We had been walking and sightseeing all day. We were hungry, thirsty and exhausted. The day before (Sunday) around 8pm, we had attempted to get in for dinner and it was a half hour wait so we went somewhere else. This time, (Monday) at 6pm they werent packed and were seated within minutes. The slight smoky aroma was nice and promising. Ahhh! Mmmm! The smoky scent not near as heavy as most smokhouses tend to be. (Should have taken it as a clue.) Our waiter(s) was/were slow and didnt really listen to any one at the tables order. Got our order wrong and never brought lemon for the water even though we asked twice about it. Claimed he was coming back to fill our water, which was empty, but he only came back to ask if we wanted more from the bar. Uncomfortably, the waiter remarked to one in my party to "step out of" her "comfort zone" and try the steak salad. That seemed a snide remark to one who was only slightly overweight, at best, and she took a bit of offense to such a presumptive and biting remark. (Not that had she been morbidly obese would it have been an appropriate or kind thing to say anyway) Had we not been so stinkin hungry and tired wed have left right then. She tried to ignore it and play it off as the waiters epic failure in an attempt at humor... but she was clearly rattled by it. I was horrified for her. I could see, at that moment, any attempt to make an issue of it on her behalf would have made it worse and probably brought her to tears. So, we pretended we didnt hear it. The Crab Cake patty was much smaller than the overly greasy bun it was presented on... disappointing. The old bay fries that came with it were tasty though, nice and crisp. Still not hardly worth the 18 bucks they were asking for it. The burgers were a better size in accordance with the bun. No special impression was made with either burger order. Both were the Smokehouse Burger. All three meals sadly lacked little, if ANY infused smokey flavors other than from the BBQ sauce they put on the bugers. Waiter filled glasses of water once and never returned... they remained empty throughout most of the meal, but our waiter was more than hot to offer more bar service and to present the check... even picked up the tip before we were even close to leaving the table. Ugh! Bad form! Our party was so hungry and so tired... we were just in no shape to enter into protest about it all. One of us left half the meal on the plate. (Guess who?) We just paid and left mifted and disappointed. While sitting and watching plates go by to other tables, the half chicken looked to be the plate to have ordered there. Looked delicious. But I will probably never find out. Experience was too poor and food too blah to tempt another visit from any of us. Were it not for its location, I would have bet anyone they would be out of business in a month, if what we experienced is the norm... but enough tourists are in that area who will wander in without a clue to keep them humming in spite of it. Id like to think that yummy-looking smoked half chicken that crossed my field of vision, repeatedly in, seemingly, bustling waiters hands lived up to something more than the underwhelming sandwiches and service we were less than blessed or impressed to have recieved.

Worst experience with a restaurant in my life. I went to Redstone in National Harbor Sunday November the 8th around 3 pm with my wife, my brother and his girlfriend. We came to the front desk where a Hostess greeted us, and told us that there was a 10 minutes wait. There were a lot of open tables all around the restaurant so I asked in a really polite way, why? she told me that there were not enough servers. It was a good explanation, so we told her that we were willing to wait for the next available table. She asked us if we had a preference where we wanted to seat. I told her that we didnt and that we will take the next available table. A party of 4 arrived to the restaurant just after we told the hostess that we will take the next available table. The only visible differences between them and us were: 1. They looked around 40 years old, and we look between 25 to 30 years old. 2. They were speaking English between themselves, and we were speaking in Spanish between ourselves. After 10 minutes the hostess answered her phone. It was obvious that the call was from somebody inside the restaurant, because she was not following any greeting procedure. Also it was obvious that she was receiving orders from somebody, I presume a manager because all she was doing was nodding and agreeing. Right after she hang up the phone she took 4 menus and asked the people that arrived after us to follow her. This is the moment that I have felt more discriminated in my entire life. I went to the hostess really mad to ask for an explanation. She answered in a really rude way, that she was going to seat us on one of the tables that was open and empty from the beginning. I told her that I was not asking for a table anymore, instead I was asking for an explanation. Another woman (I presume the manager that gave her the order over the phone) came in the middle of the discussion in a really loud manner asking what was going on, the hostess explained the manager the situation, and the manager told the hostess, in front of us ,in a really disparagingly way "seat them somewhere else". The hostess came to us and asked: "Are you going to take the table or not?". Obviously we didnt take it, and left the restaurant right away. All we were expecting from the hostess or the manager was an explanation or maybe an apology, We didnt get it. Instead we got a discriminatory treatment, maybe because we are young or maybe because we are Hispanic. I felt really humiliated and I will never go back to this place.

I stopped at this restaurant with a couple old friends looking to catch up over some red vine and steaks Saturday night. However the negligent negative attitude from the bartender to be complete with an argumentative reactive general manager by the name of Darrell Carpenter has left me no choice but to publicly share my experience. After 10-15 minutes of sitting at the bar and having made eye contact with the bar tender 3 times I was sure to get a hello let along a menu, glass of water or possibly offered a drink... A fews more minutes goes by and finally the bartender glances over at our party of 3 and says "Ill be with you soon." Frustrated, hungry and now impatient, the bartender finally makes his way back to our party and offers us a drink. We order a bottle of wine and 2 appetizers immediately. The bartender prepares the wine and pours us glasses, only to come back 10 minutes later and ask us what appetizers we ordered again. At this point Im just looking to inform a manager that my party and I are looking to departure due to lack of acknowledgement , negligence, and poor communication. I asked the bartender Im I could speak to a manager. The bartender gives me a look as if I just committed a terrible crime. He then looks over to the two managers standing talking side by side next to eight employees and yells "MANAGER!" All the employees turn to look at our party with the most utterly bitter disgusted look on there face. The GM Darrell Carpenter comes over furious as if he is looking for a bar fight to unravel. I immediately sensed the supervisors mentality and look to defuse and calm his actions by first mentioning that Im not going to bash him and his restaurant on yelp or google, I simply want him to understand why we are departing. He did not want to hear any of it. Darrell was more interested in arguing. I mentioned to Darrell as a supervisor you should find a resolution to the problem instead of intensifying the situation. He then says "I find a solution, and whatd you say again?" I told Mr. Darrell Im not looking to argue with him in his restaurant. Going back and forth a couple times I then realized that I will have to share my experience publicly to allow future employees and future customer to better understand the hostile environment the staff and management sets here at this establishment. The harbor is filled with many great restaurants, do yourself, friends, and family a favor and eat at a more reputable restaurant. Regards
