I have had many different sushi experiences at various places. This place though has got to be one of the worst. Today my wife and I went for lunch. We werent sure if they were open inside since it took a few minutes before the hostess even greeted us. We sat at the sushi bar where there were no sushi chefs until after we ordered. When the sushi chefs were with us, they seemed more interested in the sports on TV than on us or our sushi they were making. We ordered a few rolls, one being a $13 red dragon roll. Once the sushi chefs had made it, they disappeared again and we were left to eat. The red dragon roll, defined on their menu had soft shell crap tempura style in the middle. When we tried it, it seemed more like a sushi roll with an over fried french fry than anything else. We complained to our waitress and she spoke to the sushi chef whom agreed that the tempura soft shell crab was not quality. He than stated it would be half off. We were still not happy, as for a $13 sushi roll, it should be pretty darn good as well as the fact that we only could eat a few of them since it was so bad. From there, I expressed my concerns further to the waitress. I explained that we don’t want to pay half off because it was disgusting. She still did not seem to understand. From there, I asked if the owner was in, and she said not this day. I explained that I was going to write a review explaining how much of a terrible time we had at our lunch. From there she just responded like a robot with ok. When we finally did pay, they didn’t take the 50% off correctly and had to adjust the receipt. Another previous visit we had the Hibachi, the ventilation ducts we not working and the smoke had everybody at our whole table coughing. Nothing was done during our whole dinner. All in all, there are much better places in the area than this, eater beware.

I dont know. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I found the entire experience to be below average. We had just finished moving our son into his new dorm at CNU, and he wanted to take us out to dinner. He had been to the place once before, so he thought wed like it. We werent necessarily dressed up, but we didnt look homeless either. But I got some bad vibes from the hostess was we were greeted. We asked of a Hibachi table, but they said they were all booked up and it was a two hour wait. Since we were dressed down a bit, we chose an out of the way table in the bar area. Interestingly, there appeared to be lots of open slots at the Hibachis tables from where I was sitting. We were promptly seated and greeted, but from then on it was a downhill experience. The bar staff was apparently responsible for taking care of us, but it was Saturday night and there were some hotties at the bar who seemed to be holding the bulk of his attention. They werent overly busy. Id say perhaps at 40% capacity in that area, so it wasnt like the guy was pushed beyond his limits. He finally came around and took our orders in what seemed to be a hurried fashion. he seemed somewhat put off by our asking questions about a couple of items on the menu. Im sorry, but I dont have a broad and vast knowledge of Japanese cuisine, so I had a few Qs. After our orders were taken, we were essentially ignored until the food was brought out. That took about 40 minutes, which is a bit more time than it probably should have taken. The food was prepared well but the presentation was perhaps a bit lacking. After being served, we were once again pretty much ignored until well after wed finished our meal. Ive never been so glad to see a check arrive in my life. Glad it was over and I dont expect to be going back.

Ive had two neutral and one poor experience here. The last time I went, first they refused to cook Hibachi for a friend and I because we were sharing a meal. Okay, not enough people to make it worth it I guess. So we sat down. The waiter was pretty rude from the get-go. He asked us about drinks, and when my friend didnt answer within 2 seconds he snobbily said, Ill just bring you water (no exaggeration on the 2 seconds). I asked the price of a mixed drink, and he said "I dont know those off the top of my head" and didnt find out for us. My drink took a long time to come, because, by his explanation, they keep Red Bull locked in the office because employees were taking it. I dont doubt that, because I got a small cold shot of Jager and a hot glass of Red Bull-yuck! We split a $23 meal, but when we got the food literally laughed at how little food there was. We actually split the decorative carrots because there was not enough food (5 slices of chicken, 4 scallops, about a cup of veggies, and decorative carrots). In our Spider Roll, the crab was freezing cold (in a hard, bland way), and in our California Roll, the avocado was unripe and hard. I also found a hair and bits of avocado skin our rolls. It was such a poor experience that we left laughing that we shouldve spent half the money and gotten a better meal at Sushi King.

i can tell you as a former worker there, hayashi is plain and simple, americanized japanese food. the sushi is fresh, and the three for 35 sushi is delicious. it comes with a soup and salad and the sushi is large and has lots of fresh fish! its enough to get two people full and happy so its not too bad in terms of value, especially for dinner. i wouldnt recommend getting the appetizers, especially the skewers because it is dry and not worth the value. the tempura isnt worth the value either. desserts are delicious but you can get better dessert somewhere else. its all prepackaged and its there made for profit. the service is great and the best it possibly can be ( trust me, the manager gets on us if we mess up even a little bit). the hibachi is definitely worth its value because the ingredients are all high quality, especially the filet mignon. lobster and shrimp are frozen but hey, if that doesnt bother you, go for it. the kitchen is very clean so you dont have to worry about the possible dirtiness of the kitchen! go for lunch during the weekdays! it gets you full and its the best in terms of value and quality :)

Went in to try something special and maybe something new. The decor was all nice components but clashed with each other lighting was poor and the menu was pricey. We tried the tuna and hibachi steak and the crispy duck with port wine sauce. We started with a calamari appetizer which cost eight dollars and afforded us seven ok sized pieces of squid. While the breading was light and crispy and the meat tender and fresh we still felt duped. Then came the miso which was actually rather bland, not joking most miso has at least some flavor. Then our salads came out the ginger peanut dressing was so overbearing with peanut it actually reminded me of jif. Finally the main dishes came out the hibachi beef and tuna as well as the sauce and stir fry vegetables that came with were all tasty and very fresh the same, however, cannot be said of the duck which was more than just gamey it was on the verge of spoiled. Taking into account the overall quality of the meal and the slow slow pace of service, over two hours for a dinner for two, I cannot recommend this restaurant right now.
