The signage and decor really emphasize the Irish theme, but the menu is only about one quarter Irish food. The rest of the menu is sea food and typical American fare. The pot roast dinner was only available on Wednesdays, so I had to settle for the pot roast sandwich instead. It was just beef between two slices of thin white bread. No other toppings, not even an onion, and only half a pickle on the side, no fries or potatoes. Although the beef was tender and tasted good it was plain and I wound up putting mustard on half of it. I wasnt satisfied with my sandwich. The peach sundae dessert was more enjoyable. It had plenty of sliced fresh peaches and vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry. Also came with a bonus ginger snap cookie on the side! Service was fine. Restaurant was moderately full for a Friday afternoon lunch. If you are driving by and hungry you might as well stop here but I wouldnt make a special trip for it.

I have never had a bad experience at the Shamrock Restaurant. Their food is always fresh, and I love the fact they have their own garden during the season which they use in their fresh salad bar. No other restaurant that I know of uses home grown vegetables. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Their desserts rock! (unfortunately I cant eat any of the desserts any more since I became allergic to wheat) A satisfied customer for 30+ years and their food is better than a lot of high end restaurants in the area. Only thing I would recommend for any restaurant in the area is to add more gluten free entrees (Simply Asia in Thurmont is very gluten free friendly).

Not impressed, my second and last trip to the "Sham": my eggplant lasagna was bland and over cooked. My wifes chicken salad was bland, my sons chicken and shrimp pesto dish was tasteless, it all tasted the same, my daughters inlaws $23 steak was unseasoned. The best recipient of the entire meal was my grandson whom had the "kids meal " fish plank, fries, string beans, tartar sauce ($4.50). I should have ordered from the same kids menu. Our waitress was great, prompt, and professional. Total bill of over 91 bucks, our dining party was very dissatisfied with the taste of our dishes, all except my grandson, his meal was good. Overpriced and overrated.

this was not a meat I would offer on a daily basis. Ruben sandwich was sliced deli style meat, too much kraut and unmelted cheese. yuck! and a plastic little cup of applesauce. who serves applesauce with a sandwich. not a side of fries, fresh fruit or other veggie. most clients are elderly but for us who can chew need updated selections. would never recommend this place due to selection on menu. very poor needs up dating or chef Ramse in the kitchen to help your cooks. desperate need of interior update this isnt the 40s any longer. drive past this place and try another place down the road.

Not a very pleasant experience getting a gift certificate from there...it was like a major inconvenience, if you dont want my money I can gladly go elsewhere to get one. Thought I would help out the "local" businesses instead of the chain restaurants but guess I was wrong. I have never eaten there but if this is how you are treated for a gift certificate I hate to see what the service is like....if you dont want to deal with the gift certificates, dont advertise it on your sign out front for all of the travelers on Rte15 to see.. Sorry to have bothered you today.

To begin positively, the wait staff is first-rate. Overall, however, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The menu is ridiculously overpriced: some of the items (like the salad bar) should be half of what they are charging. The food is decent but, again, you could get the same food elsewhere for significantly less. Worst of all: my Guinness tasted like it was from a bottle. If you have Irish Porter on your billboards, it had better be excellent draft.

Food was okay at best. Wait staff was terrible! Pushy, no refills, tried to take my plate before I was done. (keep in mind this was at a slow time of the day & birthday gathering). Had another guest coming all be it later; was told if they are not dining we can go to the bar. Pickings are slim in this area, I suggest continuing down to Fredrick. Save your money.

Stopped by at the recommendation of a friend. The BLT was stuffed and accompanied by a tart dill pickle. My wife had the Stuffed Pepper which wold be better described as overstuffed. The Cole Slaw has a unique tang and was filling. The Iced Tea was freshly brewed. The Chocolate Meringue pie came in a very generous portion. We will be back here again when in the area.

I ordered chicken salad on a croissant only to be served it on their homemade bread, which was tasteless. Then is was salty and I only ate half and brought other half home for my husband which also said it was salty. The place is way over rated and a bite pricey for what you get. The seafood chowder was good. Second time I was disappointed eating there, wont go back!

I have NEVER been disappointed in the quality of food or range of menu selections. The mussels are above par, the shad and roe such a treat! And of course the bread is always exceptional along with the service. We tried the brie and crab app, not our favorite, the fried pickles are! But I must agree the cost does deter me from returning more frequently.

Cool spot which has a lot of history. I like how the same family has owned it forever. The portions can run on the large side. There are lots of tchotchkes at the front if youre into random irish gifts. Ultimately the food is not special enough for me to make the trip out again. A cool spot though if youre in the neighborhood!

This place SUCKS. So the menu has no variety and so I go to get a typical burger. The burger comes out. Take one bite and it was a frozen burger from a grocery store. When I pay 10$ for a burger I expect there to be actual hamburger meat and not something they took out of a freezer. Overpriced. Place is creepy. DO NOT GO

I had the scallops and my better half had the prime rib. The scallops were cut into thin coins and were not what I expected. Taste was average at best. Prime rib was bland. The only thing that saved it was the fresh horseradish. Overall nothing special and very much over priced. Will not return.

We were traveling some backwoods on our way from Northern VA to Philly and ran across this place. We try to hit pubs when we can since Im Irish. This place was so cute! Loved all the Gaelic blessings around and the food was magnificent! Definitely stop here! Youll be glad you did.

Great customer service=the hostess using her phone app to identify the music playing. I was going to have a crabcake sandwich but didnt want a giant pickle for my side item. BBQ was good, pre-sauced sweet but not too messy, with fries and half a giant pickle as well.

Best oysters, best lamb shank, best service, best homemade applesauce with cranberries, best homemade breads and very good price. When you get a hot coffee refill, they dont just pour more coffee in the cup of WARM coffee...they bring you a whole new cup of HOT coffee,
