I love Italian pizzeria express. No where in Boston can you get delicious food from a 5-star restaurant and pay a very reasonable price. Other Italian restaurants in Boston can be very expensive but the quality and taste isnt on par with Italian pizzeria express. What i love the most about this place is that it doesnt matter what your economic background is, whether youre a broke college student or from a hardworking blue collar family, anyone can afford and enjoy a meal wealthy people would normally overpay for at a reasonable price and leave very full. My girlfriend and i have been here at least 6 times, and weve never had a bad meal here. I would ignore any reviews that is below a 4 star rating, because either those people are impossible to please, difficult, or they dont know what good food taste like. Below is my breakdown as to why this is the best Italian restaurant in all of Boston. Price: 5/5 Most Italian places charge at least $20 per entree dish and the portions arent that good. The most expensive entree dish at Italian Pizzeria express is $22, the frutti dimare, but its loaded various fresh seafood and a ton of pasta. Seriously, its a meal for 2 people at $22. Quality: 5/5 Ive had the pleasure of speaking with Jim, the owner of this restaurant, and he is someone who takes pride in his food. The olive oil he uses is imported from Italy. He makes his pasta and other food from scratch. He uses mascarpone cheese for his ravioli, so that the ravioli has a smooth taste. The man spares no expenses when it comes to serving delicious food. The desserts are amazing. My girlfriend loves red velvet cakes, and she said that the red velvet cake at Italian pizzeria is the best shes ever had. The homemade cannoli is THE BEST cannoli, Ive ever tasted in Boston (and Ive tried Mikes pastries and Modern pastries). When I spoke with the co-owner Jim recently, he mentioned that he makes the cannoli filling himself and that his brother makes the red velvet cake from scratch, even the cream cheese filling for the cake. However, there are days when the owner isnt in and the quality of the food dips slightly, but not enough to be super noticeable. Service: 4.5/5 If the owner Jim is working, then youll get excellent service and leave with a great experience. Other staff can be inconsistent, some are great and some are not as friendly. Some are prompt and others can be forgetful. Overall, this is the best Italian restaurant in all of Boston. I love that they do a good job keeping the prices down so anyone can enjoy a delicious meal and leave full and happy.

Never have I ever been so adamantly loyal and boastful about any restaurant. Italian Express has the best vibes and delicious food I could ever ask for. Its definitely your quintessential Boston restaurant which takes a little getting used to, but take the time to have a conversation with anyone who works there and youll get a warm and enjoyable conversation. Jim and Jonathan are involved and love their business and it shows. Talking with Jim about their marinara sauce is like talking to a Napa Valley winemaker about his prized wines. The atmosphere is relaxed and feels a bit a like an Italian villa. Its less like eating at a restaurant and more like eating at a home. The pizza is FANTASTIC! Any time I have a get together for the weekend, Italian Express is the first place I call. Our personal favorites have been the sausage & meatball (& mushrooms if its a special occassion) and prosciutto/ricotta/basil. Their spaghetti is also on point, but honestly its the sauce and the meatballs that are on point. Theyre delicious and have that homemade taste that lets you know these are handmade with love and tradition. Ive made at least 10 people either come with me into that restaurant or have one with me at home and all have loved it. The food is great, their team is welcoming and fun, and its an East Boston experience everyone should have!

Why do I enjoy this place? The food, the decor, the variety of good beer, the food, the food, did I mention the food?! Immediately I was transported to my Italian grandmothers kitchen and just as welcome. This was especially unexpected as our flight arrived from Minneapolis only a couple hours prior - so good to be in a weloming and familiar environment (although we had never been there) after dealing with air travel! The space fills up quickly so get there early or call ahead to place an order for take-out. The four of us adults in the group placed our orders and then our 2 year old started getting fussy. The owner of the restaurant saw us in our plight and brought over a travel cup to pour his milk since we had forgotten his sippy cup back in the hotel... Just a little thoughtfulness goes a long way! The food. Wow! We were in Boston only two days before connecting with our next flight and we must have eaten at least three (possibly four) meals from this establishment. Anything you order is exceptionally well made, so order with abandonment! Sincerely, Frederick J. Humphrey Minneapolis, MN

A complete disaster! I was at Logan airport terminal E and ordered for delivery. Not only did the 2 pizzas pies we ordered at 7:17pm arrive at 9:05pm, they didnt put the buffalo chicken on half of one of the pies. And to top that off it came to $37. We paid with a 100 dollar bill and told him to give us $55 back. We gave him our money and he gave us the change. 25 mins later phone blowing up with the delivery guy saying we didnt give him the money. So I asked "if I didnt hand you the money why would you give me change back before you see what I have or get the money in your hand?" And after I drove my bus out with passengers he returned with someone and aggressively approached co-worker. My co-worker called me in fear and told him we gave him the money and they argued. And before leaving said "stay right here, well be back". Word... I wish I was there. But instead Ill inform everyone how ratchet and unprofessional they are...

It was a busy night in East Boston, even after the storm dumped over a foot of snow earlier in the week. Jim met us at the door and seated us right away. They do offer call-ahead seating, which I highly recommend, especially on Friday nights. Our waitress was attentive and on her toes all night long. We ordered the meatballs once again, since they were heavenly the last time we visited. They were not a disappointment, moist and delicious as always. I ordered the ravioli and meatballs and my boyfriend ordered a pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms on it. We dont get out to Boston often, so we like to order enough for leftovers. We ended our meal with a delicious slice of the chocolate salted caramel cake. If you havent tried this restaurant, you are missing out. We recommend Italian Express Pizzeria to all of our friends traveling to the area. We will return again and again.
