Tribeca doesnt seem like a Mexican restaurant at all. It seems like an Italian restaurant pretending to be Mexican. Their salsa is more similar to a cooked pasta sauce than a fresh Mexican salsa. Likewise their cheese is mild and stringy, more like an Italian cheese, rather than a thin white queso with a Mexican kick. For beverages, I got a pina colada, and my husband ordered a margarita. Mine was overly sweet and served with a stirring straw rather than a sipping straw. (?) His was too sweet as well. Neither of us were ever offered drinking water, which is pretty standard when the customer orders a mixed drink (or coffee) with their meal. The menu was a bit strange. For instance, quesadillas are referred to as "Mexican sandwiches", as if Mexico does not have sandwiches, too (there they are called "tortes" and, yes, they consist of two slices of bread with filling...just like our North American sandwiches.) The food was pretty bland and unmemorable, except for the beans. Those were actually quite good... though not even close to authentic frijoles which are mashed instead of whole pintos. All in all, meh.

Wanted to like it. I had the fish tacos. "The fish tacos are amazing" the server said. And in her defense, she didnt cook them, it was my first & only time ever eating there, & maybe they usually are. Maybe it was an off day. But... They werent amazing. Unless you like cold, mushy tilapia in a soft shell taco. I ate 3 bites, & was done. My server asked if I wanted a to-go box. I declined. She asked how the tacos were. This is normally where I lie, because I dont want to be "that guy" & complain, make something up about not being as hungry as I thought I was, then remember to never come back. That day, I blurted out the truth. They were cold. Im not sure they were done. I found myself apologizing to HER. She graciously discounted the bill, and Im sure told her manager & the cooks. In summary, I have one experience, one impression to base my review on. The service I received that day was acceptable. The food, not so much. But I have a "high maintenance" palate, and maybe they had an off day.

This was a great find for a night in downtown with my husband! Jorge was beyond kind and courteous and provided us with great muffins, bread and coffee in a very cute presentation. We stayed on the third floor and it was beautifully decorated. We both loved the huge shower that had a total 2 shower heads and 4 wall sprayers! It was so relaxing! Everything was perfectly clean and all the presentation was amazing. And a bonus - we did not even hear one sound from the restaurant downstairs. The restaurant!!!! Oh my! It was THE BEST Mexcian food Ive EVER had! Again, presentation was beautiful and the flavor went right along with it. Everything was so fresh - the salsa and guacamole were perfect! My husband had the fried tacos for lunch and found them so delicious that he had to go back for dinner! We really enjoyed our entire experience with Tribeca and the 1857s B&B. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Tribeca has been a go-to restaurant for us since we first discovered it ten years ago. The staff is family to each other and friendly to patrons. I have never found service to lag. I am always confident that if I have an eight PM showtime to make, they will see that I am out on time. Their food is fresh, and they use cilantro well in their salsas. There are a couple of off-menu salsas. (I usually ask for a serving of the spicier salsa verde.) Over the years I have found these salsas to remain consistent; but with some variation due to the use of fresh ingredients and the chefs assessment of the balance. Two can share a dinner with wine and tip and total about $30! Their art gallery changes about monthly so you can get up and stroll around before, during, or after the meal. The architecture feels like SoHo.

On a weekly basis a small party of friends will eat out around town. No one in the party had tried Tribeca but we had heard some good comments. We decided to gave it a try. The menu looked promising. While I found the quality of the food to be quite good I found it laking in flavor. It was the most americanized "Mexican" food i have ever had. BLAND is the word. The salsa was a simple chili sauce. And not spicy at that. I had the chicken tortilla soup. Boring. The main dish had three burritos. Again while the food was okay it was BLAND. I have never been so disappointed by a "Mexican" restaurant. If you want good Mexican stay away. On the other hand if you do not like spicy food that is vaguely mexican give it a try.

I was on the 3rd floor. It was very nice, very clean. Theres a kitchen, living room and a bath and half. But there is no door separating the second floor from the third, and no lock on bedroom door. I found the lack of security very unsettling. When I was there, the second floor guest would come and go without locking the front door, which meant anyone could walk in off the street and enter my space. I would only recommend for a group that intends to reserve the entire home (all three bedrooms).

I know their recipe for their salsa. Recipe Begin: Add Tomato Sauce Recipe End. All their food was bland. Simple as that. Bland. I have no idea why people love this place. If I was unemployed I would spend half my time looking for a job. The other half of my time I would spend trolling this place with picket signs outside.

This is by far our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The food is absolutely amazing and totally different than what you get elsewhere. It is an upscale atmosphere that you can take a date to. We go here frequently. I love the fajitas. Oh yeah, one more thing, the margaritas are amazing.

The food is ok and never had a bad experience there. Just not my favorite kind of food the way of its prepared there. Too costly too for the portion size in my opinion.

This used to be one of my favorite places, but the food has gone down here. Still has some good options but not as tasty as it used to be.

Beats all other Mexican food joints in this town! Always fresh. A tad pricey but you get what you pay for here.
