If you go there you have to get the Guacamole which they make in front of you. The food is the best mexican restaurant around. I love the painted walls with scenes from Mexico, the lady making tortillas in the front window. I had the Steak & Chicken Fajitas and they were outstanding. My wife had the Oaxaca steak and it was equally as good. The Margaritas are top notch. its quality food. The noise levels can get a bit loud in there, and they sometimes seem to need more servers for as busy as it gets in there. When we want the best mexican cuisine the DeKalb/Sycamore area has to offer this is where we go. The other Mexican restaurants around dont come close. $13 fajitas, seems like the right price for the quality and quantity of the food provided. Overall its a definite must try.

I was very surprised to see previous reviews that stated that the prices were too high although the food is good. Well, the food is very good and I think the prices are very reasonable. I think that $10 - $12 is not unreasonable for dinner. Pitchers of margaritas are ample for three people and the price depends on whether you go with regular or premium tequila. My service was great - the owner was great and interested in what we thought of the food and service. Did not find him to be over solicitous - just checking to make sure everything was going right. Did wait in the bar for a table but not for too long. Apparently, a lot of people eat there regularly and the place was hopping. Well worth the wait for a table. I highly recommend.

Was really looking forward to this place. Atmosphere was comfortable and the hostess and wait staff were very friendly. Service was terrible, let me repeat, terrible. We waited for over 45 minutes for our food, the waitress had to be called over to refill drinks and chips. She never checked back on us. When my food came out it was ice cold. There were four of us. I do have to say once we got the food, the other three enjoyed their meal. The manager was very accomodating as to the problems. This one is all on a terrible waitress. I will give it a second chance.

The best Mexican food from here to Arizona! We travel 25 miles to eat at Taxco and we have several Mexican restaurants within walking distance from our house. The owner frequently walks through the restaurant and if he thinks you need something, he doesnt look for the wait staff, he just takes care of you. Everyone has a smile and a grateful attitude. This is not a white table cloth restaurant! It is just Great food, Great people and a good value. My family of 5 eats here for $50.00 ($70 if my wife and I get drinks)

What an outstanding example of great Mexican food and prompt, friendly service. We always order the freshly-made guacamole because its delicious and its such fun to watch it being made right in front of us. You can ask for more or less jalapeño, depending on your taste buds. The table salsa and baskets of chips keep coming at no extra charge and dont get me started on how outstanding the margaritas are. Im not sure how many different kinds of Tequila Jesus Romero keeps on hand, but its got to be in the hundreds.

LOVE Taxco! Full Tequila bar (I think over 100 different kinds, so they claim). Food is excellent. I usually switch off between the enchiladas verdes or the steak fajitas. Not as crazy about the salsa but it is still good...Im more of a pico de gallo girl ;) Guacamole is made fresh at your table from a cart so you can order it spicy or not spicy, which is a big plus for me since I love it spicy. Very friendly service. A little pricier than other mexican places in town but worth it.

First, the staff was accommodating considering the time and size of our party arrival. Thought the atmosphere lighting was pretty dark, and too dark for my liking, the food was flavorful and healthily filling. I did not have leftovers, but two out of the 8 of us did. I ordered the fish tacos, "Pescado". I enjoyed the flavors, but it did take a while to receive our drinks and food, but Im sure its due to the busy weekday night (Thursday, in this case). Its worth trying!

Not a bad place for Mexican food, although I was not impressed. The salsa was really hot for me. So, I asked for a milder salsa and got enchilada sauce to dip the chips in and it was basically tomato soup. The service and food were okay. The seating was tight and with that came a loud environment to eat in. I will probably just go to Chipotle next time I want Mexican food.

The margaritas here are amazing and the food is good, but the price doesnt match what youre given. We ordered 2 appetizers, one was a bowl of melted cheese with only 3 small tortillas- that was it, an the other was quesadillas- a total of 6 small triangle wedges. We had 2 drinks and split a piece of flan that was about 1/4 cup size. The cost was $44. Not worth it.

We went in at 6:28 Ordered drinks, ordered basic food for 4 people. Waited about an hour. Waiter was young and seemed new but nothing he could to on his end. Nobody seemed to care how long we waited. Just some lame excuses like theyre your order. Good thing we werent in too much of a hurry. Wont go back! Also, two of the food orders were the size of appetizer.

Was cut off after drinkn several draft beers, was asked if I was driving , nope, wife even showed waitress the keys, then we were told they are closing, 1030 on a Saturday night. I was no where even being close to intoxicated, and I was not driving. I will never go back, nor the other 3 friends that were there, 30 years of professional drinkn, this is a first.

We went in at 7:28 0waited over an hour. For appetizers and 2 entrees. No food. Owner came out said sorry for the wait, we were making ur food fresh. Not knowing I have been in the business since I was 12yrs old. I called B.S. Informed him I needed our check for the drinks and were leaving. He said I have your drinks. We left. Worse service ever.

Tastes like authentic Mexican food. Tacos, burritos, you name it, they have it. The thing that sets this place apart for me, is the complimentary chips and salsa. Most places have bland or even sweet salsa, but this place actually has fresh, spicy salsa. Im not a guacamole fan, but according to the people I was with, their guac is very good too.

Id consider myself a Mexican food fanatic. And this place is on the bottom of my list. I had a pineapple margarita which I guess is $12 each. Steak fajitas and the steak was bland and chewy. No seasoning at all. The side of beans was extremely small portion. Id rather save my money and eat at taco bell down the road. The waiter was nice though.

Taxco is a Jewel that would rate as one of the best in any city in this nation. The menu is full of family recipes and the owner will see you at your table to tell you about each one. Service is small town friendly and the food is south of the border good. Cost: $30-50 per couple including drinks. If thats too expensive stick with taco bell.
