I used to occasionally visit this restaurant on my lunch break when I worked in Bethesda almost 10 years ago and remember the food being pretty decent considering the price and the other options in that price range in Bethesda at the time. After leaving the trader joes down the street today, I decided to drop in to purchase some frozen strombolis to go. While satisfied with my order, I was less than pleased with the level of service that I received. The girl behind the counter let out an audibly exasperated sigh when I wanted to add an additional frozen stromboli to my order--even though there wasnt anyone behind me in line and the restaurant was practically empty. I suppose it was way too much to ask her to make the 12 round trip to and from the freezer again... to make matters worse, she asked me anything else with an obnoxious undertone in her voice upon her return from the second trip. I was very polite to her the whole time despite her surly attitude so I dont know why she was so annoyed about having to grab an additional item but I likely wont return---EVER. Who gets upset when a customer wants to spend more money?? The food is comparable to other cheap italian places in the area and those places have much better customer service. You would think that an independent restaurant such as Stromboli would teach their staff to be more appreciative of their customers as many of the small, independently owned restaurants around them are forced to close their doors due to the current state of the economy... But if youre cool with high-school age waitresses being rude to you then knock yourself out if youre in the area---the strombolis are good but I wouldnt go out of my way...

Best pizza and stromboli in D.C. beyond a doubt! This place is truly a quiet part of D.C. history nestled into the contemporary bustle of Wisconsin Avenue. From hearty Italian dishes to home brewed Flying Dog, the selection and service here are unparalleled in quality. While you are warmly filled up by the absolutely indulgent but oh so delicious pizza and/or stromboli, you can picture through the summer haze the Kennedys popping into the bye-gone shoe shop across the street for their daughters ballet shoes! Now its the Marin-Price Galleries...but although many changes happen in 50+ years, some great things stay the same. A unique, classic dining experience to say the least! Go the extra mile to visit!

I live in Florida and for the last 2 months, every week I come up to work at Walter Reed Medical Center. Ever since I found this place 6 weeks ago, I eat dinner there. I have had something different each week to eat. I have not found anything that is not excellent. I even go in on Thursday nights to take frozen Stromboli home for dinner for the family Friday nights. I highly recommend it

The original Stromboli is the best Stromboli in town. The pizza is probably the best in Bethesda, recently passing Victors which has declined in quality in the past few months. Service is fine for the type of restaurant it is, this isnt a fine dining establishment so dont expect a professional wait staff. Bottom line: I love Strombolis.

I read many of the reviews and I wonder why some are not as good as they should be. I ordered the stromboli, I thought it was pretty good. The service is okay, it wasnt bad. The restaurant is a little out dated, its old. But my stromboli was good and I was happy that I came in here.

Food is decent, not great, prices are ok, but service is TERRIBLE. They usually have one guy working the whole restaurant. If youre going to eat here, I highly recommend getting takeout instead of sitting down.
