Possibly the worst service experience Ive ever had. Four of us walked in to a nearly empty bar; when our four beers arrived, two were served and then the waitress dropped the other two right into our laps. "Oh, Ill get you new beers and take them off the tab.". What about the other two people now wearing beer-soaked clothes on a cold November night? We were determined to grin and bear it, but things only got worse. Our waitress didnt tell us some key menu items (Bangers and Mash, pretty basic for an Irish pub!) were out of stock until the second we placed our order, and then didnt understand we needed to find something else; she was back at the table every single minute to ask "are you ready yet?" We finally placed a new round of orders and it took her five trips back to the table to clarify "Did you want the sandwich or the entree?", "What side did you want?", etc. We had no confidence whatsoever that she understood our order. By her fifth question back to the table, we decided to cancel our order and leave; when we informed the waitress of this, she sent over the manager. Well, maybe. She sent over an older gentleman who never introduced himself, was in no way apologetic, and seemed more interested in finding out if we had caused her to spill the drinks than finding out how to make the situation better. We explained what happened, gathered our things and left four unfinished beers on the table. Go to Galway Bay. No, its not on Main Street, but its worth the three minute walk, even when youre soaked in beer.

This was byfar the worst experience at a restaurant. I stepped into this restaurant today on a Saturday and it was not busy at all. My boyfriend is black and I am white. We walked up to the bar, asked to see the menu, then decided to stay. All the seats were available so we took one. We sat there for about 15-20 minutes watching two waiters walk to and from tables. Then, my boyfriend tried to flag one down after 15 minutes of no water, no services, nothing...and the waiter looked right at him and clearly ignored him. I was ready to leave. My boyfriend was more than patient with them. I would not recommend this place. It was cold, dark, and the staff was not friendly at all. WE GOT NO SERVICE. I am not one to throw the race card, but Im going to assume that we got no service because he is black and I am white. This place should be shut down! It is 2014!!!!

Ive found Castlebay to be the best place to meet the people that make Annapolis happen. Local business people, government workers, musicians, and just plain genuine folk show up here consistently. Tourists are drawn in and stay for a meal by the friendly atmosphere, the experienced chef and the best selection of draft beers in town. Expect to get engaged in a conversation and learn about the community if you sit at the bar. Expect few interruptions if you and a friend want to eat and talk at a table. Ive seen more employers interviewing prospects in Castlebay than in any other place in town, there must be a good reason. Live music many nights keep this Main Street attraction hopping until late.

I went and had a few drinks and I believe I was charged for more drinks than I should have been. I went back the next day and asked for a copy of the receipt and was not able to see it because the owner has to get a hold of a computer guy to get it. I still have not been able to see the receipt two weeks later. Not very helpful service. Not only that, I was charged a $20 tip that I did not sign for. Ive heard of other people being charged for more than they had at this restaurant before, so I would suggest not going here. Go get your Irish experience at Galway Bay.

I lived in Annapolis for about 6 months, and at least a day every week I used to order a half pound burguer, of course depend how you eat them, they cook it perfectly to medium well, and the pattie its hand made and a distinctive taste, the barbecue sauce makes your mouth drool and the beers are so nicely cold. Its not cheap and either expensive but its definetly worth it to go there over and over and try new stuff, they are always good. You cant ask for more on a summer day but to be here and have an awesome time.

Usually I like this place because it is easy to get in but the food was beyond terrible. We ordered a chicken sandwich and one of my favorites, fish and chips and I received 2 pieces of fish the size of a kids serving that were over done and dry with undercooked potato fries. The chicken sandwich was about tolerable...I will never eat there again. Ill go to Fados instead where I know I can get a good meal and a good lager.

I like the karaoke, although the sound system is mono and the audience can only hear half the sound. The food is pretty good. The smell is horrible. Why would a pub clean with pinesol during peak hours? I cant deal with that. I wouldve told them in a private forum but their website us down and their suggestion box us down.

i liked this bar, i would definitely come back. waitress was very attentive, and it did not take a long time to get drinks from the bar even when it was crowded. Not many seats, but it is a small place. Drinks are good and cheap and I really enjoyed the live band. Cool place!

Really cool place. Staff is awesome and the beer is great. Youll enjoy the history of this place with police, fire department and military patches adorning the huge selection of bottles. We had the crab dip and the food is on point.

Great time tonight! Live music, and friendliest bar staff! Brad and Nikki were Killin it. Super busy and they took care of everyone. Customer service skills for days. No reason this castle shouldnt have 5 stars.

Visited after a 64 mile bike ride (cycling). Had the miniball crab cakes and the Dublin Pot Roast, both were great. The service was great also. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for genuine Irish Pub grub.

Small beer selection for an Irish Pub. Live music was entirely too loud. Bartender seemed as though he had no idea what he was doing and was more interested in conversing about hockey that doing his job.

Great pub atmosphere, but the music is a little sporadic. Bartenders were super friendly, happy hour prices are great, and the beer selection is awesome.

had lunch with my family. The food was delicious and the waiter was right on point. My only wish is that the appetizer had been served before the food.

Went in for happy hour. The place is a traditional Irish pub that locals seem to frequent for happy hour. The menu was traditional pub fare

Pretty grungy "Irish" pub. Seemed very popular, though. Rough around the edges would be one way to describe it.

Nice Irish bar. Old wood, Irish bar tenders. Good selection of beers. Not a huge bar but big enough.

My go to spot for years for Smithwicks and pub fare. Ask for the Hot Coffee shot if they still make em
