1st visit to this location. No one was available at host station, once we finally spoke to someone she allowed us to walk up stairs and check it out. It was crowded so we came back down. We were then told the downstairs was closed, so we went back up and placed our orders. The drinks came and while waiting on appetizers, decided we didnt want or need to be there. We were definitely out of place....the placed smelled like old mop water, and we informed the waitress we were going to leave. This fool told us that we couldnt leave without paying for the bill, b/c the food was being cooked and we had to pay for it, and that she was going to get the manager my reply was "please do." Waited but no one came and my friend was like lets go. We ordered drinks, so i wanted to pay for them & began walking down stairs and out the door..... here comes super waitress running out the door trying to stop us saying we had to pay for the food (that still hadnt come or the manager). She stood outside with her pen and pad, waiting to write whatever down said she was going to REPORT US (LMAO!!!). I couldnt help but laugh, because super girl really thought we had to pay for the food that we never received. We went back in, to speak to the manager (u would have thought she caught us stealing). Supergirl found the manager, attempted to tell her version but even the manager looked at her crazy telling her we did not have to pay. We paid for our drinks thanked the manager and left. I gave a low rate b/c of Supergirl and the poor service received. I like MM pizza, however supergirl took all the fun out of it. I felt harrassed! I dont want to make it a race issue, however on her end, it couldnt have been nothing else. We were the only customers of color and were very polite. Had on jeans and sneakers, however it was appropriate attire. The manager was cool. I probably would carryout if i visited again, i love the pizza...we walked down to Jack Frys, and had the best service and 15$ burger u could buy!

Have been to this location twice. Most recent visit was this past Sunday evening. We were there to have a family bday dinner and our experience was not good at all. First let me say the atmosphere is great but the service was horrible. We sat upstairs on the patio area. Our waitress seemed to be bothered with getting us as a table from the beginning. She took our drink order then 15-20 min later came and took our food order. We were going to add onion to our pizza and was told they were out. I ask for lemon in my water was told they were out. She brings my salad and it was a bowl of lettuce With only tomato and mushrooms, nothing else so Im not sure if thats all that comes on it or they were out of stuff. 40 minutes after we ordered we still did not have our appetizer and had not seen our waitress so I went inside and ask whats going on and about 5 minutes later we had our pretzels ( which were great). Then we finally get our pizza and the bottom is completely burnt!!! I really hate this because its a fun place to go to but it did kinda ruin it for everyone... the waitress was horrible when we ask for extra ranch and banana peppers she seemed to get really aggravated!! Definitely need to address these issues with the staff and especially the cooks.

Disclaimer-this review is for the Louisville Highlands location, not Mellow Mushroom overall. Bad. 2 hour plus dining experience that started at 4 p.m. on a Saturday and ended at 6. 4 people, one pizza, two hoagies, one beer, one app, 3 waters. Over two hours. Appetizer came under cooked. Sent it back, very nicely. Still no beer. Sent it back, very nicely. 25 minutes later, replacement appetizer. Dead quiet in the restaurant, at least 5 wait staff working. Still no beer. Pizza comes after another 25 minutes. Still no beer, ask again nicely for the replacement. That puts us at nearly 90 minutes for the pizza and beer. Sandwiches come. One fine, one was the wrong one. Never got an apology, did finally get a, do you want the right sandwich? Nope, just need to end the experience. A sorry would have been the minimum, a discount would have been nice, a free small pizza card in the future would have been swell. Never going to this one again, the last trip was nearly two hours, but i thought that was because it was busy. The St Matthews version is much better. Fix some things here.

Ok so let me start off by saying that I love their food. Great options especially if you have vegetarian friends. I am not vegetarian but I definitely wouldnt have a problem sharing a pizza with one here. The issue here is the service is spotty. Last time we went they seemed to be understaffed and our server was running all over doing his best but still couldnt give us the attention we should have had. Before that the hostess apparently didnt assign us to a server so we waited like 20-30 mins before two servers finally noticed. Management apologized for that one and gave us a coupon which certainly helps. Also I am not sure if this happens to other people a lot but on 3 occasions the beer that I wanted was tapped out several hours before they closed. These are just a few examples of why my impression of the service here isnt the greatest. That said, we will still be going back because of the food and great rooftop patio but my suggestion is go here when you are not in a hurry. The food is worth it.

This was my 1st visit here and I was excited.... It was a Saturday afternoon during one of the biggest UofL games of the year, yet they had ONE poor girl behind the bar trying to serve about 20 patrons AND making servers drinks they had rung in.... We couldnt even order a drink from her for the 1st 15 minutes, waited 20 more minutes to order our food (then watched her walk around with said order in her hand without ringing it for another 10+ minutes.) all in all, we waited about 1.5 hours to get our food from the time we arrived, and it came out wrong and semi-cold. Couldnt get a refill no matter what.... She had a HORRIBLE attitude but the fact she was drowning with no help makes it semi understandable.... Management should be ashamed. Ill prob never return; what a horrible experience.

Had the Shitake Pizza and it was amazing last night!!! This place was recommended from a friend who lived in Louisville and Mellow Mushroom did not disappoint! We got out of the Alabama concert late and tried to order delivery to the hotel but didnt know they dont deliver; not a problem. We drove to the restaurant and was late because of road construction, doors were locked called the restaurant and they said come to the side and the pizza was hot and ready even after they closed. Cooks and the waitress inside were very nice. Were from out of town and would recommend this place anytime!!!!

This place is literally the worst. We had to sit ourselves, and we chose upstairs, but no service came for about 20 minutes, so we chose to relocate downstairs. We had to wait another 15 minutes to get a waiter, and our food didnt come for about an hour. It wasnt even crowded, probably only 10 people were here. The food was terrible too. This is literally the worst restraunt ever; every single aspect was horrible. I will NEVER be returning.
