Blue Dragon – Boston, MA – 3/1/2016 Boston Massachusetts is one of my favorite places. It is a mecca for great restaurants so if you’re a foodie in search of a great place to dine, look no further… This evening’s dining adventure would take me to Blue Dragon; one of two restaurants owned by the renowned chef Ming Tsai… The other restaurant he own in Massachusetts is Blue Ginger… I’ve been to both… The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a mix of Brown woods and Earth tones, white tiles and lots of glass. They only take reservations for parties of eight or more.and although it was only a Wednesday night, the place was packed… The servers are friendly and attentive and know the menu… I was promptly seated and would spend the next few minutes deliberating over the many choices on the menu… The feast would start with whipped Edamame hummus and spiced pita chips… Next.. Duck tostada with pineapple salsa and five spice mole... The soy pickled deviled egg with Taro nest was to die for! Taro is a potato like root vegetable julienned like potato sticks and arranged on the plate similar to a bird’s nest… hence the name…The egg yolk whipped with an aioli mustard was better than any deviled egg Id ever had before!… Then came the sweet and sour pork ribs… Red roast pork tail with mango sticky rice… Add in the Dan Dan noodles with bits of ground pork and a side of vegetable fried rice and you everything you could possibly want… If you like Asian a Fusion this is the place for you! No meal would be complete without an amazing dessert and tonight would be no exception… Here…, they call it “the cookie”… a deep dish chocolate chip cookie served warm in an iron skillet topped with ice cream and soy Caramel sauce… There is something about a fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookie with melting ice cream on a cold wintery night that just sets your palate ablaze… and although they don’t serve cappuccino, the coffee was quite good… As an added bonus tonight I had the pleasure of meeting chef Ming Tsai… What an awesome night! Highly recommended… I will be back…

Ate here on a recent visit to Boston, and absolutely loved it. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, it was a knockout. In terms of atmosphere, I often complain of restaurants that are scene-y being too loud to hear yourself think, let alone talk. But I did not find that to be the case at Blue Dragon. It had a vibrant atmosphere that was fun to be in, but was not disruptive to my dinner (where I was catching up with an old friend). Since they dont take reservations, you may have to wait awhile, but they quote wait times conservatively to avoid underquoting. We were quoted 30-40 minutes and were seated in 15. It was a pleasant surprise, and the drinks we ordered at the bar while we waited were easily transferred to our table bill. I personally love tapas/small plate style eateries where you can try lots of different dishes without emptying your wallet. Blue Dragon was perfect for that. For 2 people, and about $60, we had: 2 beers, pickled vegetables, pickled deviled egg, soy-honey glazed edamame, mushroom and chive dumplings, teriyaki bison sliders with gouda, caramelized onions & shitakes, 5-pepper smelts, and a giant desert (the only one on the menu) of a skillet chocolate chip cookie a-la-mode. We loved nearly everything, with the mushroom and chive dumplings ranking as "just ok" but everything else netting an "outstanding." Our server was super friendly and gave us several recommendations that turned out great. I would definitely recommend this as a fun place to take a date, catch up with friends, or show off your city to out of towners, all without breaking the bank. Highly recommended.

Mediocre meal here tonight, disappointing even though nothing was actually bad except the service. My waitress took almost ten minutes to stop by despite the restaurant not being crowded. Then she never checked on me after my appetizer or main course arrived; in fact, she didnt even bring my drink until I was several minutes into my entree! She didnt stop by to explain the delay, nor did she ever actually ask how my food was. The food was fine. I had the Thai chili pimento cheese dip with lime spiced tortillas, and they were OK if not absolutely delicious. I also has the teriyaki bison burgers, and the bison was almost flavorless- all the taste came from carmelized onions and mushrooms. I happen to love that combo so I was fine, but wish there was more flavor to the meat. Given all of the other options available, Im not sure Blue Dragon warrants a return visit. Bummer.

Blue Dragon is a very fun restaurant. Tapas style Asian inspired food. The noodle dishes, fried chicken, appetizers, everything is delicious, but the best part are the scorpion bowls! I always go with 1-3 friends and we get multiple bowls and always too much food but its so much fun! They dont take reservations and getting there early is a plus but waiting an hour isnt the worst and can be worth it! The space is nice, a few high top tables to have drinks at, the bar, normal tables to eat at and the open kitchen. Also be sure to use the first bathroom on your right, it has a mirror that you can see through to the kitchen/ restaurant but no one can see you in there! The servers are extremely well informed and nice, as are the rest of the wait staff/ hosts.

Ming Tsai has definitely brought his amazing talents to Boston. His original restaurant, Blue Ginger, is just outstanding and his doesnt diappoint here either. This restaurant is located in a booming area of Boston called Fort Point and is full of energy. The interior looks amazing and theyve done a lot with what seems to be a small space from the outside. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with any questions you have. The Pork & Scallion Wontons are a must try as well as the Curied Lamb Shephards Pie. For drinks I was a big fan of the Coronado Islander IPA as well as the Dragon Bowl. They also have a late night menu which a lot of restaurants dont have.

I really enjoy coming to Blue Dragon for a late night drink or snack with friends. They have a fun menu that is conducive to sharing, and their cocktails are fun and great for splitting. They have large scorpian bowl type drinks that are reasonably priced, and pack a strong punch and taste great. The restuarant offers above average Asian inspired cuisine, in a fun laid back atmosphere. TIP - if you need to use the bathroom, use the first door as you walk past the kitchen, you get a one way window into the cooking area!

Loved this quaint Asian Fusion bistro with outstanding service. Tried the lamb lollipops, Poke, pork belly buns, shishito peppers and brussel sprouts and each was unique and delicious. The pork belly and poke had dynamic flavor and were really memorable. The Singapore Sling I ordered was pretty good. Reminiscent of the original drink but not exactly true to it. Liked the tiki menu and varied other drink offerings. Overall I would definitely recommend Blue Dragon.

Ming Tsai is well known in Boston and this sot doesnt disappoint. Very similar to Toro in that it is small plates and doesnt take reservations but differs in that the focus is asian fusion. They do have a texting system where they will let you know when your table is ready so feel free to pop over to Luckys while you wait. Really interesting menu and delicious basil cocktail. Worth checking out as it definitely has more of an NYC vibe than your typical Boston spot
