I love sushi and I was really excited to hear about a sushi buffet restaurant in Boston area. I took my family here yesterday. My first impression of Pan Asia is beautiful decor and atmosphere. Unfortunately, they have a terrible hostess. The hostess I met was some middle-age chinese lady in sweatpants and sweatshirt. She literally yelled at us from across the room and herded us into the dining area with the menu. Her demeanor was just not up to par to such fancy decor. We tried their sushi buffet ($15.85/person), and the food was disappointing as well. The buffet offers limited food selection (only rolls, no sashimi), and there were less than 20 different kind of rolls (all cheap rolls like california or veggie rolls). But I could deal with limited selection if the sushi was good. Unfortunately, the sushi was made with chinese rice instead of sushi rice, so the texture is just weird. Anyway, the worse was that I got sick after I got home and puked all the sushi out. I have never had a worse restaurant experience, and I really expected the food and service to be better from such a pretty restaurant.

I feel morally responsible to review this place. This had to be the worst chicken Panang Ive ever had. The chicken was soggy and slimy like it had been lightly boiled. The order somehow didnt even come with rice. Im not sure how youre supposed to eat curry sauce without rice. Do I drink it? The price was terrible. The curry sauce was watery and flavorless. Id take Archer Farms (Target brand) jar of Panang sauce over this mess any day. This is an easy dish thats hard to mess up and this was almost inedible. Im pretty sure eating it gave me cancer to be honest.

I got Pad Thai take out from Pan Asia on West Broadway in South Boston today. Not worth it. The pad thai tastes more like lo mein. Its unbelievably spicy. Im actually chewing on pepper flakes. And there are many vegetables in it that Ive never seen in Pad Thai before. Maybe their Chinese food is better, but Im not going back. I should have taken the hint that there were only 2 people eating there at lunchtime on a Friday.
