I worked here as a part time line cook while working as a line cook next door at Olive Garden as well, so i was in a precarious position in which I could contrast the differences and similarities of how two different corporate kitchens are run. Let me first say every facet of Ruby Tuesdays business is trumped by Olive Garden. Not only is the kitchen in Ruby Tuesdays easily inferior to their corporate neighbor but without exaggeration I can say virtually everything else about their restaurant is as well. To start with theres no standard of food what so ever. I can say this quite literally because in my entire time spent there, I can honestly say I never once heard anyone express any sentiment regarding the quality of food. Countless times Ive seen cooks, servers, and managers all send out food that wasnt worthy of the dollar amount attached to it. A part of the reason this problem exists is because there is no accountability within the kitchen. This is because there is no culinary management, all the acting managers work specialize in the front of the house and seem to have no idea how it is their kitchen really works. In fact the line cook who trained me (also a manager in training) used numerous short cuts that effect the end goal of customer satisfaction just to whittle down his share of the labor. This training included habitually making dishes with missing ingredients as well and sending out food that was over or under cooked only willing to recook it if they complained. Furthermore the entire management within the restaurant is fraternized. There exists virtually no professional boundaries. Fraternization is more detrimental than it may seem because it allows unconducive behaviors to continue without any serious fear of discipline; the cushion of friendship affords one a certain job security regardless of their job performance. In fact fraternization is probably the biggest problem Ruby Tuesday has because it has allowed the general manager to create a social network which has the primary function to glorify her own status and the secondary function of working within the store. There are many employees here who are happy within their work environment and enjoy their co-workers, however the continued emphasis on camaraderie instead of professionalism is exactly what makes management as well as employees oblivious to the numerous errors of how their business is ran. This fraternity is invested so much within itself to the put of blindness. This emphasis on fraternity also encourages management to utilize favoritism towards anyone who doesnt fit comfortably within this profile. Most of OGs workplace procedures are more effective and practical than the procedures that rival RT. For instance RT does virtually nothing to guard against cross contamination. The established standard is that line cooks grab raw chicken with their gloved hand, as well as raw beef/turkey/and salmon. Often times (especially during rush) line cooks will grab raw meat and immediately move on to the next task. Additionally the expiration on many products go unchecked and are used regardless of labeled date. For Front of the House employees there is no daily communication among servers or staff about weekly goals or concerns. There is no strive for improvement whatsoever, this allows incompetent performance to go continuously unchecked. The continuous strive for improvement is the most divisible factor between OG and RT. Olive Garden seems to pride itself in the continuous attempt to do better. This is most likely due to the framework setup by Darden but regardless it makes a visible difference in overall performance both in the kitchen and the front of the house. It makes employees continuously more conscious of the weight of their own actions and produces a better business, something Ruby Tuesdays lacks.

It is Friday night at 5:30 p.m. My husband and I decided to eat at Ruby Tuesdays. We placed our orders and we ordered the Salad Bar as part of the meal. The salad bar hardly had any salad on it. Ever bowl of greens was empty. The only bowls that were filled were those that had premade salads in them (APPLE, & BROCCOLI). I told the waitress about the salad bar and she was going to check on it. Next I get informed that they were out of Baked Potatoes, are you kidding me on a Friday night. So she tells me I can pick another side so she names them, I said I will replace the baked potato with Asparagus she said good and walked away. She asked if we wanted biscuits and I said sure. Well she brings out these 2 little biscuits. Then our food comes and that was good. She asked if we wanted more biscuits, I said yes again and here she comes out with 2 biscuits again. Well I guess it was the manager that came around and we spoke with her and she gave us free desserts for our troubles. Well we then request the check. On the check I was charged an extra $1.49 for the Asparagus, I mean you were out of the vegetable I chose and then you charge me $1.49 because this is a specialty vegetable. I just couldn’t believe it. Hate to say it but we won’t be going back to Elkton Ruby Tuesdays again for a meal.

I really hate to give a bad review but my experience tonight was inexcusable. I usually sit at the bar so I get first hand service and never a problem , but tonight I sat in the dining room . Typhoon shrimp was completely overcooked and shameful to present with horrible taste ! Sent back. Philly potstickers very similar but not quite as bad . Waitress was overloaded cause they cut a staff member to soon . And her efficency was very lacking never got my mixed drink and had to ask to have removed from bill . Bill had 3 errors . Asked for extra bbq sauce never got that . Then let me leave without my to go dessert . Had to come back for that . But the most unsettling thing was the disgusting filthy mens bathroom ! The odor extended into the dining area , and the urinal was out of order . So that completely failed me tonight . And I really like this place cause its close to my home . And they send coupons . They need to do better

Our server was John he had a female trainee... He wasnt overly friendly & warm. In fact, he seemed rather disinterested in us & our order. I requested fresh, hot coffee w/ extra half & half. I get 3 little creamers????? I then requested additional creamers... after waiting a fair amount of time, the servers trainee brings out a cup of white liquid stating they ran out of creamer cups...I poured it in my coffee & asked if it was half & half? The server said no, it was skim milk. WT_ ????? Thats NOT WHAT I REQUESTED!!!!! Then John the server asks if theres anything else. I Id like to drink. I said no. 5 minutpes later, miraculously, theres another cup of coffee (not hot) w/ extra 1/2 & 1/2. My soup? Lukewarm & salty. My minis? Dry & overcooked. All in all NOT a good experience!!!I also asked for no mayo on my minis...guess what I got??? Yup!!! Mayo...yuk

I work here and have been for about 6 months I want to say now? And I honestly love Ruby Tuesdays here in Elkton, MD. Im not just saying this cause I think my boss will see it and give me a raise or something, I think Ruby Tuesday of Elkton offers a great variety of delicious meals, and drinks, and desserts. I have yet to try one thing I didnt like to eat from here, its great tasting, fairly priced, and the staff is great, everyone from the managers, hostesses, waiters/waitresses,bussers and the culinary staff. Everyone is nice, friendly, and like a family to provide for our guests an expierence at one of the best places you can eat here in Elkton.
