This spot is clearly really hip and happening -- it was packed. While Id say the wait is too long if youre just going in for a coffee, I had the Crema Golden Latte -- with honey and cinnamon -- and it was really lovely. For lunch I had the Roasted Lamb sandwich, which was quite good, but Im not certain Id order it again: overall, the sandwich is really messy and hard to eat, though quite tasty. The Focaccia bread was perfect, buttery and crispy, well-pressed. The lamb was moist and delicious, but in fact it was so tender that it was hard to bite and basically all of the lamb in the sandwich would come out in one bite. Also, I would have wanted a bit more arugula on the sandwich (for some more bite) and a bit less walnut mayo (there was far too much) -- in fact I think the sandwich might have benefited from a citrus mayo for some added brightness. The roasted tomatoes, though, were perfect and really helped balance out the heavy-handed mayo. As far as the service, it could have been a bit friendlier. As I waited by the sandwich bar to pick-up my to-go sandwich, I heard one of the sandwich-makers making fun of another customer who had just left, and he went on to complain audibly about several past customers. As a customer, it doesnt make you feel great. Still, I would be happy to go back to Crema Cafe and try some of their other delicious bites. :)

No WiFi is a coffee shop killer. Theyre afraid the hahvid kids would never leave...THEY STILL DONT! *Not a WiFi thing, its a testiclel-lacking managerial decision. $5 coffee like Starbucks, check. Overcrowded upper level seating on hemorrhoid inducing wood chairs. Screaming Batista yells the name over thumpy bass "hug the world" bullshxt music. Decor is on par with a college apartment after 2weeks of move in. Disheveled, sparse, blahzay, filler crap. Menu is so high up on the wall that only Yao Ming could notice it. Antisocial seating consisting of a repetition of "table for two" setups that look like there was a school closing the day they furnished the place. They complain about the Harvard kids hunkering down yet cater to them by overcrowding the upper level seating and they dont patrol the place. Thats their defense for no WiFi? Routers have guest pass codes that expire after preset time...1hr per purchase? So they punish the customers by failing to provide WiFi while they blame and cater to the Harvard kids at the same time. No WiFi, overcrowded seating, wood chairs, crap music, screaming Batistas and $5 coffee on par with any other coffee shop (if not less)...enjoy my fiver because Im not coming back. Might as well open the doors to the homeless with this bass backwards managerial policy.

I usually go to Starbucks, but I figured since I was in Cambridge I would go somewhere unique and local. On my second visit to Crema Cafe, my order was taken by a annoying and judgmental server. A woman an inch from the cashier asked for my order which she then repeated with a snide tone to the cashier. Apparently she was put-off by the fact that I asked for a few ice cubes in my espresso? Then, once my drink, which I ordered with soy was made, I asked the barista if the soy was at the bar. To which she responded by placing the generic soy milk on the opposite end of the counter from where I was standing. I recognize that my complaints may seem silly, but I was struck by the rudeness of the staff on that visit.

Good, inviting (but often cramped, active/lively) spot for meetings (Harvard students frequently meet venture capitalists here -- the ratio is impressive), or an affordably lavish way to study (exposed brick walls further augment the atmosphere). Order a well-made, fresh-pressed sandwich (many inspired options, savory -or- sweet), and pair it with one of their wide variety of fresh drinks -- its always bustling at lunch time. House-made, fresh (superb) pastries provide something for everyone. Highlights: Sweet Potato Sandwich, English Muffin, Red Nectar (White Cranberry Juice & Rooibis Tea -- very tasty!), Granola Bar, Daily Quiches, Golden Crema, Bacon-Turkey-Avocado w/Jicama Slaw. Bummer: No Free Wi-Fi ... :-(

Its a rainy Boston day and I needed some nourishment and a steaming cafe au lait. Crema cafe has a cozy atmosphere with large work tables long enough to hold students, writers, and families. Just as if you were in a German beer garden you sit together at this place. This cafes close encounters has European sensibility of being able to connect people with their community while enjoying delicious food and drink. I opt for the quiche, freshly made with ingredients like leeks, caramelized onions, and sometimes sweet potatoes. When Im in the mood for sweet I like the rosemary and goat cheese sandwich with honey. All and all this is probably my favorite cafe in Harvard Square.

I wouldnt call Crema Cafe a small cute coffee shop. Its right in the middle of Harvard Square and it gets a lot of traffic because of that. Crema gets some serious bonus points for having an upstairs with a decent amount of seating. I recommend this if you are meeting someone and want to sit. Its large enough you can probably find a seat. The prices are about what I would expect for a non-generic coffee shop and the cappuccino was good! I would recommend this place as a good meeting place for professional or non-professional reasons. But, I dont go out of my way to go.

This was a great place to stop in for lunch while in Harvard. Luckily scored a seat - I can imagine that is not always easy as the place was busy and has that coffee hang out vibe - where some people may hunker down for a few hours. I had an ice tea and a sweet potato sandwich that was delicious. The only down side is the salads werent made to order, but they did seem fresh. A highlight of the trip was when I saw them whip out a huge loaf of ciabatta! Soups seemed popular and looked good. Definitely will think of this place from now on when in Harvard Square.

I stopped in here before the Head of the Charles to get a quick breakfast and the food here was great. I got a coffee and a breakfast sandwich and both were very good. They had a coffee special which came with some sort of maple syrup in it. It sounded odd but tasted great. The breakfast sandwich came on a croissant role and was soft and flaky. I took off one star because of the very long wait time and small seating area. Maybe I need to come during a less busy time.

The huge weekend lines for this place are well justified by the amazing croissants, creative and tasty cupcakes, ginormous and delicious cookies, and of course, seriously good coffee. The sandwiches are a bit pricey, but a nice occasional splurge for lunch. The staff is not super-friendly, but polite and professional. Dont be scared off by the $10 credit card minimum, they will still accept your card if you ask them to.
