I used to love coming here with friends to watch a game, but I must say I was disappointed yesterday when I was there for the Pats / Broncos playoff game. Four of us sat in the front area near the entrance. The service was very infrequent as I was lucky to see our server once every 30 minutes, and when I tried to flag her down she would completely ignore me. Then there was a situation I which these 2 homeless-looking guys came in who were clearly not "all there" and were asking people for money and creeping people out. I flagged down a server (not ours because she ignored me again) and told her they were creeping us out, and all she did was go up to the guys and say "do you guys need anything?" then bolt to the other end of the restaurant. For the next 20 minutes the staff seemed to completely avoid our area while these guys continued to freak out customers. Eventually they left and the staff suddenly started coming around again. I understand that in that area of Boston those people will inevitably wander in from time to time but it did not appear that the staff was making an effort to address the situation. Then there was the settling of the bill. One of my friends was leaving before the rest of us, and he told our server that he was leaving and asked to break off his own bill, and she just came back for the whole bill for the table. So my friend gave us cash and left and the rest of us figured wed close the bill and open a new one because we wanted to stay. Then when the server came back I explained to her that we wanted to split the bill between 3 credit cards, she looked at me like I was a cockroach and said "we dont do that! It will take too long in the system!" I said that I had done it there several times before and she said "not during a game. Were too busy." Then I asked if there was an ATM so that we could split it up with cash as she rolled her eyes and said "just give me it Ill split it" and walked away. She came back after few minutes and said the same thing again "we dont split it during a game because it takes too long blah blah blah" but then after a pause she said "fine but JUST THIS ONE TIME" and stormed of again. I highly doubt theyll actually be keeping track of that "one time" pass that I supposedly have. She then came right back with the bill split between the cards just like we asked. I was confused because I thought it was going to take a long time. She spent more time talking about how she couldnt split the bill than it actually took to split it. We also noticed that the table next to us split their bill with no problem and for the record, the other times when Ive had it done there were during playoff games. I also noticed after the fact that there as a sign that says "ATM available" and the server should have mentioned this. Im usually cooperative with whatever policies a restaurant has - I just asked to be informed about them politely. All that said, while the service was terrible my burger was very good and we had a good view of the game and could hear it perfectly. I will give this place another shot.

I usually dont write reviews but I see that the manager takes the time to respond to reviews on here so I am hoping that something comes of this. I used to come here many times while I was in grad school at Suffolk and used to be my main spot for starting off the night. However, the last couple times I was here I felt the place has really gone downhill, especially with the bartender service. Both times I sat at the bar and it took the bartender at least 5 minutes to come over and take my drink order when the place was relatively not busy. Yesterday at about 530 pm I met a friend there and after 10 minutes of being ignored, I said excuse me to an older female bartender with black hair. She looked at me and blatantly ignored me and walked in the other direction. My friend and I decided he was going to finish his drink and we would close out without tipping. Surprisingly she came over 5 minutes later and asked "Oh, did you want something?" I decided just to get a long trail and what I got was an inappropriately poured beer with a huge head, and it was splashed in front of me without a coaster. I couldnt believe the attitude on this woman and the retaliation I got for asking to be served after such a long period of time.

This is more fair than poor. Unless youre a tourist, or from the deep suburbs and dont really know where to go around the city, youre probably not going to end up here... as a general rule, people who arent a part of the aforementioned groups, even if they didnt grow up around here, know enough to actively avoid anyplace that uses the word Beantown. The food is typical utility bar food. The drinks are typical utility tourist bar drinks. The atmosphere is like what would happen if bickfords decided to open a bar. The doormen are usually gruff, the service is usually brusque. If youre thinking about going here, you should, instead, either be going to Faneuil Hall or The Alley if youre looking for a boisterous drinking crowd, the Marliave right next door if youre looking for a nice meal, or some place like Emmets, a short walk away on Beacon Hill if youre looking for a cozy downtown bar experience. Ive been dragged here a few times with groups of friends for no reason other than we were walking and decided that we wanted to stop for a drink; every single time weve walked out thinking: "Why didnt we just walk to a better place?"

Service was terrible here, after disappearing for a good 10 mins our waitress forgot our drink orders. She then delivered our food order (cheese fries) to the wrong table and delivered the food order from there (regular fries) to our table after another long wait. During the winter everytime the door opened all the tables in the front got a nice blast of cold air, making it quite freezing and unpleasant. Overall the a place looked nice, drink prices competitive to the area, pool tables in the back. Might give this place another shot.

Although the food was good service was not. We decided to get an early dinner. When walking in, we were immediately asked for our ID. Obviously okay we are willing to show our ID since it being a pub, however, being from out of town, my husband holds my ID. The gentleman at the door also requested something else to verify my name. My husband showed his credit card, I however, only had my ID. He made me walk all the way back to the hotel to retrieve an ID! I found this to be absurd and ridiculous. Definitely will not be returning.

After dropping over a hundred dollars on dinner we were quietly hanging out watching a hockey game. The waitress Sabrina made up some thinly veiled excuse to kick us out. Some BS about people waiting for our reserved table and we needed to move to the back room. It was pretty obvious she was just hoping to get new people in to make more tips. We left an hour later, and the mysterious waiting reserved people had still not shown. Also this place smells like frat house beer floor. This restaurant is tourist trap garbage.
