Discrimination? Im not one to complain; never do, in fact. This is the first time I have reviewed anything online. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but my awful experience about 30 minutes ago at Gringada was undoubtedly intentional. Showed up around 1 with my girlfriend for lunch, we are new to the area and wanted to try something new. Showed up and the place seemed nice. Got water, ordered food, ate chips, and eventually the food showed up. Thought it was strange that the waitress asked if everything was good before we ate, but didnt think anything of it.According to the menu, my order was a $13.00 plate of chicken with sauce and onions and white rice along with a salad, sounded delicious. First thing I noticed was a produce sticker on the peeled avocado (should have come off with the skin, somehow found its way back). Again, thought nothing of it until I noticed there was no dressing to be found anywhere. I ate a little rabbit food before trying the chicken, which was not bad, but did not come with cheese (which I asked for) or rice (which I thought maybe I misread until I checked as I was leaving). My girlfriends food was ok, "bland" in her opinion, but edible. While we ate, we (still having our jackets on) noticed that our feet and our food were getting cold quickly, becoming more uncomfortable as time passed. Drinks empty and unable to stomach any more, We waited for the check until we couldnt stay any longer, and walked up to the register, where we (her only table) interrupted the waitresss 20 minute conversation with someone. We did get a "Thank you" as we left. I can not imagine that we did anything to upset the staff of Gringada, but maybe the slur in their name has something to do with their service. We are a young (early 20s) white couple, kept to ourselves, and werent dressed or acting in any way that would warrant disrespect. I hope this was a one-time event and your experience at this restaurant is as great as others claim. If not, please share your experience so others dont have to until they improve their service. I cant imagine ever returning, but I hope things would be better if we ever were to. Thanks for reading and good luck

I went there for lunch on Christmas Eve. I was, unsurprisingly, their only customer. The service was slow to bring out chips or take my drink order. I gave her the drink order and the food order (taco and 2 tamales.) I love tamales and have unsuccessfully searched the area for good tamales. After a while the waitress brought out my food, and asked me if everything was OK. I mentioned my drink. She had forgotten. Since everything was made to order, I didnt mind the wait, I would have liked to have my drink while waiting. The taco was the size of a Taco Bell taco. The shell seemed like it was out of a box. It was OK The tamales were large, but didnt look like they had been steamed in corn husks. (Perhaps, that is a regional technique.) The filling was chicken (I was not given a choice) It was a bit dry, but there was a sauce I could use. Ive had tamales in San Antonio and even in the Dallas airport that were better. The drink cost $2.50 and the server didnt check if I needed a refill. I really dont understand why the service was not more attentive since there was no one else in the dining room. It wasnt a horrible meal, but I wouldnt recommend the restaurant for lunch.

This is the only restaurant Ive ever been to that has horchata, and its amazing. Too bad they water it down with a full glass of ice... I got steak and eggs for my entree, and both the steak and the eggs were overcooked. The steak was also full of gristle. Half the stuff on the menu was crossed off, including all but one of the desserts. When I ordered that dessert, they didnt have it either. The place is sort of run-down, not very clean, and they blasted spanish music. Only one guy in the restaurant spoke english, I think he was the owner. I mean in the whole restaurant, the only other customers were spanish speaking themselves, or they were deaf and used sign language. This place is a total dive, and I would totally go there again if I were alone. The atmosphere is genuine, and even though its by all means a bad restaurant, it feels so full of heart that I dont really care, myself.

Food was decent. Nothing super impressive, but the prices were cheap so I didnt mind too much. However, the service was the slowest Ive ever had. I went on a Tuesday night at 7:30, and only two other tables were there, but the waitress still managed to take forever with our drink order and completely forget our order of guacamole. When we were finished, they didnt tell us to check out at the front, so we were sitting there for ten minutes waiting for the check before we lost patience and went up to the counter to pay. The atmosphere was very dark and old looking, which isnt something I generally complain about, but it just compounded my discomfort. My paper placemat even had dried sauce on it, showing that they didnt care to clean the table. Two stars only because we got a good amount of food for the price, but I wont be coming back.

Ive been coming here for the last two years with my now fiance, and never left unsatisfied. The drinks are cheap and good, the chips and salsa alone are worth coming for, the staff is friendly, and the dishes are more authentic than your average Mexican place. Try the Tacos Mexicanos with steak, a margarita on the rocks and some chips and salsa and you will be extremely satisfied. Sit outside at the new patio, then sit at the bar afterwards and maybe Freddy will take you dancing! I think B&B below need give it another try, and lose the racist undertones.

Used to be great. Now, half the menu is no longer available. No new menus printed, they just used sharpies to cross out half the stuff in the menu. New owner spent money putting in new bar, flat screens, pool table, but the cook made our meals 1 by 1. Took over an hour to get all our meals. Never got chips. Chili con queso no longer on the menu... Oh, and No Latinos present except for the staff, full of trailer trash in tank tops and jorts. Food was good but absurdly slow Margarita was great. Prolly wont go back for a few months.

Worst place ever. Went in at 9:30 for dinner, they began closing the restaurant while my husband and I were still eating and were watching us eat causing us to feel extremely uncomfortable, our waitress was terrible, she was more concerned about doing her makeup and counting her tips then making sure we were taken care of. I was even called some nasty names by the manager in Spanish with her assuming I didnt understand, i will NEVER return here and definitely dont recommend it to anyone else.

Diamond in the rough that doesnt disappoint. The food here is great, portions are big, prices are low, atmosphere is casual. This is one of those places that my wife and I drove by 100 times on our way to places like Chipotle and finally decided to stop in. We were pretty mad that wed waited so long to try it out and will definitely be visiting again.
