Not as impressive on the outside (its unobtrusively located in a shopping center), this restaurant aims to wow you with their food and earthy charm. They maintain a simple menu of American style foods ranging from sandwiches and burgers to fish and fries. Having eaten there several times despite living about an hour or more away, Ive had their Reuben, beer battered haddock, and burger, and all were prepared quite well. Their applesauce had a strong apple flavor to it, and all the food tasted quite fresh. The servers all possessed a warmth and charm one might expect from a favored aunt or uncle, happy to joke with you without getting in the way of your meal. The place also has a warm, if very simple, decor that reminds you of an older style restaurant. Its bright and cheery, but the older, simplistic style isnt really as much to my taste, and likely impacted my impression of it (although not the restaurant as a whole). Time your visit well, as this restaurant can get quite packed at peak hours, and seems to be a favorite among the older folks living in the area (who can be rather a hoot if you chance to chat with any of them).

The atmosphere was terrible, the place was so small, you had to maneuver around people as you entered the door. Me and my other party person ordered a Cheeseburger Deluxe, it took about 20 minutes for the food to get to our table, which is a little too much for 2 burgers. I took a bite out of the burger and thought "this tastes like old meat!" A few minutes after finishing the meal, my stomach started to hurt. I came home and immediately ran for the bathroom..diarrhea..ugh. The value of the food was the only somewhat good thing..a pretty large burger, fries and cole slaw for about 5 dollars..thats pretty decent.

Decided to try this restaurant because it was close by. The cheese steak deluxe was terrible. One steak um on a round hamburger bun. A philly cheese steak? Hardly. And sadly, it was dripping grease. The owner needs to Google "cheese steak". 1) it has more than 2 ounces of meat. 2) its on a long roll. 3) add cheese. 4) drain grease away from the meal. I cant believe anyone would write "best place to eat in Gettysburg". They must either never get to go out, or knows the owner.

My wife and I found Gettysburg Family Restaurant to be a very pleasant experience. Our waiter was really a nice,courteous and professional young man. The service and food was excellent, and served in a timely manner, at a reasonable price. Very expansive menu from which to choose. This restaurant is definitely a place we will continue to go whenever we visit Gettysburg. So happy we found this place and will not hesitate to recommend to others.

My fiancee and I go here consistantly and we love it! The staff and waitresses recognize your faces and are always nice. They arent on the Steinwehr Avenue tourist strip, so they have to be nice to keep their repeat customers, and they are. They are genuine and always pleasant! The food is delicious, and the funnel cake fries are INCREDIBLE!

Id give zero stars if possible. We were looking for somewhere to eat so we seen this place was open until 9 online and we wanted to try it. We drove over there just to find out that they werent open today but their page claimed to be open until 9 and we went over to get dinner around 6. What a poor quality restaurant.

We drive from Carlisle to dine at this restaurant. All the food is excellent especially the ribs! Never had ribs as good as the Gettysburg Family Restaurants. I tell everyone to eat there. Food is great, portions are great, prices are great and the servers are great!!! I highly recommend them!

Theres a stupid hidden glass slabbehind the glass door , not only did someone in my family run into this and get a broken nose but someone else in knew as well got a major knot on their head. The food was burnt and nasty as well. Sorry guys wish I didnt have to say that but I had say the truth

The breakfast food was great, however our waitress was rude. She never checked on us asking if we needwd anything. Her attitude was awful . The lady then just cleared our table. Went back talking and cleaning for over 10 min before giving us our check knowingly we were ready to leave.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night. It was a busy time and our wait was what you would expect. The food was very delicious and the prices were very reasonable. We will be recommending this place and visiting again before we go back home.

Awesome food, great prices, fast friendly service, and good Ole fashioned food, lots of selection, we had the Philly cheese steak/mac and cheese/broccoli salad/Gettysburg combo club, it was very good and would recommend anyone to go there

Watched waitress drop food and put it back on plate. Not cool. Watched cooks playing with their ears while preparing food. I like the food, have been here often. Now Im not sure what Im getting with my food that I dont know about.

Quality and cheap rarely come in the same sentence but here is one place you can still find it. Fast courteous staff with a good mix of locals and tourists. The price makes you wonder if its worth buying groceries and cooking.

French toast was amazing! I thought the wait was a little longer than usually but, at the same time it was a pretty good crowd of people eating as well so it was all good. Once I got my food the waiting part was forgotten

Their breakfast potatoes tasted like cardboard...worse yet; waiting 25 minutes for some home fries, 3 sausage links, and an english muffin? Ridiculous. I dont care how busy- thats unacceptable. I wont be returning.

My reuben was good, not exceptional, but I liked it. The fries are frozen, not fresh cut, but still tasty. My boyfriend had the spicy burger (I forget the name) and he loved it. Good service, nice atmosphere.

Ive eaten here many times in the past and the food is great. Unlike fast food the food here at the Gettysburg Family Restaurant is home style with the same great taste and quality like you would make at home.

Great fries and gravy. The Greek omelets with added American cheese are out of this world. Kudos to the waitresses who always go out of their way to be helpful. Always good food especially their spaghetti.

Wonderful food and great service at a great price. Highly recommended the wings and broasted chicken. Flat iron steak tender and crab cake very good. Salad was fresh and green beans home cooked style.

I didnt eat there. Went in for a take out order at 11:30 for Pancakes and bacon.... They will make breakfast food after 11 but it has to be eggs! Bo! Diners should serve breakfast all day!

Just walked out and will never go back! Watched two tables get waited on that came in after us and no one bothered to wait on our table or even acknowledge us. Go elsewhere is my opinion.
