I have to say that I was very impressed even by expecting an "ok" dinner by the past reviews and rates that others have give for this On The Border restaurant. When we walked in we were seated right away, and soon after we were waited on, and our orders were taken. Our waitress was the fastest I have EVER seen. Once your drink was empty, she was on her way with another while also checking on you. Our order took approx. 5-10 minutes to arrive! Very fast and super friendly service. We also enjoyed our veiw of the "tortilla machine" which allowed to watch our tortillas be made! I asked for a small sample of the guacamole and it was given to me within seconds. At the and of it all, after we had finished our meal and had paid the bill, our waitress came right back and offered "to-go cups". The only negative comment I have for this restaurant would be that I ordered a chicken taco, and they gave me a beef. I really dont mind considering that everything else was wonderful. Ask for Jessica! (waitress) shes the best:). Our order (for two people) was only $23... I am definitely satisfied.

I would rate the experience higher if the service had not been what it was: slow. I came in late on a Monday night and sat at the bar. I was originally planning on getting something to go, but decided I would sit and enjoy my food and maybe order a drink. It took a good 10 minutes for the bartender - a cheerful but disinterested young girl - to notice me. I ordered a chicken taco of some sort, which was good but certainly forgettable in the plethora of Mexican food creations. I also ordered a Baileys shake with instructions to take some creative license (I was curious what she would do). The bartender added some Frangelico and Amaretto, with some chocolate syrup and made a decent creamy concoction. She even sampled some of the extra near the end of my meal, sitting next to me in what I felt was a last-ditch effort to salvage the earlier lack of attention. A simple "be with you in a moment" goes a long way if youre busy. This place could use some managerial jarring of their staff to encourage a more service-minded atmosphere (if there is any at all).

Walking in at 12:30 during lunch with my dad we expected to see more customers. I jokingly said "maybe well see just why there arent that many people eating here." Unfortunately, I was right. Service wasnt very great. We requested guacamole on the side and that didnt go through. The taste and food presentation were alright but the food left me bloated and feeling sick all day. My dad complained about that as well. We brought a shrimp fajita home to my mom and she didnt enjoy the taste at all, saying it was "fishy and tasted old." This was at most an hour after ordering it. So in short, the overall experience was pretty awful and Id not recommend this restaurant. To get similarly priced food with fresh ingredients, good taste, no bloating or sickness, and good service Id recommend El Rancho at 7755 Magnolia Beach Rd or another if its closer to you (thats just the one we go to).

Standard Mexican restaurant offerings at good prices. I particularly like their chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. There is also a good variety of low calorie options (marked as such on the menu) which makes it much easier to eat here if youre trying to watch what you eat. You dont have to just get another salad. But speaking of salad, their salad is surprisingly good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have meetings here monthly with a group that ranges from 8-50 people, and they have always been very accommodating. They also have a private room that can be reserved if necessary as well. Theyve managed to handle our large groups every time without unnecessary delays or mixed up orders, even with separate checks for everyone.

Stopped in for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. Stood at the front for a few minutes and finally a woman came from the back to sit my kids and I. She gave us menus and said "our server will be right here". Looked over menu a few times and decided what we were eating. Finally, I start looking around and notice 3 waitresses walking around(1 in particular looked at me twice). Keep in mind, there are literally only 2 other couples in the place at the time(pretty dead for a Saturday). After 15 minutes I tell me kids its time to go and made it a point to let the manager know the "service" was terrible...I would hate to see how they operate with a full house. Wont ever return.

There is no lunch time rush at this location. Its usually 4 tables or less when I go for food. Yet every time I place my order online and it gives me a specific pick up time I find myself waiting in the to go area for at least 10 minutes waiting first to be acknowledged and then additionally waiting on my food. When you have a short window of time every minute during your lunch break counts. I find myself waiting far too long to get food that has a designated pick up time. The taste of the food is usually good. Its the waiting to be addressed at the pick up area and then the waiting for the actual food. I dont really understand how this business is still open.

We went to On the Border a few weeks ago after not going for several years due to living out of state. I was sorely dissapointed in the experience. Our waiter was slow and unattentive. My food was lukewarm when they brought it to me (my husband got fajitas, which were hot). Our drinks were not filled in a timely manner (they were sitting empty for a long time), and it wasnt even busy that night that we went. I will stay away from this restaurant in the future and just take care of my Mexican cravings at La Carretta.

This restaurant needs to be closed. This is possibly the worst restaurant I have ever had the displeasure to experience. We arrived around 6 pm. The child with us ordered tacos which were served without any food for the two adults. I ordered soup. It never came. We left after 45 minutes never having been served our order. The tacos were so bad our 11 year old did not want to eat the second one. Do not waste your time or money

Horrible, horrible service! Took thirty minutes to get drinks. Then, when they finally came there was flies in two of our drinks. The waitress ordered the wrong food for one person and didnt order another ones food at all. All this, and the restaurant had very few customers, so they couldnt use that for an excuse. PLUS, the manager never bothered to come out to apologize for the awful service.

Went during cinco de mayo and had a blast. Drinks were absolutely wonderful and just strong enough for the price. Got the queso which had a few too peppers in it for my taste but my girl loved it. We split the nachoes and had leftovers. Great bang for the buck. I will definitely be back to partake in their happy hour $12 pitchers has my name written all over it. Would highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I were deciding where to take our friends to dinner when they got to town. We called to see if there were any drink specials and whoever answered the phone said, "Umm I dont know" and hung the phone up. Without even going to ask someone since she didnt know. We were both so shocked and needless to say did not choose on the boarder for dinner.
