If I could give zero stars, I would. My wife and I had been regular customers of New York Deli for several years, minus a few incidents that made us take a step back and re-think. The food was usually decent, especially the club sandwiches. However, we first stopped ordering from them about a year ago after an incident where the delivery driver spit in my wifes soda. We called the restaurant to complain, and the owner was extremely apologetic, promised that the driver would be fired, etc. etc. We didnt order from them for a while after that, however, having been (I think understandably) very upset by the incident. The second time we stopped ordering from them was because we found several hairs in with the chips that are included with every sandwich. When we called, the manager/owner refused to refund us for the sandwich because the hair "was in the chips, so the sandwich is fine." Oooookay. Then, today, we placed an order from them (having only begun ordering from them again recently). Our food had all been placed in a cardboard box - boxes with sandwiches and sides, two fountain sodas, and straws. When I unpacked the box, I discovered a large (about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide) bug - either a beetle of some kind or a cockroach. We immediately called the third-party ordering service we use (GrubHub) to complain. GrubHub called New York Deli to request a full refund, and the owner very grudgingly refunded the cost of our sandwiches and sides, but would not refund us for the drinks, delivery fee, or tip because "everything was clean, its safe" etc. She also, according to the rep at GrubHub, refused to take delivery orders from myself and my wife any longer, apparently because we have called them out numerous times on these type of violations that could easily get them shut down. I highly warn anyone against patronizing them - the food is decent, but not worth the potential ick of having hair or a bug in with your food, nor having a manager/owner refuse to serve you because you have pointed out these problems.

I work for United States Department of Agriculture and we usually patronize New York Deli. As of today that ends. A coworker warned us that they scratch their receipts and increase the price of the food by writing a new number, however we continued to order food. Today, I noticed that the price of the food was increased from 12 dollars to 14, I asked the driver why was the original price scratched out and a new price put in place. He stated that the written price is the deliver fee. I stated that a worker had mentioned that this very deal has happened to them, and I told him that it is unprofessional and that I would be calling his manager. He then calls his manager from his cell phone and shoves it in my face. I told her my problem, and she stated that she scratched out the number to include the deliver fee. I told her if that is the case then I apologize, however I find it unprofessional that the receipt is scratched out. She hangs up the phone, and the driver starts to yell at me. He says that the reason they have to scratch out and include tip is because we are cheap. Completely stunned, I say "Im cheap?" and he continues to call myself and the building cheap and tell us that he has to pay for gas on his own. Throughout the lashing he continues to call me "little girl" (I am 25 years old). I told him that I am not going to argue with him, but instead I will write a dissatisfaction review. He says "whatever" and waves me off. At that point the security guard asks me what is going on, and he walks out of the building. The security guard at my place of employment heard the driver yelling at me and came out to intervene. After such an experience, I will NEVER give this place of business my money and I will advise the building and friends to do the same.

On 1/16/2012 I placed an online order for delivery. The delivery driver arrived within 45 minutes but did not have all of the items I orderd. I paid in cash and the driver was long gone once I opened the bag. I called New York Deli and let them know, they apologized and promised to send the delivery driver out with the rest of my order. An hour later, I called back to check the status - no answer. I was then forwarded to voicemail again and again. They never answered my call, never called back, and never delivered the rest of my order. Luckily Eat24Hours was amazing and gave me a credit for the missing items. But, I will never order from New York Deli again. Not trustworthy and obviously does not have good business practices. They could have easily apologized and gave another option to correct it, but to promise re-delivery and not to come, and then ignore my calls - I will NEVER do business with them again.

DRIVER SPITS IN YOUR FOOD! Most of the ppl who work at NYD are very nice and Ive ordered from them for years with no problem but they have one new driver who hopefully will not be working for them any longer. If a goth girl named Rachel delivers your food I highly suggest you dont eat it. She spat in my drink today and though the owner apologized and refunded and promised she was going to be fired I thought people ought to know, just in case the girl is allowed to keep her job and tries doing this to someone else. Apparently expecting a delivery person to get out of their car and come to the door is being a horrible enough customer to warrant such a disgusting act. Luckily I suspected from her attitude and the fact that my soda lid was partially off and checked before I took a drink or a bite. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Four stars (satisfactory) for the cheese and pepperoni pizza. Zero stars for "ambiance." I waited in the car while my friend went in to order and wait for the take-out pizza. I could see that there were numerous, noisy children in the establishment, which he mentioned upon returning with the pizza. There was even a crying child outside near the vehicle who wanted his mommy, and the father was trying to get him to go in. I was a little surprised to see the "demographics" of the customers considering this is rather an upscale area of College Park. This probably only bothers a minority of people, but I will not return to New York deli again. Its more the ambiance of what Ive heard Chuckie Cheese is about--tailored for children.

listen i tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. but nope this place is the most dirtiest place every, i always order the turkey club, i would usually get mayo on the sandwich but after tasting the sandwich the mayo had a expired date taste. next time i order i tried mustard it was horrible. i wouldnt recommend no one to eat from this place. floors are nasty and dirty like they havent been wash or cleaned for 6 months, & the lady that answers the phone have a very nasty attitude. the food isnt freshly cooked the lettuce they put on my sandwich was old and so was the bacon too.. i am also thinking about getting in contact with FDA because the food always give me a sick feeling..
