not that expensive compared to other places in the area. If you miss the Gloucester House - then you have really missed out! The chef prepares wonderful dishes, i.e. Madeira Chicken - absolutely wonderful.

A 20 minute wait turned into an hour, for a group of four and two kids. Hostess was rude to us for no reason. For the prices we figured it was worth it, but when it food arrived finally about a hour and a half after arriving, lobster pie was literally pieces of lobster with bread crumbs, totally dry. Shrimp was overcooked. For a seafood place on the coast this is a joke, much better places in the area.

I dont think they have invented a word for how good the cornbread is. I would go here just for their cornbread, it is the best ever. so moist, not dry at all, like a lot of cornbread is, which makes u wanna cough. it is so freakin good, and on our last visit, they put fresh blueberries in it, which only added. I suggest asking for a couple more pieces after you devour the 2 you get to start.

I have celiac disease and I rarely eat out.I was so happy to find that the Gloucester House had a gluten free menu and staff that were knowledgable about celiac disease. My waitress Maryjo even helped me pick out safe options. The food was wonderful and I couldnt ask for better service!!! The most important thing was .. I had no gluten contaminations!!! Thank you Gloucester House
